    Surgeon Suggests Gastric Sleeve

That was the best part of self pay; I was in charge of the procedure, and scheduling my surgery date quickly! I tried the insurance route about five years ago which ended in them not covering it. Wish I would have paid for it five years ago!

    3 Days Post Op....

During surgery they pump you with a great deal of fluids so u will show an increase on the scale. I didn't start "losing" until 7 days after surgery. Keep up the good work of walking and doing housework-that's why you're feeling so good. If you lay around all day you won't recover as quickly!!!

    I Used To Be 'fat'

Way to go!!! You must be sooo proud of yourself!

    Helppp Me Plsss!!

Walk, walk, and walk some more! Did I mention walking? lol The worse thing you can do is lay around thinking you need the rest. Good luck!

    Air Travel?

I'm at the airport as we speak waiting to fly home. No problems at all. Didn't notice any difference.
  6. I was a self-pay so it was really quick! I had surgery 1 month after my initial visit. Good luck!!,
  7. This is a forever rule!!!! I am totally in the green zone with 7.6cc in a 10cc. I am very lucky in that I can eat virtully anything, although I choose to eat mainly dense proteins, veggies and protein shakes. But, the one thing that will get me in trouble EVERY time is trying to drink during a meal. I really don't miss it except socially when I would like to have. glass of wine with dinner. Just tonight, my son had me over for dinner, and I absentmindedly began sipping some wine with dinner and it was a definate no go!!!
  8. your weight loss is above the norm. at 11/2 months i had lost about 12 pounds since sugery day. BTW i only consumr around 700 calories a day and the scale hasn't budged in 3 weeks! Consistency over time wins the race!!!!

    Discouraged!!!!

You are way over the average in pounds lost. Be happy. The scale cannot and will not go down every single day!!

    Incision Scars

Ditto!!!! I'm always amazed by the posts voicing concerns over their 3 or 4 1/2in incision sites. I only wish my stomach waa perfect outside of those scars!!!! LOL

    Am I Full Yet?

I also had a great surgical experience having very little discomfort afterwards. My band was empty after surgery so I had no restriction at all until 4 months and 4 fills later. I always ate like I had restriction, like you, I measured out my food and when that was vone I walked away. When the hunger pains came, I guzzled lots and lots of water! This is what is known as Bandster HELL!!!!!! Hang in there, and you will soon FEEL your band doing its job!!!!
  13. Just remember - restriction is not the inability to eat certain foods but being satisfied on much less food. It's up to each individual to make the right choices of what they eat each and every day. Good Luck.

    Unfill For Plastics??

I'm also looking at having the same procedures done in June. Nothing has been said to me about an unfill. I meet with hime again on Tuesday so I'll let you know.
  15. Wow! I can't imagine. I'm a once a week gal since being banded!!!! Ugh!

    So Far So Good !!!

You know I thought I would absolutely DIE if I couldn't drink before, after, and ESPECIALLY during my meals!!!! However now, after being banded for 81/2 months, I NEVER miss it!! What you'll find, as time goes on, is that drinking with or too close to a meal just makes everything kind of slosh around. It's very uncomfortable so you will soon, with proper restriction, not want to drink with or just after eating!! Really!!!

    Banded And Feeling Wonderful!!

So happy you're getting on so well.

    Hungry After 1Cc Today!!!!!

My dr differs from most. He just has me do Liquids for 24 hours after the fill then back to normal. I've never had an issue so I haven't inquired why he is so different.

    Confused?

My surgeon is very strict about staying on. high protein, low carb diet. If I was unable to keep dense protein down, he would NOT give me a fill. It's very important that you get at least 60 g of protein in daily.

    Dumping...yikes!

Did you just have the band or another procedure with the band. Dumping is not part of the band.
  22. What an accomplishment!!! A huge congratulations to you!!!!!
  23. I am just like you! I am, after today's fill, at 7.6 in. 10cc band and I have not had trouble eating anything! I eat chicken about 3 times. week and fish the other 4. I can eat salad, raw veggies, all cooked veggies and never have a problem. I tried some of my husband's steak the other night and had no problems. I am so thankful that my surgeon filled me slowly so I could adjust and completely learn all the bandster rules. I rarely eat Soups or slider type meals because my dr wants me eating dense Protein. I guess we're all so different. I would hate to worry about vomiting after every meal. It's only happened once so far. The offending food was sauerkraut of all things! I've eaten it since with no problems. Someone comitted that you were not "following the rules". I was never told NOT to eat a variety of foods. I was given dier that is high protein, low fat and low carb. So I follow those guidelines 90% of the time. There's nothing wrong with having the occasional sweet, bread, or red meat as long as you can. Good luck everyone and remember restriction does NOT mean an inability to eat certain foods, but being satisfied on much less food than before. Happy Bandland everyone!!!! Life just keeps getting better! Doesn't it??????
  24. Scarey! Sounds like you need to ask your surgeon to do the next fill. I have had 6 or 7 fills and they shouldn't hurt!
  25. I'm going to Dallas to visit my son next week. It will be soooo nice to not worry about the seatbelt buckling AND actually being able to USE the pull down tray!!!
