  1. You must look at and try on wedding dresses without focusing on the size. Just as everyone else said, they have to order it for the largest part of your body and then fit it to you. You'll mostley be trying on sample sizes that will not fit you. But they will pin it and clip it and you'll be able to get an idea of how it will look in your size. Be willing to try on different styles, even though you may have an idea in your head of the perfect dress, something entirely different may be "the dress". And yes, you will know when it is "the dress". Do not settle for anything less. Have fun. And wear nice underwear cause everyone will be seeing it.

    Banded Today..11/23/2011

Welcome to post op! I'm a month post op and couldn't feel better. I'm already in love with my band and my new eating habits. Once you get over the recovery phase and back on real food, you too will love it!
  4. Eat slowly. You'll feel the fullness. Initially, I measured out one cup of soup and often didn't finish it. Using a smaller bowl and plate also helps "trick" your head hunger. I ate full liquids 3 time a day. But if I was hungry I would add a protein shake.

    New Nsv

As Stacy would say "Get outta here..."
  7. I blended in a tbsp of LF peanut butter to my protein shakes. It upped the protein and seemed a bit more satisfying. Someone on here had suggested getting miso soup and straining it for the broth. I did that as well and found it satisfying.
  8. I echo everything everyone else has said here. The thought of surgery is scary. Except the day I was born, I had never been in the hospital, not even for stitches, let alone surgery. But the surgery was the easiest part. I used a Center of Excellence and trusted my surgeon. Once I entered the hospital, I just surrendered to it all. BTW. When I had to see a Cardialogist before my insurance approval, the first words out of his mouth were "congratulations on making the decision to have weight loss surgery".
  9. I'm a month post-op. I have never felt my band. I can feel the port. I sorta like being able to feel it. Sometimes I rub it for luck before sitting down for dinner or getting on the scale. LOL!
  10. Doing the same here. My husband has gotten used to being served dinner on salad plates.

    The Turkey Challenge

Joyce checking in. 298 today! Woo hoo! That is 5 lbs this week. The most I've lost in a week. I love my fill!
  12. I met with the nutritionist last week and she said to make sure to have carbs (the good kind) early in the day. For crunch during the day, she suggested having wasa crackers. For snacks, string cheese or baby bell or a small serving of nuts.

    After Post-op Meals

My favorite dinners are flaky fish like tilapia or salmon and steamed veggies. I've been eating alot of bok choy lately made with a little garlic and lemon or some red pepper flakes. I also have made chicken burgers with chopped mushrooms mixed in for some added moisture. I like to mash cauliflower and add a little FF sour cream for mock mashed potatoes. Squash is good this time of year and really filling. I keep turkey meatballs in the freezer and pull out a couple for a quick meal.

Intro - 3 Days Post Op

Welcome and good luck on your journey.
  18. My pre op loss was 11 lbs. No issues.
  19. Heat up some V-8, puree some salsa in the food processor or blender and mix it in. It is a very tasty and satisfying Soup during the liquid stage. I also made some of the old diet cabbage soup - chicken or veggie broth, a can of pureed tomatoes and cabbage sliced thinly. Cooked it til the cabbage was tender. Then gave it a whizz with my stick blender. I made it sweet and sour by adding some vinegar and splenda.

    October Bandsters!!!

Had my first fill today! Woot! Did not hurt at all while she did it. But stinging a bit now. She took out 1.5 cc to measure what was in and then put it back with an add'l 4 cc. I say fill her up! Now 2 days of liquids and then 2 of mushies again. Poo! But at least I know over the next 4 days that I will loose a couple pounds. How did everyone else's fills go today?

    Negativity!

Good job! I too was getting tired of all the negativity on here. I have my first fill on Friday, yes the week before Thanksgiving, and i am so excited to move to the next phase of this journey. I've already planned out Thanksgiving around things I will be able to eat. Thanksgiving should not be about the food, but coming together as a family.
  22. I think the best thing the liquide diet (2 weeks!) did for me was to prepare me for the aftermath. It was not so hard for me to do liquids only after surgery.
  23. Welcome. I was banded in October too. 10/20.
