Desperate for support from my Husband to have VSG
MimiMermaid replied to HappyFace's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
umm... yeah, my husband wasnt supportive of me having this surgery for all of 15 minutes. He expressed his fears and why he didnt want me to do this and then I had to give him a wake up call and remind him that he married me and agreed to support and love me no matter what. If my husband told me that he wouldnt be there for me, I wouldnt want to be married to him. Excuse my language but F-that! That is soo not right. He is being selfish and thats not what marriage is about. After I told my husband how things were gonna be, he has been nothing but supportive and now that he see's how happy I am, he now says "I can't wait till you're SKIIIINNNNNAAAAYYY either!" and thats what being supportive is -

DID TIME JUST START MOVING 100 TIMES SLOWER?!?!?!
MimiMermaid replied to MimiMermaid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Omg cay! That must have been hard on you for everyone around you to be thin my sister and I are the only ones that were heavy in our family but she went and got the lapband 2 years ago and turned into a stick, while I got left behind and still a fatty. I tried really hard to be happy and accept myself this way but my weight is really "weighing" on my heart condition and if I don't do something about it now that I can, then I will always be like this and I don't want to be unhappy and unhealthy for ever my husband (13 years) was not very supportive at first as he has seen me lose weight in the past without surgery but after 3 kids, your body changes and your metabolism slows so I didn't bounce back like I used to I've been a size 14 for about 3 years now and the scale refuses to move no matter what I do. I'm really short and have a small frame so all this weight I'm carrying is not good. I'm just so happy that our insurance agrees because otherwise I would have to go to mexico to have this procedure done. We are lucky and we are blessed that I have the insurance and you can afford it . Please feel free to e-mail me anytime and I will be your sleevesister -
DID TIME JUST START MOVING 100 TIMES SLOWER?!?!?!
MimiMermaid replied to MimiMermaid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
WOW!! First of all, congratulations on being cancer free!! You are a brave survivor. You are NOT a loser!! although, i hope that we will all be losers (but not the bad kind of losers) really really soon I think that people go to Mexico because it is a lot cheaper. I've heard a lot of good things about some of the doctors there but you're right about the after care. Surgery with my surgeon if you are a cash paying patient is approx 20K. My insurance is covering surgery for both me and my daughter. We pay 1K for the hospital stay and 10% of my surgeons negotiated fee, which i think will be another 5 - 6 hundred dollars. We are a part of the few lucky ones that have insurance that allows it and pays for most of it. A lot of people around here are cash pay and dont have 20k lying around My surgeon is Dr. Gregg Jossart - one of the pioneers for the sleeve surgery. He is great! We've gotten all of our pre-testing done. We only need to get our blood work taken care of, which we are going to do tomorrow we are all set to go in on the 22nd. I'll be first, then my daughter. We will have surgery in San Jose/Los Gatos, California @ Good Samaritan Hospital tomorrow it will be 26 days i feel like i'm counting down the minutes so excited!!! -
wow kbfree, i am soo sorry that you are going through this... i cant see how this can be healthy. You NEED water. have you tried ice chips or snow ice. i have a blender than can make snow.. do you think something like that will work? Do you have someone taking care of you? Also, can you get in touch with a surgeon here in the US to help with questions on what you should do?? i'm worried about you as i'm sure your family is too hope things start getting better soon. sending good healing thoughts your way.

I'm soo excited, and I'm jealous of those of you whose surgeries are litterally around the corner and a few days away. I hope all goes well with getting your new tummies -
DID TIME JUST START MOVING 100 TIMES SLOWER?!?!?!
MimiMermaid replied to MimiMermaid's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Caycaye! THAT IS SOOO AWESOME! Where are you having surgery? Who is your doctor? I feel like time is just going to slow. I'm not afraid at all. This wont be my first surgery, so that may be why. My husband is terrified that I'm going to get too skinny, and I'm thinking "are you crazy!!?? I can NEVER be too skinny!!!" LOL. This is all I talk about night and day. I'm dreaming of being skinny. In all my dreams I'm thin and running.. its soo cool. I will be getting my protein at GNC during the beginning of the month since we are on their card program and get a discount during the first 10 days of each month. I think I'll be getting the Isopure since those have zero carbs. They also have clear protein which is appealing to me. We need to really keep in touch after surgery to keep us motivated and moving forward -

