It has been awhile that I have been contemplating surgery. Only now have I come to the realization that it is completely up to me. No one else will support this decision financially, and no one in my family is really ecstatic about the prospect of surgery but then again I'm not excited about the prospect of being unhealthy. So to finance my new life I have decided to pay for my surgery with student loans. Now before everyone's knickers are up in a twist, the loans are kind of superficial. I can easily afford college without these loans, but not the surgery. So I'll self pay and put the rest of the money in a high interest account to help the loan pay off itself. I'm smart I promise. Lol has anyone else taken out a loan for their surgery? How did it turn out?

Try other flours. Bran, bean flours, nut flours...for your baked goods. It's just white flour that'll make you irritated. The sleeve shouldn't affect you infect it may help you keep away from it. Also commercial baked things will make celiac disease flare up too unless noted "Gluten Free"

School related? No. But my health has a correlation on how well I'll do in school. It's the same reason schools make you pay for insurance; (in fact, health care insurance is an actual cost that is to come out of my living expenses as described in my financial aid statement; my school made me sign a contract that stated I had to keep health insurance) and this is a healthcare cost. To keep healthy and keep going to school.

I dont think it's fraud in my case because of my obesity my doctor advised me to register as a disabled student and loans are also allowed to cover medical expenses; so why is this any different than me buying medication with it? Which according to my school's guidelines is an applicable use for loan money. I think I will be fine with my school's policy.

Well dogz, I have a regents scholarship which covers tuition completely and a 0 EFC so I have the full amount of every grant (and my grant money goes to education I don't allow it to go anywhere else) my loans are supposed to cover my room/board/books but since they couldn't give me U housing they gave me enough money to afford Uhousing if a place opens up. And I can afford my books with my job. My school gives me my overflow money after my U account is in the clear.

Thanks for the support! I look forward to posting more and Disney that's just what I was thinking. Why pay more than I need to?

So I am covered my AZ Medicaid Mercy Care (or Mercy Care AHCCCS) and will be leaving for college (like really far away) soon like in the middle of august (so if i started 6 months now i would already be out of state by that time). I am well over the 40 BMI mark and have been overweight for quite sometime and I have documented weight loss attempts within the last year (although there were no monthly weigh-ins) My co-morbidites are PCOS, Insulin Resistance, Sleep Apnea and back pain. nothing (besides the IR) is officially diagnosed but after some tests it will easily be proven and on my record. I'm pretty sure i've gained a good 3 pounds per month for the last 20 months (which is very abnormal for my age group says my doctor) and my risk for diabetes keeps getting higher and higher. Do you think they would either shorten or waive the 6 month waiting period for me? and if so, how should i go about doing that?

Anybody late teens, early 20s had the VSG?
maidenari replied to Babygurl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going through the same thing. I was going to get the LAP-BAND surgery but after reading the horror stories and learning the VSG could be done laproascopically. (sp.) i've decided to go through with VSG (and it's 100% covered by ahcccs!) I really applaud you on moving forward with your decision as I hope to do soon. maybe we could keep in touch? let a sista know. lol
