What Do They Have Us Do

If you want to be successful please follow your doctor's orders. They have you on a staged diet for a reason which I'm sure has been explained to you. Take care, and good luck!!

    Banded Feb 15Th

It is still very early in your band journey. Right now you shoukd be focusing on following your drs diet and the RULES. Most people can eat bread, pasta, meat etc in the beginning, but we dont becauae we are trying to learn new eating habits so that when we are at restriction we wont be constantly PBing and vomiting because we ate the wrong foods in the wrong way!! Good luck and try to follow your drs orders!!

    Im Banded!

    So happy for you! Congratulations!!!
  4. Remember insurance quotes and self pay quotes are two very different things. I'm self pay.
  5. Maddy1 I'm having a tt in May and it will be about $8000.
  6. Jachut how are you doing today? I've been thinking of you a lot today. I guess it was because I spent most of the day in the pool imaginng how I would feel after the tt and breast reduction!!! lol
  7. Please realize that restriction is NOT preventing you to eat and swallow. It is meant to make you satisfied on smaller amounts of food for longer periods of time. The last thing you want to do is throw up after five bites of food. That is too tight and vomiting frequently can cause a slip. I have 7.6 in my 10cc band so I am at full restriction. Vomiting is not part of my daily routine!!!! I follow the "rules" and my doctors diet plan. I rarely feel "humgry", however slider foods call my name often and I have to fight that urge every single day. I love sweets. UGH!Good luck because you are doing great. Everything will fall into place soon. Promise!!!
  8. New bansters please remember you are not on liquids, mushies, etc because they think you CANT eat normally, but because your band is settling in your stomach and HEALING! You can damage your band by EXPERIMENTING to see just how much you can eat. Most of us, newly banded, could prlbably eat anything we wanted. However we did 't because our docfors gave us a diet to follow for optimal results with our band. I always followed THE RULES and ate like I was in the GREEN ZONE so when that happened the transition was super easy with no PBing, or getting stuck. Good luck and try to follow your doctors instructions. They know what they're talking about!!!!
  9. Before and after pics don't really matter. What matters is that you are sooo happy! I am so excited for you. Your enthusiasm is wonderful! Congtatulations!!!

    Post Op Restriction

I didn't feel ANY restriction u til after my 4th fill. However, I always ate like I was in the green zone. I think that's why I had such an easy time on my journey to the green zone ( no stuck episodes, sliming, or PBing). Good luck and hang in there, restriction will be here before you know it!!
  12. anesthesia wipes out my appetite for at least a week.
  13. I'm having tt and breast reduction surgery on May 21st. My surgeon has told me what to expect, and my sister, who's the head nurse at a large surgical practice, has told me her version, but I'd like more info. If anyone has experience could you please tell me how long YOU were out of commission. I am a teacher so I will be off of work for the remainder of the summer, but I do not do REST very well. I can't stand laying around or sitting around. I'd like to know how long it was before you were able to get up, get dressed, and go on short outings to the store etc.. I sill have drains. My surgeon does nit use them, except with weight loss patients. He's very firm about that. Thanks in advance for any experiences you would like to share on this topic. Btw my sister will be with me for a week after the surgery.
  14. Thanks soooo much for all your thoughtful responses! It's so nice to talk to REAL people about their experiences. Happy healing to all!!!!
  15. Ditto to what Stephyanders and Elcee said!! Couldn't have said it better myself!!! The band is not meant to prevent you from eating!!!!!!! It is meant to help you feel fuller for longer periods of time after eating a meal i cluding a dense protein. Good luck on your new beginning with the band!
  16. Thank you! I'll check out that forum.

  18. I'm happy to know I'm not the only one who feels the restriction immediately!! lol. That is, once I began feeling restriction which was after the 4th fill. I've had 7.

    Choking

I believe it is because you are going to bed too soon after eating. I can't ear ANYTHING before bedtime without that happening!

The only thing that really helped my gas pain was to walk, walk, and walk some more. In regards to your protein intake that will come with time. It took me about a week to begin getting my protein requirements in. I would say to not push it at this time. Give yourself a good week to recover from the anesthesia. It really zaps my appetite!
  25. lifebegins2012 I have the same feelings of shame and embarrassment about letting my weight get THIS out of control. I did not take measurements and I am more than fine with that decision! Every time I go clothes shopping I more than see results. It's really a personl choice. No matter what, the weight WILL come off and you WILL look and feel like a new person!!!! Best of luck on your journey!
