Hello! My surgery is set for November 21st and I'm having second thoughts! I need advice please!
LB4Me replied to Michele M.'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had never had surgery before and was terrified. But the surgery was the easiest part. Just follow your doctor's instructions and everything will be fine. -
Hello from OC in California!! Post Op 4 days
LB4Me replied to ClauCuev's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I bought Centrum chewables. My doctor said you could also take two children's gummys or chewables. -
It is your body. You make those decisions. Ask your insurance to recommend a surgeon in your area that has plenty of experience with the lapband. IMHO it s/be a Center of Excellence surgeon.

Hello from OC in California!! Post Op 4 days
LB4Me replied to ClauCuev's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome. The week's following your surgery are the hardest. You're going to want solid food before your doctor says you are ready. It is very important that you follow your Dr's instructions even if they are different than others on here. -

January bandster with questions
LB4Me replied to VSHAWLEY's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Start watching what you eat and how you eat it. Eat slowly. Chew completely. And put your fork down between bites. It isn't easy to do. Also, when you reach for something to eat between meals, stop and ask yourself if you're really hungry or just bored or head hungry. Then wait 10 minutes and see if you still want it. If you are not a regular Water drinker, start drinking water now. If you are addicted to soda, start weaning yourself off of it, replacing it with water instead. Good luck on your journey. -
Welcome.

Welcome to both of you.

My first fill is on the 18th too. I am really looking forward to it. I am watching what I eat very carefully, but I know I can eat more if I let myself. I don't like that feeling. Especially now that the holidays are coming up.

Just saw this. That is terrific. Congratulations!

Did your shoe size change with weight loss?
LB4Me replied to project lisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's funny how we celebrate moving onto smaller sizes in clothes but bemoan having to give up shoes! I am just thankful that handbag size doesn't matter. That is my personal obsession. -
Post Surgery "Must haves"??
LB4Me replied to Matt Z's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
- Immediately following surgery, you'll want some chap stick or other lip baum. - PJ bottoms with a loose drawstring and easy to get out of (it may take you some time to get up and over to the bathroom, you do not want anything else delaying you from going - especially when on liquids!). - Plenty of pillows for propping up to sleep comfortably. - I sent my husband out for a probiatic yogurt on hand after a few days of not evacuating. I preferred this over other OTC drug methods. - A good book. I found reading easier than watching TV. Hope this helps. -
Best wishes for a quick recovery. Let us know how it went.

Mushies....what do I eat!?!?
LB4Me replied to Kellysue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had fun figuring out recipes for my "mushee" stage. I mashed a small slice of avocado with a hard boiled egg. Mixed all natural Pasta sauce with some fat free ricotta for a mock lasagna. I made a soup with some V-8 and pureed salsa. Topped it with a tbsp of parm. Babyfood plums or apple sauce (pureed stage) with cottage cheese. I pureed blueberry and mixed them into cream of wheat. -

Welcome. There are many of us on here over 50. I am newly banded but so glad that I did it. -
Welcome. Sounds like your surgery went well. Remember to get planty of fluids and walk around as much as you can. If your Dr. allows it, protein helps the healing process.

Weigh-in. 304.5. 1/2 lb lost. Bummer. I need my first fill.

That's terrific.

Iam now between my surgery and my first fill. Just this past weekend, I started solid foods again and suddenly started feeling hungry after eating. I am watching portion control very carefully because that was my issue that got me here. I know how to eat healthy, I just eat too much good food. Anyhow, I try to wait a 1/2 hour after I finish eating and then I mix a cold bottle of Water with crystal light and sip it. This would be the time in the past where I would have a sweet or fruit. It seems to work for me and as an added bonus, I am getting in most of my water. Last night in front of the TV, I drank two bottles of water - and did not touch the left over halloween candy or the hubby's ice cream. Of course, I had to make several trips to the bathroom later on...

Depression and the band (not related)
LB4Me replied to pendulum's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was not clinically depressed, but I was not happy either. I had a lot of down days when i refused to leave the house or even my bed. Less than a month after surgery and just today I noticed that I am not having those days anymore. I don't know if it is the weight loss or the chemical changes from eating better, but I'm feeling very optimistic. -
It took me aout 8 days and then with a pillow sorta propping me up on the side. I sorta sleep that way anyway. Drives my husband and dog crazy.
