I started researching WLS about five years ago.  I was in the process of talking with a doctor about the surgery. 3 months into supervised diet I was diagnosed with breast cancer.Thats when I put WLS asside and focused on my imminent problemS. 1 year later I was then diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Not as bad as the breast cancer but still another thing to write about. About 3 years of dealing with this crisis I decided to start over again. I went back to the original doc office from before and found out that Dr. Patel was no longer there. This really upset me. I really liked his style. Dew to modern technology I was able to find Dr. Patel again. I went for a siminar and was able to start over with the process. After 6months of supervised diet and all other stuff required my patient advocate submitted my paperwork to my insurance for approval. This was on a Friday. The following Monday my advocate called me and told me it was approved.  On June 30, 2010 weighing in at 230 i had my surgery. Today almost a year later I now weigh 181. And feal great.
