I weighed as much as 317 on June 24, 2010 and suffered from numerous co-morbidities: diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, renal failure, gout, and other unrelated illnesses (clinical depression and an idiopathic seizure disorder). Movement was slow, uneasy and uncomfortable. I hate exercising. My family doctor stated that if I didn't lose weight (and soon), I risked dying at an early age. Incidentally, I took an on-line questionnaire which calculates one's real age vs. chronological age, my results were shocking: although I am 48 years old, my REAL age was calculated at 74. I presently weigh 214 pounds, down from 242 pounds on the day of my surgery. I have had three band fills so far. The first two produced minimal results. With at total of 8ml in the band, I lost only 5 pounds from October 27, 2010 until April 28, 2011. However, since increasing the total band fill to 9.5ml on April 28, 2011, I have lost 20 pounds in only 5.5 weeks since. While I haven't exercised much (mostly attributable to laziness, but also discomfort and mobility issues due joint pain and residual injuries related to a recent auto accident), my plan is to begin a concerted exercise regimen when I cross below 200 pounds. I have already set up an arrangement with a personal trainer to commence ASAP.
