JenL37 started following February 2007 bandsters!, Going to get unfilled, My Doc Refuses To Give Fill and and 7 others
-
I too was unfilled in early July due some swelling and my Dr. thought it best to unfill and take a month to see if the swelling went down. I was at the same weight for about a month and exhausted when working out. As soon as I stared getting more protein into my diet, I was working out harder and longer and dropped another 5 lbs. I just went back yesterday and my swelling is down so I was asked if I wanted to be filled back up. I opted for only half of what I previously had due to my results. I am down 108 lbs in total and I think eating more of the right things is benefiting me. I don't think you are making a mistake because it was the jump start I needed, but didn't realize. Good Luck!

Hi all. My surgery was Feb. 5th and I have lost 43 lbs. since then without a fill. I couldn't be happier with my results so far, however I am starting to feel hungry again. At my last visit, my doc was very happy with my results and said a fill was unnecessary. The pounds are obviously coming off slower then in the beginning, however they are still coming off. He feels when I stop losing then we will discuss the fill, however with my increase in hunger I would like to put a small amount in so I keep progressing. He refuses and says "this is a marathon, not a sprint". Has anyone experienced this before? I haven't read a single story like mine where a band hasn't been adjusted and is working. Could this be a sign of a complication?

Thank you all so much! I am glad to hear from everyone this is normal, because I was getting very scared. I thought maybe I had made a mistake getting banded. I will hang in there and if it turned around for all of you then it will for me too hopefully.

Hi all! I was banded on 2/5 and initially I expected to be very tired, but it has gotten worse. I come home from work or a three hour outting and I immediately drop into bed. My limbs ache and I just can't function. I went to see my doctor and he said this is normal. I am eating what I have been told, taking my vitamins and drinking about 50-55 ounces of water which seems to be the only thing I can improve on. Even as a heavy person I was somewhat active with my kids and daily chores, but this feels like someone is dragging me down with weights. I do not have a fever and I haven't vommited....except for the exhaustion I feel like none of the red flags I was given are up. Has anyone experienced this?

I would call your doctor immediately. I was banded on 2/5 and haven't experienced anything like what your going through, but any kind of severe change should be addressed with your doctor. I hope you are feeling better soon! Good Luck!

I am post-op 6 days, but luckily not hungry. However old habits die hard and I am itching for something else too. It is just to satisfy the issue I had to have the band for, but food commercials are killing me. I know as soon as the soft foods start I'll be in a much better place but I made this commitment and I need to follow through. I agree that Isopure is horrible! Does you doctor allow the shakes? Hang in there!

Hi all. I was finally banded on Feb. 5th and even though they repaired a hernia a was unaware of at the same time, I seem to be doing well. I have a few more limitations, but the worst complaint is the gas. Good Luck to all the Feb. Bandsters!

Hi! My surgery is scheduled for this Monday, Feb. 4th. It has been a long wait and something I really want, but I'm still a little nervous. I'll keep you updated on my progress. Good Luck to all the Febuary Bandsters!

Keeping the band a "secret"???
JenL37 replied to kity's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is Feb. 5th and I have told only my husband and business partner. My soon to be ex brother-in-law had gastric bypass four years ago right after he married my sister. Prior to the surgery, he was what I thought to be a great guy, but as soon as he lost the weight he was out cheating on her. My entire family blames the surgery on why he changed and therefore would not be accepting of my choice. This is about me and my issues, and I don't want his bad judgements to cloud the good I am hoping will come from this. My friends, I will tell when I'm ready, but I'm just not there yet. I think this is such a personal choice and you have to tell those who you know in your heart will be behind you unconditionally. Good Luck! -
Hi. I think I was in the pre-op class with you. You mentioned this site during and I can not thank you enough. I have learned so much from it and feel so much more prepared. Good Luck with you surgery!

Thank you all for your imput. After hearing all of your valuable advice I doubt I will be joining Curves. I think a better start maybe just going to the "regular" gym that is not so limited. I spoke with a personal trainner yesterday, and not that I can meet with him every day, but he can guide me and set up a routine because I am so clueless about working out. My pre-op class stressed weight trainning with a cardio workout, so I'll probably start with him. My surgery is Feb. 5th, but for me it is important to be prepared so I hit the ground running. This is an amazing site and I can't thank you enough for all you insight.:huggie:

Has anyone have any thoughts on Curves? I was thinking about joining after I get my clearence to excersie, but friends have suggusted a "regular" gym would be better. I thought maybe I would start with Curves, because it would be short workout ad maybe I could build up my stamina and try other things later. Has anyone started out like this and had success? Any other suggustions?

Dr. Bertha is my doc and it is being prefromed at Morristown Memorial in NJ. How are things going for you? Is it everything you expected? Anything advice you could give? How has your progress been?

I am not on a pre-op diet, except the day before my surgery. I got a little nervous when I saw that on here and questioned the doctor's office. His nurse practicioner said it is important that I keep my exsiting weight and not to bindge eat or it could be an issue when I go in. I think every doctor is different, and even the post-op diet is a little different depending on doctors. Mine has you on a liquid diet for the first four weeks and possibly into week six, but my girlfriend started mushy food at the third week. Do you have a date yet?
