    How Much Weight?

I think you guys are forgetting the fact I had this surgery TWO (2) years ago. And yes there were some very harsh words spoken, I even started a website about the Doc. I still feel he lied to me and I spent a buttload of money for nothing. (Except for losing 20 pounds)

    How Much Weight?

Oh Yeah, you wouldn't believe the conversations we've had and yelling at each other, now the Doc claims it will only cure Type II Diabetes in 80% of the folks who have this surgery to just cure diabetes, he says I must be in the 20% it doesn't work on. I'm OK with 20 pounds, I wasn't that heavy to start with, as I said I did not have the surgery for weight loss, I had it to cure my Type II Diabetes.

    How Much Weight?

I was told by my Doctor that my Type II diabetes would be cured, I also had a laundry list (see below) that I handed to him and point blank asked him if the surgery could do all of this, he read it, handed it back to me and said "yes" BTW, I still have Diabetes. It has been 2 years since my surgery, I weighed 194 going in and now weigh 174 pretty much all the time, I am still overweight but needless to say a little lighter, I have dropped from a size 36 pants to a size 34, not a big deal except I had a lot of size 34 pants I can wear again. I feel like I can eat as much as I did before, but I know I don't if I do "over eat" I get diaherra terrible, so I try to watch that, plus my stomach starts to hurt and it's sometimes hard to breathe. I just feel hungry all the time, so I do snack a lot just not big Snacks, If I could curb the hunger feeling, I think my weight would be OK. I would really like to find something safe to curb my hunger feeling. Sad News is I still have my Type II Diabetes, I don't take quite as much Metformin as I used to, but I still take it daily, the only reason I had the surgery was certainly not to lose 20 pounds but to get rid of my Diabetes, sadly this didn't happen and it's been 2 years since my surgery. Any suggestions on any of the above would be very welcome. Now for the list I promised that my Doctor told me would happen with the surgery. LAUNDRY LIST I GAVE MY DOC AND HE SAID THE SURGERY WOULD DO THIS !!!! Many patients with type II diabetes experience complete remission within days of metabolic surgery, long before significant weight comes off. This has led to new thinking that metabolic surgery may also be appropriate for diabetic individuals who are of normal weight or only slightly overweight. Heart disease Hypertension eliminated in 61.7% and significantly improved in 78.5% of patients 70% reduction in cancer Risk of death is decreased by 89% Weight Loss High Blood Pressure High Cholesterol and Triglycerides improved 70% Respiratory Insufficiency Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease and GERD Stress Urinary Incontinence Low Back Pain, Degenerative Disk Disease Degenerative Joint Disease Fatty tissue in liver Sex drive/libido issues Weight-bearing arthritis Eliminates or improves Asthma
  4. It has been 8 months since my sleeve surgery, my A1C has gone from 6.2 to 7.4 and I have developed high cholesterol (which I have never had before) Plus I now have protein in my urine. My Doctor here in Texas says the surgery is only 80% successful, even though he did not mention that in our initial meeting. So, here I am $12,000.00 lighter and my type 2 Diabetes is the worse it has ever been. I went to see the Doctor today, his first suggestion was for me to quit taking my meds and lose 10 pounds, then after re-thinking, he thinks I need to continue the meds, lose 10 pounds and come back and see him in 10 weeks. He says he thinks I am one of the 20% that the surgery doesn't help, even though as I said earlier, I don't remember having that conversation. Anybody know about this 80/20 rule? BTW, I was not overweight, I did not have this surgery to lose weight, My one and only goal was to get rid of my Diabetes. I must admit I am tempted to put my Doctor's name on this post, but I will wait a while on that.
