I love unjury, too. I mix about half a scoop with about half a packet of Carnation Instant Breakfast and about 7 ounces of milk. It's still too much for me to drink in the mornings but when I'm feeling really restricted (but still hungry) this combo does the trick and keeps me full for a long time. I prefer the chocolate but have some unflavored on hand too to add to Soups, etc. They also have great sample/travel packs if you want to try it before committing. Unjury.com! Great stuff. The only taste I can stand!

Massachusetts Bandsters Chat
Sunflower73 replied to NewBeginnings2018's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all, I just moved to Boston last summer from the midwest, where I was banded in June 2003 by Dr. Santiago Horgan in Chicago. I've been lax in keeping up with adjustments and am anxious to get back in control. My primary is wonderful and actually knew about the band and wasn't shocked when I told her I had it (a VERY rare occurrence). She referred me to Dr. Vivian Sanchez at BIDMC. I met with Dr. Sanchez, she agreed to take me as a patient, and I could not be happier with that decision. I had my first fill with her yesterday and though I'm feeling very tight and a little nervous, I'm ready to be back in the bandster world again. So, if there are some folks around there who have been banded a while and have advice for folks like me who kinda fell off the wagon, I'm happy to hear it. I think I could use a little reassurance. On the one hand, I'm glad I got filled after spending so much time with too little restriction (and subsequent re-gains and testing of the band). On the other hand, I'm a little scared that my comfort mechanism is gone again. It's hard to deal with that, you know? Thanks in advance for the help. -Sunflower, age 34, banded since 2003, lost 80, gained back 30, am on the path to going down down down... -
Angela, I suppose I am an extreme outlier here, but I just got filled again after 3 years. The last fill I had was about 9 months after surgery. It was my third fill and it put me at 2ccs. I had a lot of life stresses too, including the money problem and the moving problem. I have finally had the courage to find a new surgeon in my new city and she's excellent. I had a fill (my first with her) yesterday and she boosted me to 3ccs. I'm VERY tight now and am remembering how it felt when I first had the surgery! On an emotional note, I really understand your shame and fear. I was terrified that when my new surgeon saw my GI films she'd tell me that the band had slipped, that my pouch expanded, that there was esophageal diletation. I was shocked when she said everything looked fine but I just wasn't restricted enough anymore. I'm thrilled to have this back under control now. All told I lost about 80 pounds and have put back 30 in the past 18 months, with half of that coming from the past 6 months. Life is difficult and stressful and we can't always follow the rules, but that's why I chose the band in the first place. This is how it's supposed to work. That's why it's adjustable. So be happy about that, ok? Good luck!

Hi all, I am new to Boston (moved here from the midwest) and am looking for some good follow-up care. I was banded in June, 2004 and haven't had a fill in over a year. I was doing great with a slow-but-steady weight loss but plateaued about a year and a half ago and now have gained back about 20 pounds (mostly, I think, the result of personal stress and a new anti-depressant medication). I'd love to jump back on the horse and really use my band to help me start losing again, but I'm not sure where to go in the Boston area for care. Could you all give me some advice on where to go? I'm looking for a follow-up program, a doctor who's open to helping patients who were banded elsewhere, and I'm willing to drive just about anywhere to get it. Thanks so much for your help! -Sunflower73
