Hi there I have depression and I have my moods that are ups and down. When I crave I drink protein drinks or better yet I make a smoothie and I add all different fruits to it and ice and then blend it.Its a great treat for me.I have not had great experience with my band I had to drain it today because I have been very sick on it for the past six weeks,I just pray that it will get better and then I can start my journey with great success.I have lost inches on my own with exercising and just walking my stairs.I bought some exercise bands and they work very well, not hard work at all and I just wanted to let you know I stopped taking my depression pills the day I had surgery and I pray everyday that I never have to be on them again.Just hang in there and you will do fine.I will pray for you everyday.I will think about you on your journey take care Blessings Rhonda

Hi there I had waited for surgery for 2 years as well My BMI was over 50 and now its 37.I thought this surgery was great but I now wished I wouldn't have considered it.I was banded at a 14cc band on May 2nd/2011 and I have only lost 10 pounds in total. I had 9cc fill and I have been sick for the past six weeks. Can't keep nothing down and when I do eat it feels like I am going to die with the pain.I thought the clinic would have great support but the website is what is giving me the support. If I ever had to do it over again I would look at all the alternatives before this. Its a very slow process and very fustrating for the amount of money that you put down for it and its not a diet, its a life change tool. You have to do the work not just the band.Good luck and the slim band website gives you before and after pictures and its the same band. These people from Mississauga has helped me out a great deal and I didn't even have the surgery there, also they have a live chat and you can see everyone experiences. -

I have had these pictures taken before my surgery and each month afterwards.I weighed in at 244 on march21st/2011.Then after my pe-op diet, I lost 14 pounds.I was very excited to hear that.I was very committed to my eating healthier lifestyle change.I know my pictures are not the nicest pictures to see.I want to post my pic. every two weeks until I reach my goal of loosing 100lbs.I was very heavy since I have had my three children.I tried every diet and never really lost much and it was very discouraging .In 2005, I had a really bad fall and my weight sure didn't help me to recover.I felt like I was very clumsy all the time with my weight.I then in 2009 I had another accident,My left knee cap snapped and well I sure was in a very bad spot.I was on crutches for six months and then got very depressed with my weight.I asked my doctor if I could get the gastr-bypass surgery. It is covered by ohip.I took all the tests and then had to discover the health system denying me all the time for two years in a row,Denail after denial put me in a state of more depression.Feeling that I didn't belong,I then came home after being denied the very last time at the St.Joseph's Hospital in Hamilton, Ontario.I came home and did some reaserching for Lap band.I went on all the reviws and came across a few men that had the surgery and loved their testimonial.I thought what could I loose other than $18,000 dollars that I didn't have.I came across the founder of the CIBO Clinic in Toronto.Tom Saridis weighing in more than 500lbs.and he did the lap band surgery and lost 305lbs.I called and made my first consultation on March 21st/2011.I went there and met the great staff. They were all there to answer questions.I met the director of patient services Nisrine. She told me her story and it was very convincing to me that what could i loose.I was very determined to loose my weight. My BMI was 53.1 in 2009 when I started with the program. Now it is 37.My fiancee was very determined to give me my only Dream and that was to help me with the finance and the support that I would need to get to my goal weight.I am getting married on May 19/2012.I just want to walk down the aisle looking like a princess.I hope all works out for me.I have struggled with denial after denial my whole life and have struggled with fibromalgia.Lots of pain in my knees and back and with my two falls over the five year period,I had enough.I just wanted to be able to play with my beautiful granddaughters and just have a healthier lifestyle.I just wanted to prove to myself and to all the people that were always so negative through my whole life that I could just do It.I have felt great and hopefully will overcome all my health problems and be free like a bird.I haven't taken any mediction for depression since I enrolled in the lap band.I just want to say one thing that I would recommend the CIBO Clinic In Toronto to everyon that I know that would help them.We have all the support we need from all of the staff 24 hrs a day.I wish everyone great success to all of your journeys. We are all here for each other Good Luck!!

