:success1: Here's to many more victories!
-
Good for you. Really all it will take is one protein drink or bar. You can do it.
-
Best wishes for a speedy recovery. I am right behind you on Thursday.
-
I'm on all protein shakes with 2 cups of veggies at dinner. I've spiced up my protein drinks with extracts (not syrups which are high in sugar). I add a couple drops of pie spice flavor to Muscle Milk Latte powder for a drink similar to a spiced latte. I add coconut and banana extract to strawberry protein powder. Orange to vanilla for a creamsicle taste. It is a lot of fun to experiment.

Was the Lap Band Your First Choice?
LB4Me replied to GoBanana's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am pretty similar to Victoria. I know how to eat healthy and do. But I need to control portions and binging. The LB was the only thing I ever considered. When motivated, I have the willpower to stick to a plan. I believe the LB will give me that motivation. I will find out for sure in 5 days. -
Thinking of you today. Hope everything goes well and you are back home quickly.
-
Hope you are doing well today and were able to get some sleep last night. Check in with us as soon as you're up to it. Looking forward to hearing about your NYU experience.

We'll be bandsisters. How is your pre-opt diet going?

Preop diet starts today
LB4Me replied to skinnygrrlatheart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm finding the pre-opt diet to be a great motivator. I am on day 9 and lost 9 pounds. It makes me want to keep going. I'm also trying to spend some time sorting out in my head if I am really hungry or just head hungry. Most if the time, I find it is in my head. I hope I can continue down this path after the surgery. -
"Weigh" to go Cindy! You are an inspiration for those of us just beginning.

Preop diet starts today
LB4Me replied to skinnygrrlatheart's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm just beginning week 2 of the pre-opt diet and it does get better. Pace yourself. Drink you Protein drinks. I actually like muscle milk. Both RTD and the powder. I mix pumkin pie spice into the latte light powder and it tastes like my favorite Starbucks latte. Well, sorta. My husband freezes a strawberry Protein Drink for me in the afternoon. It takes a while to drink it and is very satisfying. Instead of broth, try heating up a can of V-8 (put it in a bowl first!). Then stir in a tablespoon of salsa. Very satisfying and tasty. You can do! It is only 2 weeks out of your life. And really by week 2 not only is it easier, but you begin to feel really good. Sorta cleansed and ready for the next phase. -
Best wishes for a quick and easy recovery for all that are being banded today. I'll see you on the other side.

Good luck!

Should this bother me? Cause it does
LB4Me replied to Nikki Riviotta's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
First, congratulations on losing 70lbs. You have a right to be hurt. Her response was catty. My read on it is that she has things, perhaps her own weight, that she has issues with. That said, I have learned when it comes to FB and family and friends, it is often best to ignore comments like that. She obviously has no clue how hard it really is to lose the weight, even with the band. My suggestion is, the next time you post a weight loss victory on FB, preface it by including "all this hard work - calorie counting and 6 days a week at the gym are really paying off - I've lost ##lbs! -
No chickening out! If we're going through with it, so are you! My surgery is on the 20th. Hopefully I will be released the same day, but if not, I'll wave at you on your way in.

CPAP, Sleep Apnea, and Frustration Oh My!
LB4Me replied to RaleighGal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm having the same problems with mine that you are having. I stay up later and later cause I don't want to put it on. I hate sleeping next to my husband with it, even though he has no problem with it. My puppy is afraid of it. Initially, the pressure was much too high for me to be able to sleep with it for an entire night. I finally convinced my Dr to lower the pressure. I am trying to work up to a full night, and have managed a few 4 to 5 hours with it on. What I do is take a Tylenol PM about an hour before bed. Then when I get into bed I put it on and ramp it up. I start by sitting and watching some TV until I feel like I am in synch with it and can lay down. I'm hoping someday I will be one of those people that has a great nights slep with it and love it, but I do not see that ever happening. -

A note about DERMABOND
LB4Me replied to lavishblue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good advice. Thanks. -
Protien shake tip to share with the pre-opt dieters. I bought some extracts. The kind you use to flavor cakes or candy, not the coffee syrup. There are places online that sell them in sample sets. If you add pumpkin and pie spice extract to the Muscle Milk latte flavored powder, it tastes quite similar to my favorite coffee store pumpkin spice latte (and a lot less expensive!). I've also added coconut and banana flavor to vanilla for a tropical shake. It is kinda fun to experiment.

Thank you. Somehow your account makes me feel much bettter. I too have sleep apnea, but was told that I would be day only. I wonder if they will keep me overnight afterall. Hope you're on your way to a quick recovery.

I'm being banded at NYU too. Who was your surgeon?
-
I've had second thoughts. I started crying uncontrollably today and told my husband I changed my mind. I think I was just very, very hungry.

Best wishes for a speedy and easy recovery. See you on the other side.
