My husband and I are both in our 40's and both overweight.   We have three young children and we both made the decsion to have the Lap Band so that we can live to see them grow up.  My husband had the surgery 2 weeks before I had mine.  He had several of the morbidities.  I did not have any yet.  But I knew it was only a matter of time if I kept going the way I was.  Because I had been overweight for many years, and his morbitities insurance covered both our surgeries.  I'm still waiting for all the charges to clear before I figure out what our out of pocket costs will be.  But it appears it was well worth it money wise.    I've had one fill and have my second fill this week.  I'm hoping to feel a difference with this second fill because I have not felt much restriction since the surgery.  I can tell if I've eaten too fast, but I've been able to eat way more then I'd like to.  I've also fought hunger since the day after surgery.  I had heard that the band presses against the nerve that tells us we are hungry.  But apparently it's not tight enough on mine.  :-)  I'm down about 23 lbs, but I'd like it to move a litte faster.  My husband is down 40 already and not having the hunger issues that I am.  I'm not giving up though.  I know we just need to get this band adjusted correctly and that takes time.  So I look forward to my weightloss journey!