These are my incisions.I had five very small ones.My surgery went very well.I was at Surgery at the cibo clinic in Torinto,Ontario.I was to be checked in by 7am. The surgeon was there by 8am.I was taken by 8am-the nurse got me a gown and the surgery stockings.I put them on and then went into my surgery room.I signed my consent papers and then good to go! They got me prepped & ready for surgery, had hooked me all up and on intervenus.Dr.Dennis Hong had a bit of a hard time with my small veins to get me hooked to the IV-and a few minutes later I was out.I woke up in the recovery room.It felt like I was in and out.I was in surgery for 45 minutes and in the recovery room for another 2 hours to make sure every thing was going very smoothly.I had to pee and then I ate a popsicle and then took a pain medication. I was in pain a little bit and nauseated. The nurse game me a pain pill and then my prescriptions and then I was ready for home. All in all it went very well.I returned home at 1:30pm and was a bit uncomfortable wit a bit of gas.I took gas X strips and then I just settled in for the rest of my day.I was on clear fluids for 4 days, and then to full fluids for 1.5 weeks, and then Pureed for 1 week, and then soft foods for 1 week.I was very full with the amount of 1/2 cup per meal.I took the protein drink because it filled me up and made me comfortable.I had a pain on my left side for awhile after my surgery.I didn't have regular bowel movements and I think this was the cause of the pain.I got some sesame powder and took it once and now I am regular all the time.I got my first fill on June 6th/2011 and he gave me 3cc.I go back for my next fill in 3 weeks.I lost 14 pounds before surgery on the pre-op diet to shrink my liver before surgery.I was thrilled.I have lost inches and feel the best in a very long time.I would recommend this surgery to everyone that is interested in doing the surgery.I am hoping by May 3rd/2012 that I get to my goal weight, which is 130lbs.I was this weight before I had my children.
-

Don't know what to do???? I hate that I did this..........
Rhonda's journey replied to shellylycz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there I have had pain on my lower left side since surgery. Please don't give up! You can do it! Suggestion to you is you can try and eat what I have since the pre-op diet when we had to eat protein and all the green vegetables that you could eat.Six cups of vegetables for the three meals and protein. My protein shake I get it from my clinic ,but I ran out and I bought the vanilla protein with a green leaf on it,you can buy it at Loblaws.or Wal-mart.its about $62.00.I ate Mary-Janes chicken nuggets with no breading,I buy them at Wal-mart as well they are 10.99 a box and five of them are a good meal with salad.I ate a lot of tuna, salmon, cottage cheese ,chick peas, kidney beans, green beans, cucumber& cottage cheese, green peppers, bock choy, broccoli, chinese cabbage,my favorite meal was green salad with tuna drained and rinsed off-I added was 1/4 cup of cottage cheese and then I added my vegetbles to that with no salad dressing.and hard boiled eggs.We wern't allowed to eat any fruit, grains or breads. It was very successful for me.I lost 14 pounds before surgery and have gone back on the same diet for the next two weeks. It has worked for me.I also had to put a cloth of my side where the pain was constantly paining and used a rub for pain and then it finally went away.I don't know what it was ,but it was very sharp shooting pains.Good luck and let me know how you do.Also drink your eight glasses of water and I also took Gas X strips when I got the sharp piains as well and they work and I carry them with me at all times. -

My first consultation-March 21st/ 2011

From the album: My new beginning for me
I took this picture at my first consultation visit to the CIBO Clinic in Toronto. My first visit was March 21/2011.I wanted to have a picture to show my family and friends what type of surgery I was having. little surprising that nobody new what lap band was until I was able to show everyone what it looked like and how it worked inside of me.I was very happy with the results of my first consultation. The director of patient services Nisrine Shammas showed me her results and thats all it took me too convince myself that if she could look like that,I'm sure I can DO IT.My fiancee was very supportive through my decision making and gave me 100% funding to have the surgery. It sure makes a big difference when you have lots of supportive people to help you out from the beginning to the end.
-
