    Spouses reaction 2 weight loss

Wow, now I said or implied she was looking for an affair? You are really reading a lot into my posts. Amazing how they can be so mis-interpreted. Have you even read my posts or just gave them a quick glance? Try re-reading them without cynicism. I'm really not trying to be negative but supportive. Especially in relationships, it does everyone good to examine your own role in a disagreement. Pretty much in EVERY situation, each party has some culpability.

She is around, last active 25 minutes ago. Here is a link to her profile. You can also search for her. She is a great member of our community here.

    What is sliming?

Sliming occurs if you eat too large of a bite, don't chew well enough or take bites too quickly. As NurseGrace says, your saliva glands go into hyperdrive. I had it happen once and it wasn't a vomitting sensation for me. It was closer to choking. Not fun. I stood over the sink while this foam just poured from my mouth. I wasn't able to swallow for a few seconds and then it passed when my throat brought up the poorly chewed peach bite. It's one of those things that teaches you a lesson, for sure. Small bites, chew well and don't hurry the next bite.

    Spouses reaction 2 weight loss

Wow ... must have struck a nerve. Re-read my posts. If you can argue that each person doesn't have a role in a disagreement, then ... god bless you. All I said was to take a look at the motivation behind your own behaviors. That is all any of us can do. We cannot and should not attempt to read the other person's mind as I am not trying to read your. I didn't say you were wrong whatsoever. All I said was to look at root causes.
  5. Almost 20 months out, here. I can eat anything and everything, smaller quantities and takes me awhile sometimes. I CHOOSE my foods as well as I can, but sometimes ... The other afternoon, I found myself without a lunch and starting to feel burned out. Knew I had to eat. There was a McDonalds a block away, so I went in and ordered 1 cheeseburger. I was able to eat it all except for the last bite. I went into the trash. I was completely full. Took me about 10 minutes to eat it. About once a month, I will get a 6 inch tuna sub from Subway. I can eat about half of it in half an hour. I will then finish the rest about an hour or so later. I used to mourn not eating the way I used to until I started watching other people eat. Shoveling down huge quantities of food. I began to be so grateful that I didn't have to do that anymore. Love my sleeve.
  6. Hmmm ... not sure exactly what the question is. Plain yogurt has a very neutral flavor. Yes, you can add anything you wish to it as a lot of people will add fresh berries and the like to it. I suppose you could blend in a slice of red velvet cake, if you wanted to ... If you purchased yoplait red velvet cake fat free yogurt, then it is not a 'plain' yogurt. But even with that, you could still add anything you wanted. What is your concern?

So, you told him what he needs to do, but have you examined what your motivations are behind why you need to dress provocatively? Did you read the third paragraph in my last post? In every conflict, we each have a role and a part. It is too easy just to put it off on the other person.

    50lbs lost.. am I getting taller? :S

Losing the weight is going to result in less compression on the cartilage, therefore, you should be a bit taller. Less cartilage comression, the spongier it can be. Think about all the cartilage in your spine. We are all taller in the morning than we are at night just for this reason. Lose weight and the result is apparent always. Check THIS out.

    Can we have rice?

Rice is one of those foods I consider nutritionally irrelevant. It occupies so much space, and for what? Not a lot of good nutrition there and you would be better served by allocating that space to veggies, assuming you already have had your Protein in. They have a better amount of carbs and other nutrition your body needs. I'm not saying you can't eat rice, and I have and do occassionally, but only after I have reached all of my other nutrition goals. i wasn't able to do this until I was about 6 months out.

Typical days food intake for vets?

Almost 20 months post-op, here. Breakfast: Yogurt and a Protein shake (Premier) AM snack: banana Lunch: Soup - Chili, chicken veggie, bean and ham ... something like that Afternoon snack: Couple of those little oranges Dinner: Some lean meat, chicken/fish/pork with veggies or a salad with ham/tuna Night snack: Medium bowl of ice cream I lost 130# with the sleeve and am below goal. Like SuperSweetUms, I am able to drop weight pretty quickly if/when I want to by being strict with my habits.
  11. Our very own MassIndex is one of our model citizens here in the forum and now out in the world. Check out THIS article from the Las Vegas Sun. He was then asked to do a segment on NPR, too! I had the privilege of listening in live, but the podcast is now posted HERE. If you are needing some inspiration or are wondering what your potential is, then you have to check these out. Congrats to you, Mark, and to all others deciding to follow his path. Truly inspirational.

