    Weight Bobbing....

I find that if I don't eat too late at night and drink plenty of good liquids throughout the day, I am usually ok. My weight might jump by .2 or .5, but nothing more.

Scared To Eat Real Food Again...

I would also suggest shredding chicken and putting it in a light sauce.
  3. clothes on. I was weighed originally at my first scheduled group meeting that went through the different types of WLS. I do not believe you get weighed if it is just an information seminar open to the public.
  4. Welcome! Congrats on your upcoming surgery

    Ninja!

I just bought the Ninja Kitchen System Pulse and am excited to get to using it! I love the fact that I won't have to blend, stir, blend, stir like my old blender!

    March Bandsters!

My port pain has mostly dissapeared. I do notice some abdominal soreness on the opposite side of my port... Wondering if there is still some gas trapped there. As long as it's not in my shoulder, I'm fine!!!

I am in the same boat as you. I am 9lb down since surgery. I keep chalking it up to the fact I lost a lot in the few weeks prior to surgery. I know the time will come, so I am diligent in recording what I eat and trying to get my protein/water in. I am looking forward to getting back to exercise too.
  8. I did not test positive, but my surgeon required it before they would put you under. I thought that I might have it, due to some concurrent symptoms with apnea. The sleep Dr did say I woke up many times throughout the night that I don't remember, but that was about it.
  9. I did not have the women issues, but have read many times on these boards about women who are pushed into periods right after surgery, even if they are taking BC.

    Single Incision Lapband Surgery????

I have heard of it, but I think few Dr's do it.
  11. I use fitbit.com for food. I also have a Fitbit device that monitors calories burned, steps, and activity level.
  12. had surgery Tuesday morning, went back for a partial day Thursday and a full day Friday. I took advantage of an out of town conference on that Sunday and Monday, then did another partial Tuesday due to my red eye flight. Have now been back full time since.

    Nutrigrain Bars

it really depends on the nutritional makeup. I would recommend quest bars- they are high in protein and fiber and approx 160-200 calories.
  14. I was required to have someone drive me home from my outpatient surgery. I could drive the next day. I guess it really depends on how much pain meds you take.
  15. I believe there is a group for PCOS, just go to the groups tab and do a search

    Clensing Tea

did your Dr give you a pre-op diet? If so, follow that and be assured it is enough. If you are not required to be on a pre- op, you can do one anyways. The most common seems to be low fat/low carbs/high Protein or a liquid diet with a quality protein.

    First 6 Months

for something sweet, Jello has many sugar free pudding flavors- dulce de leche, fudge banana supreme, chocolate swirl, creme brulee, etc. during the summer I plan on experimenting with making my own ice cream using Jay Robb protein powders, milk, and ice in a blender. I have heard of people using the sandwich thins or flatout breads for crusts when they have the craving for pizza crust.

    Doin' It By Myself

I would have been fine alone, but some people seem to have a really hard time with it. I bounced back pretty quickly and has minimal pain. I would keep in mind that there is a lifting limit for the first month that you don't want to go over, so someone to help with heavier things is nice. try to get in with the local support groups. You should be fine alone but do need some support behind you.

    Post-Op Banders

I am 13 days post-op and feeling wonderful! I know the pain of surgery varies from person to person, but I had minimal discomfort and was up and about the day of. I stopped pain meds after day 3 and went back to work in a restaurant within the week. I would absolutely recommend buying a travel pillow or one of those Peewee Pillowpet's. I bought the Pillowpet and it was definitely a lifesaver. I used it when getting in/out of cars, in/out of bed, and sometimes walking around if my tummy felt sore. The pressure helped to relieve any pain from moving. I also went overboard and bought a lot of broth and yogurt. I was allowed full liquids right after surgery, which included pureed Soups through a sieve, so I really lived on sugar free pudding, pureed soups, yogurts, and Protein Shakes. I actually tried SF Jello within the first few days, and something about the texture did not sit well with me. If I wanted something broth like, I used Lipton cup-a-soup cream of chicken, which was much more satisfying than broth alone. I also used peppermint tea the first few days post-op and can't say whether it helped with gas pains because I didn't get any til day 5 or 6, but it was definitely soothing. I did write a list on my blog of the things I bought, the things I actually used, and what I would recommend if I were to do it again. I am now on my puree/mushy stage, so I bought a Ninja kitchen pulse to send everything through.

    Introductions? Yes Please

Hi there! My name is Stephanie and I was banded on March 20th. So far I have felt great. I had very little discomfort post-op and am almost two weeks out. I am so excited for this journey and to have the chance to be the person I have always wanted to be! I don't have unrealistic expectations, but I am tired of being the fat girl. I will be so happy to get back to the normal side of the clothing stores and be able to wear clothing that is not outdated or extremely overpriced, but still looks good. I am thankful that I could have this surgery at 23 and not struggle with my weight for years to come. Here's to us!

    Surgery Postponed

Hopefully all turns out well. Sounds like you made a good decision though, especially if you are less than satisfied with the surgeon you had.
