  1. My surgeon basically gave me the option to try Ursodiol if I wanted to. I have the prescription and they said it wouldn't hurt me to take it (they are monitoring my liver to be sure), but it may not be necessary. They said that the population of UCLA sleevers is about 6% with gallbladder issues while 10% of the general population has problems, so they left it up to me. It seems like if UCLA has only had 6% of their patients need it, then I may not want it. But after reading horror stories on here, I don't want to go through a gallstone attack and gallbladder surgery. Tiffykins has really good opinions on this issue and she has experienced gallbladder issues. Anyone else have any side effects? UCLA didn't even prescribe it, my GP did after I read about it on here, then I discussed it with my surgeon before taking it....and I'm still deciding.

    10 Days Post Op

It happens to all of us, these feelings will pass. It's hard to have surgery around holidays, just keep telling yourself you CAN celebrate the next one with food, just try and enjoy the family and fireworks this time. You're close to mushy foods, it gets better from there. I am 4 weeks out and barely starting to eat soft regular foods again and it's great. I can have a small amount and be "Thanksgiving stuffed" and COMPLETELY satisfied. This is worth it, just get through the rough patch!
  3. I have ursosiol 300 mg. Are you supposed to take yours twice a day as well. I'm overwhelmed with this, prescription prevacid, well utrin, two multivitamins and a b complex pill. Lots of pills for this 20 something who was only on one pill pre-surgery! Freaks me out this one can damage the liver! Oh well at least all but the vitamins and wellbutrin are temporary (at least I hope the prevacid is)
  4. That's great, Amanda! I hope it's the same with me!
  5. Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum but have been estalking in the months up to my surgery which was Monday (6/6/11), I'm really impressed with the amount of information on here and everyone's experiences. I was sent home yesterday and they said I was doing remarkable well recovery wise. I'm 28 and started at 316 pounds. So I'm on day 4 (last day) of clear liquid diets (broth, Jello, water) and tomorrow I start full liquids until day 16 when I moved to pureed foods. I feel good but have just two concerns. The first is pills. I have been crushing them up and taking them and the taste makes me so sick to my stomach that I end up swallowing a bunch of air to stop myself from throwing up, then I deal with gas pains for a half hour to get rid of that air. It's so bad that I've refused my wellbutrin and am just preparing myself for the withdrawal effects, the antacid I will force down because I can feel it helping and don't want to risk damaging the new pouch. My doctor said even though he doesn't like the idea of cold turkey he is thinking this surgery will get my off the wellbutrin eventually anyway. I have seen people that started taking pills the day after, 3 weeks out etc, on here. UCLA is strict and they say never unless under 9mm in size, but I know that isn't true for everyone as I've talked to many post-ops with the same surgeon that take all their pills now. My second concern. I'm not too worried because the sleeve is so new, but did anyone else has mild discomfort when sipping the first few days? I wouldn't call it pain, but definitely tightness or discomfort when I drink my Water. I know the lemon crystal light in the hospital was the worst and I assumed it was the tartness, but with jello and water there is so definite tightness when I swallow, it does get better with baby sips, but I can still feel it. Did this happen to others and when did it go away? I am excited to see where my sleeve takes me and I dream of July when I can return to small portions of real food again, but am not willing to risk anything early...I've come this far! Thanks fellow sleevers!
  6. Sugar free jello, crystal light, sugar free popsicles, diluted fruit juices (1/4-1/2 juices, 1/2-3/4 water) and broth. If sodium isn't a huge issue with your bloodwork there is a broth that comes in a jar called Better than Brouillion. You can have that twice a day and still get less than 50% of your sodium, but it is good!
  7. Haha, I know what you mean! I am on my first day of full liquids too. I'm in love with watery pudding and malto-meal! My stomach reminds me when a bite is too big...lol
  8. Hey recent sleevers, I don't know about you, but it's true what they say about time heals all. The tightness I get when sipping is almost gone. I can take my broth, popsicles, Water, Jello, gatorade and crystal light no problem now. Today is my first day of full liquids so I've already got my food lined up: malt o meal (hot cereal), Protein shakes, cream of chicken Soup and fat free pudding and applesauce....we'll see how it all goes!
  9. I had my surgery on Monday (6/6) and I don't have much incision pain, but I still have some discomfort when I sip, it's very mild, but it's like I can feel the water running through the pouch and then it's gone. Smaller sips = less discomfort, but the feeling is still there. Seems less today than yesterday, I assume it will probably go away soon. Also, warm foods like broth don't do that to me.
  10. Thanks Kelly! I just realized I posted in the wrong forum! LOL, I'll get this right!
