1St Fill 3Cc, My Surgeon Then Puts Me On Liquid Diet Again For Day And Half Ugh!!!!
NWgirl replied to caramelqueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, because you let the stomach calm down the first few days and then you start with mushies and go up to see what you can eat. -
Switching Surgeon's Post Lap-Band?
NWgirl replied to jayeedee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would file a complaint with the office manager about the receptionist. If they tried to reschedule you to a day that did not work for you, then it is on them. I would see how they treat the complaint. If they don't care, I would find a new Dr. -
1St Fill 3Cc, My Surgeon Then Puts Me On Liquid Diet Again For Day And Half Ugh!!!!

You are supposed to do liquid for a day or two and then mushies for another day. -
Bcbs Of Ma & Beth Israel Deaconess Med Ctr.
NWgirl replied to klawson617's topic in Insurance & Financing
high cholesterol and high blood pressure are considered co-morbidities, esp if the insurance company is paying for meds. the whole point of submitting is so insurance can decide if the procedure is medically necessary- not only for your health, but for their pocket book. It's a lot cheaper to pay for one surgery than to pay for all of the preventable health problems. I personally gained 10lb before my initial assessment because I too was in the 38/39 BMI and had borderline high chol/high bp but am not on any meds. I was approved the first try with anthem bcbs. -
Hiatal Hernia... Anyone Have Theirs Surgically Repaired?
NWgirl replied to adorkbl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have read that some hiatal hernias push against the pouch and can cause other problems. -
I would also say it was probably the tube down the throat.

if you live with these people, you can't expect them to change their eating habits because you are changing yours. They probably don't know what to say to comfort you right now, and maybe you are feeling low because of the liquid diet and not having food as an emotional crutch. it will all get better soon, keep your chin up don't take things so personally (much easier said than done).

I think a low carb tortilla would be better than the cheese. Cheese has a lot of calories.

When Will I Be Able To Eat Real Food Again?
NWgirl replied to Journey2Healthy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
usually you return to normal foods at 4-6 weeks depending on your Dr. -
Sometimes a spouse doesn't support this decision. I think it's unfair of them to expect you to stay heavy with current or future health problems assured to arise. If someone I loved could get something done to prolong their life and prevent suffering, I would do everything in my power to make it happen. I am sorry you are going through this.

Flying Day After Surgery?
NWgirl replied to thn4evr's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I flew to Las Vegas from Portland, Oregon and back the same week as surgery and felt great. I didn't get too much pain like others after surgery, so I was pretty much back to normal the day after. -
I would vary your workouts- don't spend it all on one machine. Also, how many calories are you getting? I just started back at the gym and am doing one cardio type class and one Yoga class each time I go- approx 2 hours there. I am only doing yoga for flexibility/back soreness, so one hour is dedicated to my weight loss. I would consider pushing up to an hour per workout 4-5 days a week. I am also eating between 1000-1200 calories a day. I have steadily been losing about 1 pound a day, unless I eat too late at night then the loss does not show.

Lapband With Plication?
NWgirl replied to ilikebunnies's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a post going around dedicated to the lapband with plication. If it was available for me at the time of surgery, I would have gotten it. -
A Question To Those Who Are Banded For Those Of Us Who Aren't Yet
NWgirl replied to azhoselady's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, small pillow is a must! Also, make sure to take your pain meds on schedule for the first two or three days, whether you feel you need them or not- if you let pain happen, it's harder for the meds to make it go away again. Don't buy too much stuff to start, because if you don't use it you won't have stockpiles. -
Make sure to read, read, read about everything Lapband- from good to bad, what to expect after surgery, fills, pre-op/post-op diet, bandster hell, etc. Personally, I am surprised by how many people get this surgery and then come on here and ask questions about things they should have known or expect to start dropping a lot of weight ASAP!

Starting To Get A Bit Nervous. Surgery On Tuesday
NWgirl replied to Doweegirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just make sure to get enough protein and drink/eat before you get crazy hungry. I find if I let myself get too hungry, all sanity is out the window. -
Super Newbie - My ?: Can I Ever Eat Semi-Normal Again?
NWgirl replied to txdee's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It varies from person to person, there are no guarantees. -
my surgeon didn't want patients drinking caffeine for the first two weeks post-op... Can't remember why, as I'm not a coffee drinker.
-
I would just say make sure that you are getting in 60g+ protein. If three shakes has that much, then you should be fine. If not, drink the extra shakes because your body needs the protein.
-
I eat three times a day. I usually get 80g+ of Protein per day. I also drink 85oz+ Water. I will enjoy some diet drinks (no soda, but diet Snapples, Sobe lifewaters, etc), but max about 20oz per day. I try to keep calories between 1000-1200 a day. This is a usual day of eating (http://www.fitbit.co...date/2012-04-12) - Breakfast (approx 300 calories): Instant oatmeal (weight watchers from Quaker has extra protein/fiber) and 2% milk - lunch (approx 400 calories): 1/2 turkey wrap (Made with light mayo, turkey, cucumbers, bell peppers, onions, tomato, mushroom, and lettuce) and about 3/4 cup cottage cheese (sometimes with fruit on top). - dinner (approx 300-350 calories): 1/2 turkey wrap (same as above) and possibly a sugar free pudding cup. I also get another 60 calories in from my Vitamins. I take an O-purity band multi, a chewable Iron, sublingual B12, 5000mg Biotin, 5000iu Vit D, Probiotic pearl, birth control, Calcium chew, allergy pill, and a Coromega Omega-3 squeeze.

Umm, wow. Sounds like the surgeon/hospital is ripping off your insurance. If they do send you a bill, I would contact them. Normal costs billed to insurance seem to be between 20k-30k, so this guy has got three times that amount.
-
I would request a itemized invoice, where there other medical problems that needed treatment?
-
no problem! If you haven't already, look up a blog by Lap band Gal on blogger.com. I believe she is in Eastern Oregon, but is at goal and maintaining for two years almost.
-
My surgeon/hospital only billed approx $20k... the amount billed is absolutely ridiculous. I would be on the phone asap Monday!
-
No, it is probably too tight. i would get some fluid taken out asap, otherwise you may become dehydrated.
