We all weigh very heavy after surgery due to IV fluids. It will come off in about a week! No worries!
-
To the original poster - Pleasw don't worry about explaining yourself to the psychologist. I think you have a perfectly good explanation for your change of mind. Also you might mention that the shorter recovery period for the band is desirable. Good luck with everything and keep us updated!

Danielle, Did you have just the creaae incision or did you also have the vertical incision down the inside of the thigh?

Time To Start Over - Looking For Non-Judgemental Help

Best wishes! Let us know how it goes. -
My scars healed really fast and look really good at 6 weeks out. Very happy about that. My ps said to just keep them lotioned up rea.ly well. I was surprised he didn't give me anything special like you're talking about. The woman who did my massages in his office also said to just keep them lotioned up. She said she used vitamin E oil and cocoa butter. I bought some cocoa butter with vitamin E and I've been applying that daily. I k ow they could have sold me a boatload of expensive products, because I saw them in his office, but they never pushed it. He really did a nice job on my incision lines. The si.icon strios you're referring to are what most people use if they are worried about their incsions not healing nicely. Good luck!!,

Jill. i'm 6weeks post op from my tt and br. My swelling seems to go down a great deal each day! I've been told it will continue through the next couple of months. I know my swelling was probably at its worst at 2-3 weeks out. So hang in there. You will look amazing in no time!!

If You Had To Choose Just One...
highland replied to Jenn1214's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
MY first choice was a breast reduction. I actually had the br AND tt 5 weeks ago. The breast reduction has, by far, made the biggest difference! This is the first time in my life that I feel normal walking into a store! I love my ibt's! -
When You Hit Green Zone, You'll Know It
highland replied to kbliss78's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yes Green Zone is wonderful! I had some friends over today to lay out by the pool. I just came in at 5:00 and realized I hadn't had anything to eat or drink all day except water. No hunger at all. I'm sitting here having my protein shake that I planned to have for lunch!!! Go Green!!!! lol -
What Does It Physically Feel Like To Have A Gastric Band? Have Not Had One Done Yet... And How Much Weight Can I Realistically Expect To Lose?
highland replied to nellietheelephant's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Unfortunately the band does not stop your cravings for the "bad stuff", however it does help with hunger which in turn stops a great deal of the head hunger. As for how much you can lose with the band....how much do YOU want to lose. I have seen people on this forum lose upwards of 250lbs!!!!! The statistics say you will lose 40 - 60% of your excess weight. That is just an average. Basically that average takes the people who lose 100% of their excess and those who don't do well with the band and average them together...averages are very misleading! For me, today is my one year bandiversay! I've lost 105lbs, 1 pound shy of my goal weight. I couldn't be happier! -
Help My Doctor Doesnt Want To Give Me A Fill
highland replied to jessicaryon's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My experience is similar to the above posters. My doctor wants to know how long I can go without being hungry, and also how long does it take me to eat a meal. -
Sounds about right to me!

One thing new bansters need to understand....don't expect much from the first two or three fills. I felt nothing until fill 4. It's a long process to get to that infamous green zone, but when you do, it's wonderful! So hang in there, dig your heels in, and know that you can and will do this!!!!

Insurance Doesn't Cover, Submit Letter?
highland replied to Wisdom2KnowTheDifference's topic in Insurance & Financing
No luck here. My employer specifically excluded WLS so no matter whT my surgeon wrote, they denied me. It's upsetting because my i surance company has benefitted greatly from me losing 100+ pounds! I was tKi g massive amounts of insulin that was costing them $5000 per month. I know take 1/10 of that amount!!! By self paying for lapband they also will not cover anything related to it like a tt or panilectomy. I just had had a tt and br which I also paid for! With that said, I wish you all the luck in getting approved. -
I felt the same way for the first few weeks. I drank lots and lots of water to combat the hunger pains! Did I mention I drank A LOT of water during that time!!!!! lol It's strange to think about that because I rarely ever feel hungry these days.

I was denied by BCBS of Texas, but it was because my employer had a clause that did not cover WLS for any reason. I did not fi d this out until I had gone through all the pre op testing requirements! That was 6 years ago. Last year I set up an appointment with the surgeon and had my surgery at my own expense. Best decision of my life!!!! This surgery is worth EVERY penny!!!!

You have the RIGHT attitude! You'll do great!

I posted on this forum and found a wonderful girl that I sent 50 lbs of high end clothes to. She was thrilled and I felt great giving her the gift of nice clothes to wear as she herself shrunk!

There is a great article that was written by Dr. Simpson about restriction in banded people. Basically he says that banded people do not go into starvation mode or metabolic syndrome because our pouch allows the hormone that regulates satiety in our stomach to be stimulated quickly since it is in the upper part of the stomach. So your brain is fooled when you eat very little because the hormone is stimulated as if you ate enough to fill your entire stomach, therefore since the brain is fooled, " starvation mode" does not kick in for bandsters. Here is the link. Very interesting! http://drsimpson.net/newsletter/March-2010-Lap-band-surgery-newsletter/March-2010-Lap-band-surgery-newsletter.html
