Able to eat too much, so frustrated!
leann130 replied to Maddie Lynn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in the same postion as you are right now. I was banded May 27th and having really been doing what I need to do. I have felt like I have been on a diet for the past few months and I am just burnt out. I thought that this 'tool' would help me to not over eat but it really doen't. It is all mental for me. If I am in the right mind set I can do well and lose weight but if I am not in the right mind set my band is basically non-exisitng. The only thing that is different for me is the fact that I can not eat breads. I am very frustrated with myself. I feel like I have felt most of my life. If I diet (which I stink at hence the band) I will lose weight or If I don't diet than I don't lose anything. Good luck!! Hope everything works out for both of us. -
Does it take a while to feel restriction?
leann130 replied to TuxMama's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded on 5/27 primed with 3cc and just received my first fill of 1.5cc on 7/11, restriction is what I think every bander wants. As I read different forums, I am suprised at some of the responses that ppl give about the band being a tool and that we are responsible for our own actions. If I had the ability to control what I consume and to make those smart choices than I would have never been banned to begin with. Sometime I feel like being banned (weight loss) is like child birth, after you have lost some weight and are able to have more self control and use your band to your advantage than ppl forget about the struggles and frustrations that they encountered in the beginning of their journey. Anyway, Good Luck to all!! -
Trouble losing weight

I would recommend using a program like myfitnesspal to track your eating habits. This will allow you to see how many calories, cabs, fats, and proteins you are eating. You can also track you activity output as well. For me, I always felt like I did not eat much but with the help of this type of program I can see exactly what bad habits I need to break. Good luck! -
I am in a similar place myself. I was banded 5/27/11, but my diet is a little different. Post op 2 wks liquid, 2 wks mushie (there now), and 2 wks soft. My calorie intake for today was 530 which is extremely low in my eyes. My doctor told me to only eat 4oz per meal even if it do not give a full feeling not to eat more than that. To eat high protein foods and if hunger drink protien water and protien shake between meals. I think the protein is the key. Tried to eat mash potatoes and things like that in the beginning because the thought of mushie blended chicken did not sound very good but I quickly learned that the carbs do not curve the hunger. Just stick to it and know that there are other in the same shape as you. Good luck and congrats on your loss so far.

Had band for awhile, starting fresh

. Congrats on your new path choice! I was banded on 5/27/11 so I am still in the post op stage. My diet consisted of liquid for the first 2 weeks. This included my shakes, tomato Soup, broth, and sugar free Jell-O. I have just been advanced to a stage 1 baby food or anything that I can blend to that consistence. After this 2 weeks I will move to soft foods for two weeks than the rest of my life will begin. I know that every Dr gives a different post op diet so you might want to check with some of the other about what their Dr recommended. Good Luck! -
Hi Everyone! I have been reading the forum for awhile but this is my first post. I have been overweight since childhood and now at age 33 decided to have lap band surgery. I was banded on 5/27/11. My pre-op weight was 246 and am currently at 236. I have not really felt the benefits of lap band at this point, but it has only been 2 wks. I thought that after having this done that I would not feel the hunger, that the restriction would allow me to eat small portions but would feel like I have eaten the same amount as I normally would eat. I am waiting to have my first fill to see what kind of result I will get after the fill. I am satisfied with my weight loss but not with the hunger that I still have. I feel like at this point I could have done Weight Watchers, Atkins, etc. and had the same results in a month. Any thoughts or words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your support.