Thank you khy It helps to not feel alone. I've been on the 17 day diet for a little over a week now and I've lost 6lbs so far.. I'm just so used to seeing the scale move down and then right back up again.. I am soo ready to do this and make it permanent, once and for all -

oh em gee.. is it weird that I have no pre-op diet??? I only have to take a cleanser the day before surgery and then I stop eating and drinkin at midnight the night before surgery.. Is there a reason why there are the preop diets? does anyone know? -

Pre-Op in SF Bay Area, CA
MimiMermaid replied to bethk12@gmail.com's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I believe he does about 200-250 per month. It's pretty good. He has a really healthy outlook on how to handle his patients and he wants you to live an as normal life as possible. He specifically said he didnt want us living on shakes. I'll friend you and then send you an update on the hair loss stuff as i will also have to start taking that soon. She said if she had known about it, she wouldve started taking it before surgery. Thanks for putting up with my blabbing. :gossip: Oh, and 24 BMI is what I meant. That is when I will be at my ideal BMI.:cheer2: -
Pre-Op in SF Bay Area, CA
MimiMermaid replied to bethk12@gmail.com's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Jossart uses a 32 standard bougie, he hasnt had 1 leak in over 2 years because of a new technique he developed and hair loss is normal after about 6 months but is only temporary. I'm also scared of that because i don't have much to begin with  I was told by a fellow sleever that i work with to take biotene? not sure exactly what that is, i'm assuming a supplement. I havent been able to touch basis with her but as soon as i do, i'll shoot you a message as to what she recommends. She has lost over 200 lbs. I also have a close to 40 BMI and hope to be down to a 24 at about 6 months pre-op (according to Dr. Jossart) :blabla: sorry, i talk to much - but i'm soo excited  -
Pre-Op in SF Bay Area, CA
MimiMermaid replied to bethk12@gmail.com's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have blue cross ppo. Jossart and Cirangle were recently put on our approved list, thats why I went with them. Started with Cirangle because he shares an office in SJ with a plastic surgeon so I didnt have to drive far. Then, bam - they tell me about this "fee" that isnt covered by insurance. So basically he gets paid the agreed upon fee from my insurance and then the "program fee" from me directly.. Not cool at all. I was devastated.. until I found Dr. Jossart and his excellent staff I've been waiting for approval for a month and a half and finally got it today and the office already called to schedule my date, thats how efficient they are. I am on top of the world right now and I don't want to come down. Not nervous at all. I know this is the right thing for me and this is going to change my life and make me feel like me again. There is a skinny chick inside that is dying to get out.. and no, I didnt eat her.. ha ha!! -

MimiMermaid replied to bethk12@gmail.com's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started with Dr. Cirangle (he wanted an additional $5750 in "program fees", decided to go with Jossart since they were partners and Jossart is ALL ABOUT HIS PATIENTS. A true pioneer and one of the best Dr.s that I've had the pleasure to meet. He and Cirangle use the same technique and you can see it online on youtube. Dr. Jossart has the expertise and the bed side manner to go along with the experience He is AWESOME!! I will be getting sleeved on the 22nd of AUG at Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Gatos/San Jose. Jossart comes to SJ a few times a month for his paitients in the South Bay. Good luck!! -

Is anyone else OBSESSING over getting this sleeve done? It's all I think about!
MimiMermaid replied to Pinkbetty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My fellow sleevers, I felt soo much better after reading all your posts. I thought I was the only one stalking my Dr.'s patient coordinator and Insurance company. I thought I was the only one that started each sentence and ended each text/email with "and when I'm skinnnnaaaaay" and I thought I was the only one with a husband, friends and coworkers that were ready to jump out the window because the sleeve is ALL I talk about!!! This is wonderful! I'm not a psychopath :willy_nilly: -

HI! Can you tell me how much you will be paying out of pocket with Dr. Alvarez and also, how long did it take for you to get a date set with Dr. Alvarez? What did you have to do in order to get your surgury date? Thanks so much for any info you can provide on how surgery with Dr. Alvarez works
