Band Size Vs. Fills And Fullness

Wow, 38 pounds in one month! Amazing! Does that include any pre op weight loss? It took me five months to lose that much! I have a 10cc band, and have had 6 fills for a total of 7.3cc's. We are all sooo different! One person never needs a fill and another, like me, needs this much to feel restriction. I almost never get hungry. I usually go 6 to 7 hours before I feel physically hungry. I usually have a greek yogurt somerime in between that span just to help get all my protein in. I have not had the quick weight loss as some, but I'm extremely pleased with my journey so far!!!! We all get there in the end.....just differently for all!!

    Swimming

Mine let me back in the pool at 2 weeks, but my incisions sites had healed completely at that point. Always ask your dr on issues such as this! Have fun in the pool!

22 pounds in 5 weeks is phenomenal! You're doing great! It took me 2 1/2 montha to lose that much! Keep up the great work!
  8. blondeblueyes - You will definately need to eat more than 1/2 c before you are in the green zone.

    Constantly Tired..

My dr also has me taking the B Complex sublingual. I have boundless energy! I don't know if it's the B or my weight loss. Someone will probably write that you are not consuming enough calories, however I average between 650 and 850 a day. You might talk to your doctor to make sure you're not anemic.

    Help Im Goin Crazy

We could all eat anything we wanted after surgery! Something our surgeons neglected to tell us! lol Unfortunately the first 3 to 4 months are the strictest, hardest diet you'll ever be on if you want to lose before restriction! Also, remember that restriction is not about getting stuck, it's about having the feeling of satiety and not being physically hungry for 4 to 5 hours after earing. Be patient, make good choices, and good luck! Everyone is rooting for you! Back to top Quote MultiQuote Edit Blog This Report Surgery: June 27, 2011 Weight Loss Includes 11 pounds lost pre-op!

Do any of you eat like this?

Low carb by no way means eating, bacon, ham, or any other processed meats to most of us. It means eating lean Protein first, then veggies, including legumes, which have carbs, and lowfat dairy, also good carbs. I personally don't eat any red meat, my surgeon's suggestion, and my choice. I actually have always preferred fish and chicken over beef and pork. Let's not be quick to judge because it's not what we do. We are all so different. Eating this way immediately lowered my insulin needs by half! That's before any weight loss at all! I am now taking one fifth of the daily insulin I was taking before my pre op diet. In summary - Everyone is different and we all succeed in different ways. The important thing is that we all succeed!!!!! Remember to follow YOUR dr and nuts rules! That's what you paid them for
  14. Yes!!!! Begin a food journal! My surgeon requires it. No journal - no fill!!! I know it's what keeps me consistent and on the straight and narrow. Good luck!
  15. Mrsinsanity I think we have the same nutritionist! lol Everyone is different, some swear by not dieting, others weigh, measure, and count every calorie they put in their mouth! I am of the second school of thought. My surgeon gave me very specific guidelines. He has me on a very low carb high protein diet. My only carbs come from dairy and veggies. I have a protein shake for breakfast (EAS 100% Whey Protein with 1 c skim milk 32 g protein). I have either tuna or Greek Yogurt for lunch 12 - 18 g protein). Dinner is 4 oz chicken or fish with cooked veggies or salad ( 25 g protein). If I snack it must be protein ( string cheese, nuts, or lean meat). I am in the green zone now, but even before I was this is basically the diet I followed. It was soooo hard but I gulped lots of water to make the hunger pains go away!!! Now I'm actually satisfied with this amount of food. I don't get stuck and I suppose that's because I don't eat bread, pasta, rice or red meat. To me restriction is about being satisfied AND a little uncomfortable if you try to eat too much. Good luck to you!

    "old Lady" Thighs

What's upsetting to me is my legs were the only good part of my body before surgery. I always had rediculously slender legs and hips so I was shocked when the hanging tissue skin thing started happening! didn't think my thighs could get amy smaller. It's depressing to me to now be focusing on my thighs as well as my stomach and boobs!! After all this I'll now have to wear a skirted swimsuit to hide my once nice thighs!!!! All complaining aside, I am soooo much happier with my myself after losing so much weight? Wouldn't change a thing! Let's have a toast to "old lady thighs"!

    Life In The Green Zone!

I'm curious about the number of fills you've had. I've had dr visits every month since I was banded and have been filled each time. At fill 4 I was in the green zone and so excited but it lasted just 3 weeks so I got another fill the next week. So once again yea I was in the green zone and thought I'll never need another fill. Same thing happened at three weeks so I got another fill on my next visit. It's happening again! I had my last ti y fill 3 weeks ago and I'm feeling like I probably need another tweek on my next visit. They've told me it's because I'm losing fat around the band therefore it loosens. My question is why have you been in the green zone without a fill in so long. I'm wondering if it is because I carry ALL my weight in my mid section?

    Normal Fill Or Not?

I also had 4cc's at my first fill. My other 5 fills have been 1 month apart. I actually think you will do fine with 5 and another 1 or 2 weeks later. You will get to restriction much faster than most! I trust my doctor and comply with his requests. He hasnt led me astray yet! Good luck!
  22. No pain at all just a little tint sting, less than a mosquito bite, if they do it right. I've had 6.

    New U.s. Study Out

I think the key words in the stduy lie in the very last sentence; motivated and informed! To me, this says it all about successful bandsters. It's the difference between success and failure.
