I also stopped losing but it was because i have been grazing, eating fatty foods and pop. I have to get back on track with my dieting.

I volunteered at the Bank of America Marathon this year and one day when i reach my goal i would love to run one.

Double cheese burgers are my guilty pleasures. Although life after the band will only allow me to maybe have a 1/4 of it if that. I do however miss coca-cola dearly.

You said it Sister Sue, I could not find an emotion for what i was feeling and it was a time of greiving. Maybe its only me but i had a relationship with food and i turned to it for everything. Then one day you have to turn your back to it. There have been times that i feel like a junky for eating food. as if i had to hide from the world. GRIEF. thats the word to describe how i felt at time. Thanks Sue.

Congrats on your surgery. No you will not always have this pain. I was banded on 6/17 and that tightness that you talk about goes away after about 2 weeks. Not to worry, i was freking out about that too. Eventually it does go away. What helped me perhaps it is something you might want to consider is a tight shirt (girddle type) i got one at walmart for $16. The spandix shirt is found in the bra section and it holds your tummy in place which makes that pain easier to handle. Also remember that your port is looking for a permanent home. hang in there it will get better.

Hello Fellow Bandsters, I was banded on 6/17. I was to arrive at the hospital at 8:00 a.m. ' As soon as I arrived I was asked if I had a responsible person to drive me home. My Husband went with me. Then I was given a patien ID number that my husband can watch and keep track of on a monitor. I was taken to the pre-op section where i was told to change into my gown. Then i went into a room and waited while the nurses came to take my vitals & blood. My wonderful Dr. came in and asked how I was doing and informed my husbands and i that all we were waiting for was the OR to be ready to be patient and we would get started as soon as possible. Anasthesia Dr. came in and asked a few questions about snoring, sleep apnea, loose teeth, etc. Then they check my throat and felt around my neck to make sure that there would be no obstruction for intubation. Then my doctor came in and scribbled (YES SCRIBBLED) an "A" on my tummy with a marker and told me that in a few minutes i would be going into the Operating Room. My husband was taken to a room where he was he waited and watched the monitor for updates. I was given happy syrum in my IV and was told to relax and count to 10. I counted to 2 and the next thing I remember I was waking up in the Recovery room. I could not speak but when I did and i came to, all i could see were nurses around me hearing them say everything went well and I very low said "thank you" and went back to sleep for about 30 minutes. (or so they say because I dont remember how long I was aspleep) When I woke up I was feeling LOTS OF PAIN it was horrible pain in my tummy. The nurse said that the pain was from air/gas trapped inside of me. That as soon as i could walk around for a minute that it would go away. (As soon as i was awake the nurse called my husband to come back to the recovery room with me) Sure enough about 15 minutes later I was up and walking and the pain did begin to go away. After the nurse saw that I was walking around she called the doctor to do the barium swallow x-ray. If i passed then i could go home. I passed and 45 minutes later I was on my way home. Arrived at hospital 8am vitals and blood 10:45 am APEC - anasthesia 11:15 am surgery started at about 12 pm. in the recovery room about 1:30 woke up about 2:30 pm walked around by 3:30 pm barrium swallow by 4:00 pm heading for home at 5:00 pm Fully recovered and back to work after 7 days. I was about 2 weeks out of surgery when I tried it. I was the same a little bit of discomfort but no major pain. I had my surgery on 6/17 and I have no issues now.

Im am having surgery tomorrow 6/17 at UIC with Dr. Elli, I know that there are more people getting banded on 6/17. Just wondering where? Im scared!!!!! AND i :cheated: ...... Im am freaking out right now.

Hello Banded family, Im getting banded on June 17th too!!!!! i had 2 weeks liquid diet and i hated all 14 days....

ME toooooo!!! Banded Friday June 17th - but i have to confess i got scared and nervous and i had been ok with the entire procedure until yesterday I just started to cry and i cheated. I am so scared. This cheat is way to close to surgery and i am afraid that they wont do my surgery now

I am on day 3, the first 2 days were the hardest and my family has been supportive but I feel bad that they might feel as if they cant eat things around me. This is not easy and i feel very tempted to cheat or splurge one last time. Day 3 is almost over and 11 more days to go.

Hi Jennifer, I am also a patient of Dr. Elli, originally i was at one of his clinics but after the whole process was done the insurance said they would not pay of out of network. Dr. Elli refered me to his hospital were his Insurance staff took care of everything. He was really nice and his staff make me feel like a friend. I have absolutely no complaints about this doctor or his facilities. My surgery is scheduled for 6/17 and i am on day 3 of liquid diet.

Hi Everybody, My surgery is on June 17th. I am on say 3 of a 14 day liquid diet and i am going crazy. Not sure if im hungry or just force of habit to eat whenever i felt like it.
