I 've been interested in lap-band surgery for six years now. I have attended during that period 4 seminars, 3 consultations and many phone interviews but still can't qualify. Now, more people are aware of the great benefits of this life changing procedure and are being successful not only with the weight lost but with a life change. Yet for me, 5'3 -190lbs, jumping on every weight loss plan, exercise regiment, book, magazine, internet and tv offer, six years later still up and down.
I was so excited when I learned that the Food and Drug Administration approved lowering the BMI requirements for Lap-Band weight loss surgery. It was short lived because I don't have any related health conditions to go along with the lowered BMI. I have great insurance yet they won't cover it. I would pay for the surgery myself but don't have the resources to make that happen. I continue to be supportive and provide information that I have learned over the years  to my friends, family and colleagues who are successful and happy with the lap-band surgery. For me, I will continue to struggle with what I must accept. My yoyo weight, 179-192 lbs my heaviest at 43 years old.
Anyone that is able to have this surgery, you will lose weight safely and successfully. The results are life changing. Everyone that I have encouraged to look into the procedure and went through the process, have said those very words. "life changing".
