Had To Lift Heavy Dog After Lap Band Surgery
LB4Me replied to Puppypaws57's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried so hard not to pick up my 14 pound dog after surgery. But by day 5, I needed his little doggie kisses and gave in. No issues. -

14 Day Post Lap Band Surgery - Time For Mushies! Help!
LB4Me replied to jsi69i's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For mushies I ate low-fat refried Beans. I mixed some taco sauce is to make them looser and then melted a bit of cheese on top and ate it with a little ff sour cream. I also added ricotta to a cup of jarred Pasta sauce and a sprinkle of ff mozzerella and nuked it. Tasted like lasagna w/out the pasta. I mashed tuna or a hard boiled egg with a slice of very ripe avocado. Still a go to lunch for me. Mashed cauliflower. Mashed squash. Try to get as much Protein as possible. It staved off the hunger. If you are still drinking Protein shakes mix them with lf milk or lite soy milk for an added boost of protein. -
Good for you. Keep making positive steps towards your life change. I too gave up sweets and soda way before my surgery. i do think it made the transition to the liquid diet and ultimately post surgery much easier for me. I still have the occassional chocolate or cookie now. But I can eat one without eating the whole box. The control is a good feeling. Keep up the good work. Both of you.

Sore Around Lap Band Port Site
LB4Me replied to betsylulu2525's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
The port is usually stitched to a muscle and you are forming some scar tissue around it. It will be the last to heal. I've been banded over 2 months and if I lay on it too long, it is still a bit sore. Just something you get used to. -
What a great feeling! Congratulations!

You may want to go talk to the dietician. Let them remind you (or shame you) of the right things to eat. There has also been some posts on here about the band test where you basically retrain your band (or your own mind) on how to do it's business by going thru the eating stages again. Corrigan posts about it occassionally. Best of luck to you. You did it once, you can do it again and then some.

Back On The Band Wagon-lets Go!
LB4Me replied to healthy and happy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm happy to say that I lost weight over the holidays, but I did not deny myself. I had some chocolate and dessert every night! But I am still 4 lbs from my New Years goal. So I need to step it up. Thanks for the added push. -
After A Lap Band Fill What Do You Eat???
LB4Me replied to fofo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also have a cold beverage right after. Then my doctor requires 2 days liquid and 2 days mushie. I push it a bit if I feel ok. But I don't have much restriction yet. -
That is terrific! Enjoy.

Crazy Question For Women Bandsters....
LB4Me replied to kcf101008's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My underwire bothers me if I am sitting too long. Sorta rubs against the port. I also think I may be getting smaller in the boobage and the bra may be riding up a bit. May be time for some new bras. -
Yep! It is the only side affect I have had so far. So I'll live with it.

My Emotional Meltdown
LB4Me replied to enjoylifediana's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The emotional breakdown is not unusual. I had one myself just this week. And you're right, I think it has a lot to do with sometimes feeling overwhelmed by the changes taking place in your body. I've been doing very well for 2 months now. But my trigger was very similar to yours. I was hungry. My husband was napping and I went to look for something to make myself for dinner (he is usually in charge of dinner). There was nothing in the fridge or the pantry that I thought I could eat and I was too hungry to start cooking. I just started crying. And I could not stop. My husband woke up and was at total loss at why I was so upset. Then he made me eggs and all was good. I learned 2 things from this. Always make sure there is plenty of cottage cheese and yogurt in the fridge. And my husband is on my side. Have a very healthy holiday. And don't be too hard on yourself. -
We're all going through it. I had more than one piece of holiday candy today. Don't beat yourself up over it.

Stupid Lap Band Question
LB4Me replied to Mrslopez31's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You s/ask your doctor for clarification, however, I usually count my days on the clock, not the calendar. So if i get a fill in the morning, 2 days liquid would be the day of the fill and the next. Was your surgery first thing in the morning or the afternoon? But that is a fill and I already know how my body acts after a fill. You're in the healing stages now. Don't rush anything. It is important to give your body time to adjust to the changes and heal internally. Best of luck. -
The Holiday Challenge
LB4Me replied to size10again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
290 this week. Down 2 more pounds this week. I could have lost more if I didn't eat some holiday chocolates this week. Much, much less than I would've in the past, but still did indulge. I guess that is what this is all about. Moderation but not denial. A very happy and healthy holiday to all. -

Did You Have To Do A Bowel Prep The Night Before Lap Band Surgery?
LB4Me replied to oliversmomma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did not. Just another thing that differs by surgeon. Frankly, if you've been on a 2 week liquid diet, you're pretty much empty anyway. I was afraid I'd wet myself on the OR table, so right before I walked into the OR, (yes, NYU hospital makes you walk in - it was horrible) I stopped to pee. -
April - My heart goes out to you. I think many more people on here than are willing to admit, find that the changes they are making in their life, not only the weight loss, but the changes in eating habits, drinking, going out, etc are changing their personal relationships as well. I worry about the changes happening to me and whether my marriage will be able to survive it. My husband is also out of work and suffers from depression. But I know, that nothing, not even my husband, should keep me from being the best me I can be. And at over 100 pounds overweight, I am not the best I can be. Hang in there. Do what is best for you. And the rest will work itself out. As to the saggy skin, once you no longer have to support the bum (and his extra cirucular activity) you'll have some extra money for a little tuck here and there! All the best!

Seagulls, Cats And No Holes Left...
LB4Me replied to cantbetoothinortoorich's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your very vivid, but amusing post. The constant whining on here lately has been a real downer. It helps to have a sense of humor about all this. I personally think there must be something in the port that smells like fish. My cat has been extra attentive lately as well. -
Less Than 48 Hours Until Lap Band Surgery And Feeling Nervous
LB4Me replied to oliversmomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Honestly, the surgery is the easiest part. Once you get to the hospital, just decide to surrender yourself to the doctors and nurses. From there, it is a piece of cake. The next thing you know, you're in recovery. After the surgery, take the pain meds, walk, relax and heal. FOLLOW YOUR DOCTOR'S INSTRUCTIONS! Before you know it, you'll be on the other side and wondering what took you so long to do it. See you on the other side! -
Banded 12/16 And I Want Food
LB4Me replied to GermaineF's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Follow your doctor's instructions. There are reasons why you cannot have food yet. You need to heal. Get as much protein in as possible it will stave the hunger. Eat sugar free popcicles. They help and you can chew them til your heart's content.
