    Constipation

I had a probiatic, FF yogurt and everything went whoosh by the time I finished it. It was also a great treat after all that liquid.
  2. I was diagnosed with a fatty liver by a gastroentronologist prior to my surgery. I had all sorts of tests to make sure it was nothing else. I followed the pre-diet to a tee, lost 16 lbs and had my band surgery last Thursday. Believe me, my fatty liver did not go away by 2 weeks of diet. They are trying to scare you and they did. That said, follow the diet. It is a good intro to the next several weeks. If i had not had that head start, I would not be able to deal with the hungry I am having now while I heal. Just 3 more days til mushies!
  3. Is anyone or has anyone experienced persistent hiccups since being banded? I have continual hiccups. Not big ones. Kinda slow and gentle. And they stop occassionally. Then start back up. I haven't had much gas pains. Maybe this is how my body deals with the gas? If you have had them, how did you stop them?
  4. Water, water, water! I keep a bottle next to me at all times.

    Damn Dietician!!!

If the WL center's dietician includes follow-up care, I'd suck it up. If you have any issues in the future, she will be there to help you get over the hump. These are the only things I had to pay out of pocket for, but the nutritionist includes a lifetime of follow up.
  6. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to all that have their surgery this week.

    Hiccups

    Thanks everyone.
  8. My sister, who is a big fan of protein drinks, suggested just tonight getting plain protein powder and mixing it into LF, creamy yogurt, cottege cheese, etc for an extra punch of protein - without the taste.
  9. I bought extracts (not syups which are hight in sugar). I use Muscle Milk lite powder. I mix the latte powder flavor with a few drops of pumpkin extract and a few drops of pie spice extract. It tasted like a Starbucks pumpkin spice latte. I mix banana and coconut with strawberry powder for a tropical drink taste. Also as prior poter said,a tbsp of low fat peanut butter with the latte (or chocolate) is yummy.

    October Bandsters!!!

Wow. That is terrific. Take it easy tomorrow at work. Don't overdo it.
  11. Glad to hear that all went well.

    October Bandsters!!!

My cat is sitting on my desk staring at me right now. He's pretty zen. But we have a yorkie puppy that is over 10lbs. He can't figure out why mommy won't pick him up. He actually sits at my feet and grrs to get my attention.
  13. Check the list from your doctor and see if you can have V-8. My list included this. I then heated it like tomato soup and added a few drops of tabasco. Very satisfying.

    October Bandsters!!!

I'm not hungry at all 3 days post op. I've been drinking water and apple juice. I'm on full liquids. I finally had a protein shake yesterday w/ a tbsp of peanut butter blended in cause I had a headache that would not go away. I have not pooped and would really like to. I may have a probiatic yogurt later today. Right now i am sipping more apple juice.
  16. Everyone here will say follow your doctor's instructions, but I'm going to make a suggestion for you for your second time to surgery. Don't do a 3 day liquid diet. Day 3 was actually my worst day in the 14 day process and I hear that from a lot of others on here. Do more. 2 weeks if you can. By the time I went to surgery, I was not hungry and I knew it was something I could do. 3 days after, I am still not hungry. During the 14 days, I also spent a lot of time thinking about being head or stomach hungry.

    October Bandsters!!!

I question whether it is actually in there. Can't wait to see it on the xray next week. My surgeon waits a week to do the xray.

    October Bandsters!!!

Thanks Cindy. I'm waiting for Monday and then I am going to try to scheduled them for Friday. I have not had any gas issues, which I attribute to the great surgical team at NYU. What about you?

    October Bandsters!!!

I'm here. Surgery on Thursday went well. I remember very little. 5 incisions. No hernia. Sore but no gas pain so far. I did have to spend the night in the hospital in ICU because of my sleep apenia and low blood oxygen. That was the hardest part of the surgery. Now for the really hard part, losing the weight. My surgeon is very serious about follow up. I have to see her and the nutritionist once a month for a year and commit to losing 2 pounds a week. Looking forward to continuing this journey with all of you!

    October Bandsters!!!

I'm home and banded. It could not have gone better (except for the overnight stay in ICU as a precaution - sleep apenia). I'm actually feeling quite good. Sore, but tolerable. So far, no gas. No hernia, yeah me! But the surgeon did put in a couple stitches to shore up a weak spot. Slept on and off today, was able to drink water and have some chicken broth. To all of those following me, piece of cake. The hardest thing was remembering the names of all the doctors, nurses, etc. Also, a shout out to NYU hospital. I felt so well taken care of.
  22. I'm getting a Pandora charm bracelet for my surgery and will add a charm or bead for each 20 lb milestone.
  23. Thanks for friending me. I'm off to surgery tomorrow. Can't wait until that part is over with. Should be sleeping, but can't. Hope you're feelig better. I'll talk to you on the other side.

    October Bandsters!!!

Well I am finally there. Tomorrow is my surgery. I am both excited and apprehensive. Thank you to all my lapband pals for helping me to get to this place. I know that I am more at ease with the actual surgery and recovery because of you. And I hope we will all continue to share our WL journeys. See you all on the other side.
