Do any of you getting hiccups if you eat something without chewing enough? I get REALLY loud hiccups that last for quite a while. I have noticed the legs crossing thing , too!
-
I have had 2 fills. Since the last one, 5 days ago, I can eat very few solids. Do fills typically loosen up? I do not know if I should wait a little and see if more goes down or go ahead and get some out. Thanks for any help!!

stuck- call after hours dr or wait until morning>???
chassyboo posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on May 30. I had my first fill on Friday. I have had no problems. I tried to eat just the roast beef from Arby's (no bread) 5 hours ago and have not been able to keep water down since. My chest is tight and achy. Has anyone had this problem before? Is it something I should call the after hours dr for or is it ok to wait until tomorrow during business hours? -
I have only had one fill, 5 days ago. Dr had to poke around (3 times) to get the right angle. I thought it was very uncomfortable but didn't make me cry. I am kind of a wimp but I survived. I was told that the rest of my fills will be better because there will not be any inflammation. If a wimp can do it, you can, too!! Good luck and congrats!

Thanks for the replies. I was freaking out a little bit. I PB'ed at least 15 times and my chest hurt so much. I thought I had slipped my band. I thought ARby's would be ok because it is sliced so thin but I was wrong.... -

Congratulations! Someday, i will be joining you... -
Is it just the money they are worried about? As long as you know that the band is a TOOL not a cure, you should be ok. I have just started this journey, so I do not have a lot of answers. I know for me, the band has been wonderful. I have lost 20 lbs, so far. I have not been able to do that on my own EVER.

I would call the doc to see what they say. If you do not have a fever, I do not think there would be a problem.
-
I was banded on the same day as you. How are you doing now? Did your pain get better?
-
Going for my first fill tomorrow. I can't wait because I have been using up all of my will power to not pig out. I am nervous though!
-
I was on the liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery and had this problem the entire time. Maybe it will go away when you gets solids. If you are worried, give your doc a call.
-
Have you been stressed about something? I have always used food as a "coping" mechanism.

I was banded on May 30. I get my first fill this Friday. I have had no problems. In fact, I feel almost like I did not have surgery at all. I can't wait to feel restricted and get going with this weight loss!

PCOS makes you more susceptible to Type II diabetes due to the insulin resistance. Taking Metformin (I take it even though I do not have diabetes) is supposed to help avoid becoming diabetic.
-
I am yet another unlucky victim of PCOS. I have a lot of the symptoms. I take Metformin to try to hold diabetes off. I am praying that the band (got it May 30, 11) will keep the symptoms at bay.

Is there really a band in there?!?
chassyboo replied to TracieT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I feel the same way. I am eating smaller meals but not because they fill me up but because I am afraid of doing something to mess up the surgery. I was banded May 30. I still have a week and a half before my first fill. My weight loss has stopped. I lost on the shakes before the surgery but the thought of going back to those makes me depressed. I thought the surgery was my beginning but now I feel like I am getting ready for the beginning. I hope it gets better! -
also, Walgreen's has a generic for Miralax...
-
My daughter, 3, has terrible constipation problems. Our dr. put her on Miralax (2tsp once a day) for 3 months. He said that with chronic constipation the muscles are stretched and become less able to push it out. Milk of Magnesia is what I needed after surgery. Drinking coffee seems to help me, too. I hope something helps you.

What happens if I eat too much food too soon after surgery? I had lapband 2 weeks ago and have advanced my diet to eating what ever my family eats because I have been SO HUNGRY!! Why am I supposed to eat pureed meat when everything is fine? I have had NO problems but also feel little restriction in my eating.

surgery in 5 days..scared..help me..
chassyboo replied to drummer's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
2 weeks prior to surgery I was on a diet of water and protein shakes. I went through a lot of emotions. I was depressed, angry, lonely (I missed food) and determined (most of the time). I was told that I could have as many shakes as I wanted so that I would not be hungry. Try for 3 have 4 if needed. I started losing about a pound a day. That helped motivate me. Also, I made a paper chain counting down the days, removing one each night. I needed something visual. It will get better. You can do this. Think about how healthy you will be and how much life you will have left. -
Did anyone have a liver biopsy when they got the lap band done?
chassyboo replied to Latin_Nena82's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a biopsy. He is sending me to a specialist to confirm fatty liver disease. Left untreated (treat with weight loss) I could develop liver failure and/or cirrhosis. -
I had my lapband surgery on May 30, 2011. I have lost 20 lbs. (Most of it from the pre surgery liquids) and can't wait to lose more. I was so blessed that our insurance covered the surgery. It would have been impossible for me without that. I am determined not to become diabetic or die from heart disease. I love my family too much to go too soon.

Thanks for explaining things to me. I am sorry that I sounded a little like a brat. I will go back to my shakes. I was just interpreting what the dietician told me. I thought if I am able to eat pureed meat then why not regular meat that I chew until pureed. I am just so sick of the shakes! They taste really good and I have learned ways to vary the flavor but I am sick of drinking food. I will stick in there a while longer until I go back to the nutritionist this week. Thanks for the replies.

I am not very patient. I guess I am just asking what to do if the recommended foods leave me very hungry. Thanks for the replies. I really do not know what I am doing.
