Do you have a problem with Chicken???

Marinate it. Works everytime to keep it super tender and moist.
  2. I went in today for my 6 wk. visit. I was very upset that I had only lost 4 lbs in the 4 weeks since my last visit. My surgeon sat and held my hands because I was boo hooing! He reminded me that he told me to expect a 1 - 2lb weight loss per week. After he so caringly calmed me down I had my first fill. He reminded me to never ever be afraid to come in because of a low weight loss, he said it was his job to make sure I do lose weight, as long as I do my part, which I AM COMPLETELY! I couldn't be happier with my choice of surgeons. He does all the fills and appointments, and truly seems to care about his patients.
  3. That is too funny! I had my first fill today. Doc put 4cc's in an empty band. Not having any problems getting liquids down today so we'll see.

    first fill

I had my first fill today. My surgeon put in 4cc. No pain with the procedure and I feel fine so far. Hope I continue to feel the small restriction I'm feeling right now. OFF THE SUBJECT...... IS ANYONE ELSE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE TINY FONT SIZE ON THIS FORUM? IT STARTED YESTERDAY AND I CAN''T RESTORE IT TO HOW IT WAS. I CAN HARDLY READ THE POSTS WITHOUT A MAGNIFYING GLASS!!!!
  5. Ditto!!! I even took my scale on vacation!! lol
  6. I use fatsecret.com and LOVE it. It's database of foods is incredible. It even allows you to enter the barcode number on foods ypu can't find. My NUT loves the fact that the detailed daily food list I give her includes all the counts; protein, calories, carbs, fat, sodium, etc. There is also a place to enter daily exercise. Have fun exploring!

    Utter Shock

Congratulations on your approval! I know how frustrating it can be.It was almost worth paying for the surgery myself rather than go through what I went through 5 years ago trying to get approved! I was banded on June 27th!! Very happy with my investment. Just wish my insurance policy paid for WLS.

    Any june 2011 Banders???

I am very frustrated! My weight has not gone down in 3 weeks...grrrr! I've been eating between 800 and 1000 calories a day and exercising. My first fill, I think, will be this Thursday. I PRAY this will get things going. Everyone says this is normal but I see lots of people on this forum losing 30 lbs and more the first 6 weeks. Sorry for the pitty party!
  10. I have not lost one single solitary pound since my post op week!!!!!!! Three weeks on vacation following the plan to the grestest degree with little temptation and still no weight loss. What"s a girl to do????

  11. I was banded 6/27. i lost 11 lbs pre op and 6 pounds surgery week. I have now gone back and forth with 3 llbs for 3 weeks!!!!!! No weight loss at all. I have stuck to my diet plan like crazy and exercised everyday. Drinking 64 + ozs of Water daily. Forget restriction. Why am I not losing ANY weight AT ALL!!!! I feel your pain!

  13. I am so frustrated!! I lost 11 pounds during the month before surgery-3 weeks liquids. Surgery was on June 27th. I went down 6 lbs by the end of that week. Woo Hoo!!!! I've NEVER lost that much in a week. Of course I ate next to nothing because anesthesia always depresses my appetite for a week afterwards. I did get every drop of Water in during that time. Okay why am I so frustrated? I went down 2 lbs one single day during the past two weeks, but those 2 lbs have played games with me since that day up 1, up 2, up 3...I never know. I have kept track of every bite that goes in my mouth. I'm on soft Proteins now, not allowed any carbs except veggies and dairy which is great for my diabetes. I am averaging between 600 and 800 calories per day, between 20 and 40 carbs, 70 - 120g Protein, and under 25 g fat. I'm exercising 30 -45 min daily; nothing too strenuous yet. I know what you're all thinking- that's not enough calories. Well I'm 54 and very motivated. I feel like this is my last chance and I'm just trying so hard. Forget the band...how could I gain 1-3 lbs during the past two weeks eating like this. I feel hunger pains several times a day and I gulp water to help them go away. I called my nutritionist today and she was very nice. She wants me to up my calories to 1000 and see if that helps. I'm not sure what to eat? If I could have cream of wheat, oatmeal, potatoes, or whole grain breads it would be easy. Thanks in advance to all of you out there who I know will give me some words of wisdom. On a very positive note - I've reduced my insulin by half!!! Wow-my health was my main and most important reason for having this surgery. And it is helping no doubt. I'll be thrilled when I get "optimization"(new term for restriction..lol) out of my band. Thanks for reading and feel free to ask any questions if you just don't get my point! 14. Thank you for the last two replies. I'm hanging in there and trying to not get too discouraged. My dh has been so positive and supportive! I don't know how a person could go through this process alone. FYI I'm on vacation for the next two and a half weeks. Our car is PACKED with all the food and protein drinks I need - and my trusty scale! LOL
  15. I totally agree with Nurse 535! I get critisized for weighing daily but for me it helps me NOT freak on weigh in day because I have my daily record to look at.
  16. How wonderful! You are an inspiation to all of us bandsters!!!!!!!!!

    Clear protein srink

I drink Isopure Clear Protein Water. I like the Grape Crush! The 20 oz bottle has 160 calories, o fat, o carb, and a whopping 40g protein. I sip throughout the day along with my water intake. If you need to up your protein it's an easy way to do it.

    Afraid to call

I went through the whole pre op testing/insurance debacle 5 years ago only to learn my insurace did not cover WLS for anyone! I was so discouraged - gained another 40 lbs-aged another 5 years (53 years old now) and decided in May to bite tne bullet and just pay for thr surgery. I had my surgery June 27 and haven't looked back, only wish I would have done it years ago! So CALL!!!!!!

    Excited but Worried

Stick to the positive topics. There's plenty of them. My surgery and recovery was a breeze! Not even close to many of the pain ridden stories you'll read on here! Keep positive and you'll do great!
  20. Thank you for your words of wisdom! Aren't hubbies great - I was just crying on my own hubbies shoulder this morning after I got off the scale and was up 3 lbs from my 19 lost! Arghhhhh!
