    Just Rambling...

I love your attitude. I knew if my insurance didn't approve me, I would have also found another way. Keep your head up, and I "hope" you have sleep apnea

    Upset Stomach

It's definitely the gas then Just relax, sip your liquids and give it time. The feelings will go away.

    Can You Guys Help Me?

If you never properly used your band (fill wise) and didn't go to the super low cal diet, then I think if you call your surgeon and get back on the horse you will do fine

    Upset Stomach

When did you get banded? When I made the transition back to pureed foods and not liquids, my stomach was messed up for a couple days. I also burped a lot for the first three or four weeks and now I only burp occasionally.
  5. I've also heard that some have to have all fluid pulled from the band for a month or two and then start the fill process again, almost like the body gets too comfortable with the tightness and needs to be reminded.
  6. If you are looking for fast weight loss, the sleeve is it. The lapband is supposed to be about 2lb a week.

    A Bit Frustrated...

It probably gets faxed in and then someone from the insurance company has to scan it in and then someone looks at it... I'm sure you guys will hear something soon
  8. Please remember the first month is for healing, not weight loss. I know you're ready to get going with this, but give it time

    Family Is Driving Me Crazy!

You are probably feeling overly sensitize to food stimulus and your wife is just going about life as she did when you were pre-band. Have you talked to her about how hard it is for you right now to see her eating these things you (probably) like and what any alternative solutions would be?

    Failure

The response to this poster was not meant for you, but as a suggestion the the poster start their own thread because they had asked the same question on multiple threads started by others that had no relation to the posed question, meaning they would probably not get responses to their question. Thanks for getting snippy though.
  11. http://www.springerl...h5605015566218/ The study in the article from the original poster is from the 90's- the bands and surgery have changed since then. The article I posted above is more relevant with statistics and the current bands used.

General Question Re: Out Of Pocket

Out of pocket max should mean that is the max you will pay all year, unless you use an out of network provider. Call your insurance company if you need clarification because they are the only ones who can tell you for sure what is expected.

    Lapband Surgery

Unless the original surgeon stuck a needle in your port, there would be no way of knowing if it had flipped or not if it was still in the same spot he placed it.

    Failure

Do you track calories? How often do you eat? I'm guessing you are eating more than you should be. I would start tracking food for a few days and see what the calories come out as.

Why don't you start your own thread for this question? You will get responses geared towards your question.

General Question Re: Out Of Pocket

Most insurances require a co-pay amount anytime you visit a Dr, luckily mine did not. This means you may have a copay amount due for hospital stays as well. Usually hospitals bill after the procedure is completed, so if you are going to a hospital you shouldn't have to pay up front. If you are going to a private practice, that may be different.

if you have the Allergan band, ask your surgeon for the Lapband surgery kit. It's a yellow pack that they are sent. I had to ask for one, it was not readily supplied. It comes with a temporary card and a code to use on lapband.com to get the permanent card. I have not used it yet, but figure that when I get more restriction, I might.
  18. Have you seen your surgeon lately? I would go back in and talk with them. If you have access to a bariatric dietician, I would see them too. Almost sounds like you are having a plateau of both mind and body. You'll get through it.
  19. Try the Mio squeeze bottles too. They come in various flavors: sweet tea, peach, fruit punch, berry pomegranate, lemonade, blueberry lemonade, etc. You just squeeze however much "flavor" you want into water.

    Scared

I would not play around with this. If you've got an infection, then the faster you treat it, the better the outcome. Good luck!
  21. If you don't keep up maintenace with your band, you can always gain weight back. If you took out most of the fluid, you're pretty much wide open like pre-surgery. I'm guessing you started eating more and maybe some things you shouldn't have. Just call your surgeon and get started again. If you don't, it's likely you will keep gaining.

    Shoulder Pain!!!!

The shoulder pain can also be caused my pinching of one of the nerves along the stomach. It's not too common, but it does happen. If you are still a month out and getting shoulder pains, that would probably be why. To the original poster: It can be trapped gas. I had a delayed episode of it as stated in my post. Just keep moving around and if it is the gas, it will go away.
  23. my Dr likes me on liquids the day of fill, including before. Sometimes food can take a long time to drain from the pouch so she doesn't want there to be a chance the fill stops the food from going through. the actual fill takes a minute. I think I was in ans out of my last appointment on 15 or 20.

    Banders- Are You Hungry?

To further explain how the band controls your eating- Imagine the stomach is like a plastic bottle. To get to the top of the bottle, you must fill the entire bottle. With the band, a small pouch is made near the top of the bottle, which allows the top portion to fill without actually consuming enough to fill the entire bottle. The hunger "sensors" are located at the top of the stomach and so the band allows a reduction in the amount you eat, but it makes the sensors believe you're "full." With adjustments of saline, the band is made to satiate real hunger (not head hunger) for 4-5 hours. Another thing to look into is that I've heard in VSG or gastric that the stomach can regrow the sensors that are cut out. I'm not sure how common that is though.
