I have anthem bcbs through the Kroger national plan and it was a very quick process. From first meeting to surgery was about 2 months and would have been sooner if my surgeon was not so booked. good luck!

Going Friday To Schedule My Banding. We Have Serveral Trips Planned.
NWgirl replied to dianalyn's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I flew three hours four days after surgery and was fine. I did not have any saline put in my band at time of surgery. as for water, I was told 2 weeks as long as incisions were healing fine... I would be hesitant about a public pool due to so many different people swimming about. -
Why Would't The Band Work?
NWgirl replied to kr8160311's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Most would advise you follow a lower carb/fat diet. I would also say you should track your food/calories for a week or so just to see where you're at. -
4 Weeks Post Op And Can Eat Everything...help!!!
NWgirl replied to singingmom2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As the others have stated, you will need to be on a "diet" until you find restriction. This should include eating enough protein (usually 70grams + per day) and not eating high carbs or high fat. You should also be watching portion size because the pouch is only designed to hold a small amount of food and you don't want to cause a band issue because you are eating too much volume. -
Looking great!

Banded Since 2007 And Still Not At Goal
NWgirl replied to househuntress's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I would want to check for a leak. Have the Dr pull all of the fluid out next time to see how much is there vs his written record. -

What? Is An Intern Doing My Procedure?
NWgirl replied to OldMomOf3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How do you expect new Dr's to learn things if they don't have the chance to assist surgeons? If you really have that big of an issue with it, then tell you Dr you do not want anyone else operating on you. It's that simple. -
Congrats on your great loss so far!

I was banded March 20. For me, the stomach pains went away after a couple days and the gas pains dissipated after about 10 days or so. I did use a small pillow to hold against my tummy when getting up/down, laying in bed, or walking if my stomach hurt- the pressure seemed to ease the discomfort. I would recommend drinking peppermint tea (supposed to help with gas pains) and making sure to drink all your necessary fluids. My dry mouth went away the first day.

You could strain a chicken noodle soup and just drink the broth.

I Get My First Fill Tomorrow And I'm Scared!!
NWgirl replied to SashaWLS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The fill itself is pretty painless and is over quickly. My surgeon likes 48hr of liquids and then a day of mushies after a fill. -
If your Dr does not give you the recommendation, I would find one who will.

Something along these lines happened to me yesterday as I was jogging. Needless to say, I don't know why it's happening, but I did find some hard candies to suck on earlier that day and had not eaten for over 6 hours at the time of my jog. Hopefully it does not happen again!

Premier Protein Shakes?
NWgirl replied to Scooby_Who's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They are definitely drinkable, but nothing great. Of all the shakes I have tried, I have kept these around because they really seem to be the ones I tolerate the most. -
Premier Protein Shakes?

How much are they with coupon? I still have a full case, but maybe I should stock up on some more! -
Are you using a small pillow to hold against your stomach? I found it really helpful the first couple days post-op. Also, make sure you are taking your pain meds on a schedule and not when you start to feel more pain because they will not work as well.

That is probably the side your port is sewn in to.

I have Anthem BCBS national plan through Kroger. There was no supervised diet requirement for me. I literally had to type up a list with names of diets, year of diet, and amount of weight lost on diets. I had to estimate on a good deal of diets because I do not remember the small amount of weight I lost on some random diet years ago. My only complaint is that I was required to see a dietician by my clinic, but my Anthem BCBS did not cover any type of nutritional counseling (if that's not the weirdest thing ever). I was approved after a two week wait. I was BMI 41 or 42. I don't really have any medical issues- my cholesterol was a tad high and my blood pressure is usually a little high too, but I am not on medication for either. I also have a thyroid condition that is medicated. I had Sue as my case manager with Anthem and she was awesome!

It is usually the surgeon's preference. Pre-op, my surgeon showed me exactly where it would be placed.

Why Does The Port Flip?
NWgirl replied to litl1997's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Too much activity in the healing phase can cause sutures to pop or to not be as strong, which could cause port issues as well. Some have hypothesized that some people's bodies slowly reject a suture type, which could cause the sutures to lose hold and flip the port. -
Also, have you looked into Carecredit? It's a healthcare credit card and they usually have some decent promos for financing.

Can you be fitted with a new band?
