How lucky you are! I live in the wide open desert of West Texas!!! Grew up on the Great Lakes so I'm water deprived big time!

A friend of mine told me about this so I made it today. Yum - if you like fish. I eat some form of fish everyday, but shell fish is my favorite. Boil 4 - 6ozs of cubed cod loin in salted Water for about 10 - 15 min. Dry on paper towels, flake with a fork and serve with melted butter and lemon, just like lobster! Rediculously easy and so good!

Going To Disneyland And Worried About What To Eat..any Suggestions?
highland replied to suemile's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I went on vacation at about that same time in my journey. I took my protein powder with mini blender and shaker, tuna pouches, and milk and greek yogurt in a cooler. This was a huge help to me. My family was great ro eat at seafood places at night so I could have my fish. The guys even went deep sea fishing one day and we had the fresh fish that night! It was great! -
I have a huge pile of high end clothing that I would love to give to someome on this forum. The ideal woman is someone who is at or above a 2X- 3X. Most of the clothing is jackets, cardigans, casual button down shirts and skirts. Everything was purchased from department stores and Coldwater Creek. The brands include; Ralph Lauren and Karen Kane, and the brands that Dillards and Macy's carry. I would love for someone who is just getting into a 3 or 2 to have these because most everything is a 2X with some 3X and several 1X. Just click on my name and I'll send it out tomorrow! Merry Christmas everyone! P.S. I've been taking things to the SA like crazy but thought someone on here might appreciate some quality clothing to get them by.

Before I had any resteiction I portioned out my meals and NEVER ate more even though I wasn't full or satisfied. My breakfast was and still is a protein shake, lunch was and still is tuna pouch with lite mayo and 1/2 apple, dinner was and still is 4 oz tilapia or chicken and 1/4 - 1/2 c veggie. What I'm saying is that I started from the very beginning eating like I was in the green zone. Now that I am I eat the same way. And by the way, I eat an average of 750 - 800 caloriea per day. I would never tell anyone how many calories they should eat because we all have very different metabolisms that are unique to us. Hope this helps. P.S. We ALL could eat a whole sub if we wanted those first 4 or 5 months but we didn't because we wouldn't lose weight and it would have stretched our bands that we all worked so hard to get.

Congratulations!

12 Days Post Lap Band Surgery And Feeling No Restriction
highland replied to Gizmo29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It usually takes 3 to 4 fills to feel any restriction. It's pure will power until that happens! This is a time for learning to eat correcrly so that when you do have restriction you will make the correct choices. In other words; get the biggest bang for your buck! Now that I finally have restriction (4 fills and 6 mo ths later)) I have to work hard to get all my protein in each day because I can't eat all that much. If I hadn't been practicing these eating habits I'm afraid I'd be filling up on other foods and losing my hair like so many with the band do because they aren't getting enough protein. Sometimes I think Surgeons fill you slowly so you can learn the correct way to eat with the band before you hit the green zone! Well I've rattled on long enough. Lots of luck to you! You will be sooo happy you did this! -

I'm Losing So Slow That Im Starting To Get Demotivated
highland replied to sheriah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If I understand you correctly you've lost 4 or 5 pounds since your fill on 11/29 and you think that's slow? that's 10 days. a half pound a day is far from slow! I have great resteiction at 7cc's and it just took me two weeks to lose one pound! Be grateful everytime the scale goes down! We are all different and I know it's hard to see people on here who lose at alarmingly fast rates, but that's not the norm. You are losing at a really good rate! Congratulations! -

I Hope I Don't Regret This...getting A Lap Band Unfill
highland replied to Cindy C's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Cindy you deserve a break!! I think you'll do just fine and if you gain a little bit - so what!!! You know how to get it off girl! Have fun! -
Michelle, It sounds like you are doing everything possible to help your husband. From reading these posts you know one of the most important components to success is keeping you doctor's appointments throughout the entire weight loss time. It kind of sounds like he's not ready to step up to the plate and start over. It is so hard and takes so much effort to be successful. I don't think there's any quick fix to his situation. You may just need to continue supporting him until he's ready. Best of luck to you and your dh!

I agree with Humming Bird. Your doc's office should fit you in if you explain the problem the way you have to us. -
Type 2 Diabetic/ Pre- Lap Band Question
highland replied to hearts4everfire's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please contact your physician that monitors your diabetes for advice. I am also a diabetic and without knowing your meds or insulin intake it is impossible for me or any other member to give you meaningful advice on such an important healrh issue. My insulin intake has been dramatically reduced since surgery and I test at least 4 times a day to keep my glucose levels in the appropriate range. My doctor has closely monitored me during the past 5 months to guide me thru this. -
Help... Newbie And Scared
highland replied to Whitegurl_80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Secret Bandit you have the perfect attitude to make the band a success! With the restriction I have now everything is so much easier, however it's still not a magic wand. I still crave all the goodies that got me here in the first place. I only hope that the scale moving down, the improvement in my diabetes, and my amazing energy level will keep me motivated over the long haul! -
Help... Newbie And Scared
highland replied to Whitegurl_80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shannonraeh that's what I did in the beginning and still do. I portion out the the reccommended amount of food on a plate and when I finished - that's it! I Walk away and guzzle lots of water to stay full!!!! lol And remember it will take two to three fills to get restriction so hang in there! -
Help... Newbie And Scared
highland replied to Whitegurl_80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your post really concerns me. Sanction is correct. The progression of liquids to soft proteins to solids is extremely important for the healing process. Yes, you can absolutely mess up ypur band eating this way. You are no different from any newly banded. There is NO restriction in the beginning for any of us. All newly banded people COULD eat massive amounts of food, especially if their band is empty after surgery like mine was, but we don't! I was banded June 27th and just got restriction Nov. 3rd with my 4th fill! Up until now it's been pure will power and desire to make this work. Please meet with the nutritionist at your surgeon's office and start over doing the reccommended diet. You will be so happy you did as you begin seeing the results you expected! Best of luck to you!!!!
