The End of Summer Challenge
Kimmypoo38 replied to size10again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Im 238.1 today. Im down 1.9lbs this week. It was a complete struggle! My weight was up and down all last week but I put it in high gear this weekend and pulled it off. I am 3lbs to my goal of 235 by the end of the challenge. Hope I make it! -
Jeans are the toughest. Sizes are all over the place. Try on some size 20 khakis or dress pants. Try on other style jeans. All of them are cut differently. Lane Bryant are the worst for cutting their jeans too small. I wear some 18 or 20's depends on how they fit. Just keep working. It will happen.

I do the same thing!!! Lol!!!

Cut your Pasta intake by 1/2 and ditch the frozen dinners. Exercise at least 3-5 times a week and see if the weight comes off. Do you have a fill? Is the PA refusing to fill your band because he thinks your eating too many carbs? Do something different with your diet and try to get another fill and see if it helps.

O M G ! What a Day !!!!!!!
Kimmypoo38 replied to 54Shirley's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since I really don't know your Dr.,I still feel she did the right thing. Some Stroke patients have negative CT scans and usually after they get the MRI, it show where they had a infart that the CT scan did not pick up. But since your symptoms were vauge or resolved, just be careful and go back to the hospital if you experience any other sign or symptoms. Don't wait thinking it will go away because it normally ends in disaster. Good Luck! -

Glad your okay. I am a Neuro Nurse and care for stroke patients all the time. Are you sure that Fatigue was your only symptom? Did the Dr. say you has slurred speech and that is why she sent you to the hospital? Kinda weird that she sent you because of fatigue but stroke symptoms can be bizzare. In her defense. You could have been exhibiting what they call a "mini" stoke in her office and by the time you got to the hospital the clot passed through the brain and your symptoms resolved. Its better to be safe than sorry. Im glad that everything turned out okay but definetly follow up with a PCP and learn the classis signs of a stroke. -
I have PCOS and for me its too soon to tell. I still have facial hair that grows dispite the 30lb weighloss. No period yet but I've only been banded for 2.5 months. My health is better. My BP is good and I'm not eating alot of carbs or sweets.

Able to eat too much, so frustrated!
Kimmypoo38 replied to Maddie Lynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sadly the band does not take away the urge to eat badly . I was banded on May 25th and I have changed my whole life style. Eating healthy is a commitment and sometimes a chore. Sometimes when people are too strict with their lifestyle changes, they get burned out. Be realistic with yourself and compromise and treat yourself at intervals. Some days my band gives me better restriction that other days but I try to hold on and get through the day. I probably need a fill but I will get one once I plateau. Get back in the right mindset and seek out help. I see a nutritionist an she gives helpful advice. Do you attend monthly support groups? Try really hard not to go backwards on this journey. I feel great where I am right now. I don't want to pack back on 32lbs. Good luck and take one day at a time. -
Wow! You look great!

Your doing great! I am 8 weeks post op and down 28lbs. This lady at works said her cousin had the surgery the same day I had it and is down 47lbs. She kinda looked at me like whats my problem. I said good for her but everyone weighloss is different. I wish I had never told anyone but a select few. I have to go over my weightloss stats daily with coworkers. Some mean well, while others are just nosey. Hang in there and keep moving forward. -
HOW MUCH IN ONE MEAL
Kimmypoo38 replied to LookatmeNow34's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Definetly don't get a fill. Im with others. With all the recommnded food they want you to eat, 3 bites will not cut it. Are you exercising? I eat 3 square meals a day and that equals out to about 1-1.5cups. I think your band is too tight if your gritting your teeth when you eat 3 bits. Eat a cup of food at a time and exercise 4-5 times a week. Im sorry you getting misleading answers. -
May 2011 Bandsters
Kimmypoo38 replied to Hungrybetty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded May 25th. Weigh was 268 and I am down to 248. I have lost a total of 24 lbs. I have 1.5 cc in my band. -
Still losing very quickly - no fill?
Kimmypoo38 replied to roziecakes's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
You probably won't need a fill when you do back because you have 2cc in already. My Doc didnt put anything in my band during surgery. I currently have 1.5 cc in after my first fill. I am losing about 1-2lbs a week. I don' t think you need a fill if your losing like that. Congratulations! Don't be afraid if your losing weigh rapidly. As long as your not starving yourself and doing all the things you need to do according to the band rules then your fine. -
I am 7 weeks post op and I thought I knew everything about the band. Well, I am learning new stuff everyday. I think you have alot of stressors in your life that could sabatoge any weightloss surgery. I was 272lbs , 3 days before surgery. So far I have lost 23lbs. I have worked my butt off just to lose it! It doesn't just fall off. The band controls my hunger for 3-4 hours and some days I am hungry all the time but I think its all fueled by emotions. The band is NOT a quick fix and there are people that go weeks without losing a pound. If your okay with losing 1-3lbs or less a week with calorie restriction and lots of exercise then the band may be right for you. If you are going to fall apart after only losing 3-4 lbs a month even after working your but off, then the Band may NOT be right for you. If you cheat alot ,like lots of carbs and refuse to stop drinking while you eat, then the band is NOT for you. I love sweets so I was unsure if the band was the best surgery but I did it anway. Well I my urge for sweets are still there but I have limited my intake of them by 85%. I refuse to sabotage my weightloss. It took me 2 years to decide to get the band. I was all set to have it in 2009 but chickened out because I was not ready for the committment. I am so glad I waited. I think that if you do get the band, you have to be 100% ready for the challenge. Honestly you don't sound like your ready yet. You have constant issues with hunger( which sounds more emotional) and dealing with life after divorce. Hunger was not my issue before the band. I was just GREEDY and ate anything I wanted and lacked will power. Fast food, sweets and carbs was my diet. I ate through all my emotions. Heck I was never one of those people who said "I don't know why I am so big because I don't eat that much." I think that is the biggest lie that overweight people tell themselves. You would be surprised the amount of food that people eat without being aware. I thought about making good decisions about food but failed at it and went back to all my bad habits before having the surgery. Dig deep, seek pre-op diet counseling and come clean about food issues. Lastly, some Doctors are pro gastric bypass for several reasons. They get more money if you do GB. They have probably seen countless people take the least restrictive route of Lapband , fail and comeback and get GB and the list goes on. Some people have no business getting lapband because they haven't dealth with issues that will sabotage the weightloss or they want instant success. Honestly I think everyone wants instant success! GB will get you that instant sucess but you have to weigh the pros' and cons of the invasiveness of the surgery. GB was not an option for me because I loved sweets and feared that I would have dumping symdrome everyday. Also I am 38 yrs old and want to have children and did not want to wait 18 months to persue fertility treatments. That was my rational for getting the lapband. I knew I had to work harder but felt that was best surgery for me because I knew I could control my sweet intake, without having to give them up completey. Its working for me because it took 2 years to change my mindset before I would do it. Sadly being in bad health and having boarderline high blood pressure and diabetes was not enough to make me consider WLS.It wasn't until I confronted my issues of infertility that made me want to lose weight. Me and my hubby just got approved to adopt a baby and through the process the light bulb came on that I needed to be healthy and live a long time to care for our future child/children. The erge was so strong that it totally changed my outlook on life. I am so motivated that I can hardly stand myself. I am on a mission that I have never ventured into before and it has caused a huge change inside of me. I have my moments where I get a little frustrated but I stay the course and the weight is coming off. I am execising 5-6 days a week and staying away from sweets and carbs. I actually learned that I can go weeks without eating icecream or a peice of cake and have not died! Make sure you have good support systems to help you through any weightloss surgery and seek out counseling if you need it. DON"T RUSH YOUR DECISION!

