My name is Tia I am 22 married with a 1 year old daughter.  I have always been known as the fat girl with a pretty face. I cant even remember the last time I was under 200 pounds or wore a size smaller that a double digit. I have considered Lap Band surgery since I was 18 and had found out about it, but my insurance would never pay for it and there was no way I could have afforded it alone. My husband koined the Army in Jan of 2010 and I found out TriCare pays for the surgery, unfortunitly I was 5 months pregnant and couldnt start the process. In June of 2010 I finally had given birth moved to NY and talked to my doctor about the surgery he agreed it was a good idea but told me I would have to wait til my daughter was a year old. At that point I was stoked even though 9 months was a long ways away I had finally gotten the hope I had needed. In Feb of this year I changed doctors and got referred to a surgeon in NY, my first apt was set up and I was ready to go, but my husband got orders to deploy sooner than exspected(March) and I had to cancel my apt. When I got back home I found another doctor who refered me to Dr, Davenport my first appointment was May 9, 2011, I went in with my phsyc evaluation done and my surgery was scheedualed then for June 21 I am now on my 2 week liquid diet and my surgery is in exactly one week. I am ready for the rest of my life to start and for my daughter to be proud of me!
