  1. I am scheduled to have my lapband removed/revised to the VSG on February 20th. I have a two year daughter, Annabelle. Any tips/tricks on how to handle caring for her post-surgery? I am planning on having my husband take her to daycare for the time I am off work to recovery(approximately 9 days), but don't know how to handle when I am at home with her. I am sure that she will want to crawl on me and/or have me pick her up. How long after surgery before you were able to lift children?

Bulimia after surgery...say it ain't so!

I became bulimic two to three years after my first surgery. The band was doing its job but I began to binge eat again. I would eat until I was full, purged and ate some. It's definitely not something I am proud of but I have been in recovery for almost three years. Just wanted to let you know that it can happen.

Has anyone had the lapband twice?

I had my first band six years ago. I've struggled with the emotional eating and even thought I had at one point lost 130 lbs, I gained 50 of that back. In July, I discovered that my band had slipped again. I had my lap band replaced again last Monday. I believe that lap band that is a tool that can help me lose the weight again. I am in therapy and a recovery group to more effectively deal with my food addiction/compulsive overeating.
  6. I haven't looked at my port yet. I am 6 days and don't have a lot of hunger yet either. I have been having small portions of protein shakes and lots of water.

  9. Obviously, my name is Sara and I hail from the great state of Texas, Dallas to be exact. I first began contemplating WLS about three years ago when a trusted friend from church suggested it to me. (She had a bypass several years ago) I dismissed the idea at the time because I thought the idea of surgery was too drastic and was the "easy way out". I began to seriously consider last year after my cousin had the RNY and lost a lot of weight. I could see that it was not the easy way out and I realized that I simply couldn't lost the weight on my own. However, I was still not convinced that RNY was the answer. I began researching surgery on obesityhelp.com and discovered the Lap Band surgery. From the moment that I read about it, I knew that it was what I had been looking for. I called a surgeon(Dr. Provost) and was sent the information packet. I went to the information meeting in January of this year and was told that it would take at least a year to get in for an initial consult. But I decided that I would go ahead and take the chance. Two weeks later, the doctor's office called with an appointment with their new doctor, Dr. Watson. Once I met with Dr. Watson, I was positive that I was doing the right thing. I had surgery on 6/10 of this year. So far I have lost about 28 lbs. (I started at 355) I am on my second week of solid foods and am struggling a bit. I am looking forward to getting my first fill soon. Btw, I am 33 years old. I am single and live alone. Once this depressed, but now I am enjoying my independence and look forward to a whole new world of opportunity to open up for me.