Let's Talk Exercise!
Kimmypoo38 replied to livingmydream's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to mix up your routine a increase your exercise to 5 days a week. Your body is use to the Zumba 3-4 times a week and it will not allow you to lose.It sucks! Incorporate walking and other classes at the gym. This is what I am going and I eat 800-1000 calories a day and I am losing about 2lbs a week.I have to work hard losing weight too so I feel your pain. Hang in there and don't give up.... -
Let's Talk Exercise!
Kimmypoo38 replied to livingmydream's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good point! I am 7 weeks post op and my activity level has sky rocked! I went from not exercising to exercising 5 days a week. I hurt my achillies tendon Sunday and could not walk because I was trying to jog. I will not do that again for a while. Exercise is a must in my weekly routine. I joined a gym and love the classes that they teach. I don't think I would loose if I didnt exercise. -
Your words are so true! I never counted calories and now I am obsessed with what I am putting in my mouth. I am only 7 weeks post op but this is a big change. Keep up the good work! I am down 22lbs and feel great! Whatever it takes to drill this new lifestyle in our heads is what we need in order to concour the weightloss. IT WILL HAPPEN!!! YOU WILL BE SUCCESSFUL!!!!
-
You said a mouth full! Its as caused me so many problems and I am hoping the lapband + weightloss will relieve the symptoms. I hate the hair on my face the most. I am detemined to beat the PCOS monster!!!!

Congrats! Your doing great!

At what point is i t time to consider golng to a bypass after minimal lapband success
Kimmypoo38 replied to bayareanan's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
In all honesty, you are doing what your suppose to do. I recommend increasing your exercise to 5 days a week for 45 min. The lapband weight loss is 4-12lbs a month and you are falling in this catagory. Don't give up! Change some of the foods you eat and your exercise routine and get a fill if needed. I have PCOS and my weightloss is slower than others. I have lost 22lbs in 7 weeks and a lady that I know has lost 37lbs and had the surgery on the same day as myself. Talk about frustrated! But I can't lose focus. I am gonna fight for every pound that I loose. Its a slow process but I knew that coming in. I didn't know I would have to work so hard to get it off but I like challenges. My whole life has been a challenge and so far I have been victorious.Whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE UP! You can do it! -
Congratulations. I am going on a 4 day cruise at the end of the month and I am determined not gain weight. It can be done if you think before you react.

I was banded May 25th, I am down 21lb since the surgery.I lost 7lbs one week post op but the rest was on me. I had my first fill June 23 and felt restriction. I still fill restriction but some days more than others. I am pleased with my weight loss. I eat right, limits carbs, and exercise 5-6 times a week. The weight is coming off and I am happy! Personally I think your on the right track. You only weighed 215 when you had surgery. I weighed 272. So your weight loss will be smaller because your closer to your goal weight. I think if your concerned about your restriction then you should talk to your Dr. and maybe he can help you get where you need to be.