    Alcohol Abuse

Scotty, congrats on your weight loss. That is awesome! I am happy to hear you went to an AA meeting. Walking in the door the first time is the hardest thing to do, for sure. Don't let your momentum stop there. Pick up a big book (the blue book) or read it online. If nothing else, do yourself a favor and read the first 3 chapters. It won't take you long. If you find you can identify, then you will know what to do next. If you have an issue with the GOD text, every time you come across it, just substitute the words AA. Give it try. What is the worst that can happen? What is the best?

    Spouses reaction 2 weight loss

There is the belief that marriages should not be disposable. Hit one road bump and toss it out the window. Committed relationships are hard. Sometimes, there are miserable times. I have found the level of rigorously honest communication determines the level of my misery in about all of my relationships. IF I am open and honest about my life, struggles and victories with my significant other, then I find they will be more likely to do the same. Misery can be transformed into being closer than you ever knew you could be. But, of course, you have to be honest with yourself, first. What is your motivation for wearing outfits you know your spouse finds questionable? Is it to feel better about yourself? If that is true, then that points to needing attention from men and women who are not your spouse. Is it to upset your spouse because you know he doesn't like it? Hopefully you can see the issue there. Anyway you look at it, you are seeking attention and there must be a root cause for this.

    Hair loss

Were you aware that almost all WLS patients have hair loss? Compounding the side effects of levothyroxine, I wouldn't be suprised. I did not have thyroid issues and lost about half my hair beginning at the 6 month mark. Search the site for hair loss and you will get a wealth of threads.

    weight loss stopped

Please don't read my post from a cynical point of view. It is quite the opposite. There are 1,000s threads on threads on this topic ... one more is not going to make a difference. It's not frowned upon to post a new thread on a popular topic. I just want to suggest gleaning the great information that has already been shared by hundreds of other veteran sleevers. Which would you like? 4 or 5 responses to this thread or dozens and dozens of shared experiences?

    Help! Surgey question

No, you should be walking right now. They had me up and walking half an hour after I returned from post-op. You gotta get moving. Ask them again to take you for a walk. She is probably just busy and doesn't want to take the time. Insist someone take you.

    emotional

You've decided to make a change with your relationship with food. It is not simple or easy. The next year will be an emotional time as you go through this change starting now. Good luck, read the forum and ask any question you have.
  18. IMO, it is impossible to gain all the weight back. The stomach will stretch a bit, but we're talking about only a couple ounces. It will never return to its previous size. My surgeon laughed at me when I asked him. The bottom line is you will lose weight if you consume fewer calories than you burn. With the sleeve, even at 20 months out, I can get about 1,400 calories in on a good day. Most people get less than that, but I am at my goal weight and in maintenance mode. Have no fear ... you will be a huge loser!

    Mexican Chicken Casserole

I'll have to give this a try. Just no cilantro ... ick. BTW, comino = spanish for cumin
  21. You may have hit a point of equilibrium where the amount of calories you take in equal the amount of calories you burn on a daily average. If you would like to lose more weight, ensure you are doing the basics: Don't drink Water 15 minutes prior, during or 45 minutes after eating Eat lean Proteins first, then good carbs Exercise - push yourself, don't just go through the motions. Your heart rate should be up there. Do you track on MyFitnessPal?

    weight loss stopped

I'm just curious if you have read the threads on this topic and if your really feel the loss has stopped or stalled? You're right, the topic has been discussed at length and the information is still relevant and up to date.

    Insensitivity

I am so sorry to hear you had this experience. Some folks are completely ignorant to the struggles some folks have with weight loss. Sometimes, they have their own insecurities about their weight and reactions like you experienced is their only recourse. Don't let their childish behavior inside. It is their problem, not yours, so don't make it yours. This was the best decision I ever made for me and my family. My family knows it, too. Just because your co-workers are clueless doesn't mean you are making the wrong decision for you. This is your life, not theirs. It is your story, not theirs. Live your life, not theirs, Talk to your HR dept regarding your boss tomorrow. Don't wait as it may escalate.
  24. My research has shown that AllThatJazz is pretty much correct. The body can consume only so much Protein at any given time. It is widely accepted that 30g of protein at a time is the maximum at a single point of intake, and anything in excess is stored first in the liver as glycogen. If your glycogen stores are full in your liver, then it is stored as fat in your body's fatty tissues. So, 30g max, 2-3 times per day is what is recommended. Are there exceptions to this? Sure. If you are exercising rigorously, then you will want to up it. Weight lifting and adding pounds to your lifts weekly? Definitely need more. The quality of protein is also important. Stay away from the shots and focus on whey protein. It is the quickest absorbing. Of course, there are exceptions ... but stick with this and you'll be fine.
