    Depressed and confused

I am shocked at what people are eating or trying to eat. Two hamburgers - REALLY? I am 2 1/2 months post op and I can't imagine even thinking about eating those types of foods. The band is only a tool. You must make the right food choices for it to work unless you want the type of restriction that prevents you from eating; via puking and or slimming. Is that really anyway to live? My surgeon has given me a diet plan and I follow it to a T. I eat eggs, protein powders, skim milk,Greek yogurt, chicken, fish, veggies and a little bit of fruit,That's it. As you can see by my ticker it's a very slow process, but I intend to stick with the program for the duration. High protein, Low fat, low carb, tons of plain water, and low calorie. By the way my band is providing me with satiety, not restriction of food that will or will not go down. No PBing or slimming - that's my goal. I guess my surgeon looks at things differently than many, He wants me to eat normally without fear of getting stuck. I choose not to eat burgers, not because I can't, because I could,I'm not that restricted but because it's not a healthy choice for someone trying to loose weight. I'm sure I'll get blasted for not being supportive enough, but I had to get this off my chest!

Losing weight thanks to more protien!

This is what I ate today: Breakfast - 2 poached eggs, turkey bacon, and decaf coffee lunch - Lettuce Rolls: 2 bibb lettuce leafs stuffed with deli turkey, sliced tomato, and a touch of ff mayo, 1/4 c mango chunks dinner - 4 0z Tilapia, 1/2 c broccoli, and 1/2 c Carrots Snack- 10 oz Isopure Clear Protein Water Totals for the day- ( I use fatsecret.com to calculate) 630 calories, 79 g protein. 30 g carb, and 23 g fat Hope his helps!!
  3. I get it! I now have some restriction! Yea me! :)

  4. I have had one fill. At that appointment I had lost four pounds during my 2-6 week post op period. I was quite disappointed in this after reading so many posts of much greater loss on this forum. My doc said I shouldn't be losing anymore than this and to be patient. After lots of tears on my part, and hand holding on his part he gave my empty band a 4cc fill. I do not have any restriction but I am a very determined 54 yr old last chance kind of a gal. I've been consuming between 600 and 900 cal a day, with protein being very high and very very low carb. Here's the deal.....I've lost eight lbs over the last four weeks and my fill appointment is This week. I'm concerned he will think I'm doing fine and not want to give me a fill. This diet has been all me! I am hungry many times a day, I never feel full or satisfied, and I gulp water like crazy to keep from eating. Any comments are welcome!
  5. My surgeon clearly told me that he left my band completely empty at the time of surgery. I wasn't aware at that time they ever put anything in. Now I'm hearing a lot of people's surgeons put in 2 or 3cc's at the time of surgery. As everyone says, " all surgeons are different in their thinking".

    What helps with fill swelling

    you are correct!
  7. May I ask why you declined the fill? Was your last fill a bad experience?
  8. Thanks Jachut! Very, very interesting! Well I do LOVE my surgeon. He does all of the fills himself as he does not have a huge practice. His PA stays in the room with us but he does the fill which I like. He also went to the same university as me ( MSU- Go Spartans!). Funny that we both ended up in West Texas. So here's the story...I went for my appointment, he asked the usual questions and said let's do a fill. Afterwards I asked how much and he told me 1.5cc's. okay. So he stayed in the room while the nurse brought my water in. I took a sip and he said "well?" and I was like well what? He said, "do you feel anything and I told him NOoooo why? I proceeded to telll him that after my first fill of 4cc's I had been guzzling a 16 oz bottle of water in one gulp! He said well try to guzzle that glass down in one drink. I did-nothing! So he said lay down you need more. I was like okay! Lol He put in 1 more cc and had me drink. This time he said try guzzling that down. I did and he saw the look in my eyes and said uh oh too much? It kind of just sat there in my esophogus so he took out 0.5 cc's. Long story even longer...My fill ended up being 2 cc's. So now after two months post op and two fills I have 6cc's in my band and couldn't be happier. He and I agree that I don't want the restriction that means you can't eat, but the kind that optimizes your ability to feel satisfied and stay that way for 5 hours. Hope this makes the difference I'm looking for!
  9. Thanks for all of your comments. I eat a lot of protein everyday, usually between 80 and 100g, and I drink plain water, because I do like water-always have, 64- 100 ozs daily. I can't have oatmeal and all those yummy good carbs because my doc is on a mission to rid me of my very serious diabetes. I only get carbs from dairy, fruits, and veggies. And yes I do eat the Dannon Greek yogurt-I love it! My exercise routine, lap swimming, has ceased with the start of school. I need to get back in the groove. I come home absolutely exhausted after wrangling 20 eight year olds all day!!! LOL I think some of my major hunger in the past couple of weeks could be due to STRESS. I'll keep all of your comments and advice in mind as I move forward. Thanks!

    No Hunger After Surgery

The anesthesia will definately keep your appetite at bay for at least a week, this has been my experience every time I've been put under. I can't even stand the smell of food for about ten days!
  12. Are you making your own or using pre-mixed? I dislike all of the pre- mixed. I use Designer Whey Protein Powder mixed with skim milk and love it! It is 0 fat and only 1 carb which appeals to me because I am diabetic.

    Please Help!!

I would call the doctor. Nausea every day doesn't seem right. Two girls on this forum, who thought they could not conceive, just found out they are pregnant!! Yikes!!

    Psychiatric Evaluation

It's been awhile, but I remember having to sit in a room alone and answer 450 questions that were quite repetitive!! Enough to drive anyone nuts!! LOL

3 weeks post op and only lost 9 lbs!

As my doc says...1-2 lbs a week is all to expect. Be happy you've lost as much as you have. I lost only 4 lbs from weeks 2 to 5 post op. 1 lb a week.

    Carb Help....

I am on a VERY carb restricted diet per my surgeon. The only carbs I eat are in my chicken, fish, dairy, vegetables, and very limited fruits. Everything I eat is freshly made. The problem with the packaged meals is that they will always have way too many carbs. I have a Protein shake for breakfast (0 carb Designer whey Protein Powder), Chicken breast or fish for lunch, fish, veggie, and fruit for dinner, and Protein Water for snack( 0 carb).Hope this helps.
