I would recommend talking to your surgical team. I never did try HCG, but always heard when people stopped the drops or injections they gained the weight back. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

No problem, I also worry about loose skin, but I figure if push comes to shove I can save for skin removal. I'd much rather be thin and healthy with loose skin than fat and unhealthy without!

What Do Your Meals Look Like? Portion Size? Types Of Food?
NWgirl replied to mimi81082's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My biggest recommendation is find a staple meal you could eat all the time. I like to go to Trader Joe's and buy their frozen foods because they taste fresh and they have good protein. I also like to keep jerky on hand, string cheese, Greek yogurt, steel cut oats, etc. For lunches, I usually try to make a "stir fry" with chicken, some dressing, and some veggies and then mix together. Sometimes I also have a sandwich. -
What size band do you have? That seems like an awfully large first fill! It just goes to show how we all vary, I have about 5cc in my 10cc band and am in the green zone. Also, for some people it can take up to two weeks for the fill to kick in. It's really weird, but maybe this will be the case for you. Just remember to chew a lot and pay attention to how you're feeling.

Wow, you look fantastic! Congrats on the engagement and on many happy years to come -
Not giving you flack, but why would you start a fad diet when you just got WLS to change your life? I know HCG is supposed to be a very strict, low calorie diet.

Plenty of water, moisturize, exercise. Sometimes it comes down to genetics and the health of your skin. I have heard if you have stretch marks in an area, the skin is already compromised.

I was on full liquids at this point and would eat yogurt with no chunks or fruit, creamed soups, lipton cup of soup cream of chicken, protein drinks, and SF jello.. -
Senior Bandsters: Anything You Would Have Done Differently Prior To Your Surgery Date ?
NWgirl replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yeah, test out sample protein packs now so you have a drink you like for after surgery. -
I only eat when I'm hungry. Just make sure to get your required protein each day.

I would also suggest that you take progress photos pre-surgery and every couple months. Also, make sure to wear a cotton tshirt... Don't make my mistake -
Senior Bandsters: Anything You Would Have Done Differently Prior To Your Surgery Date ?
NWgirl replied to marketingdude's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would recommend that you start following band rules- no drinking with meals, small meals, some exercise daily, and that you are getting enough protein per day (body weight x 0.3=grams needed per day). It seems like people struggle most with not drinking and eating, so I'd start there. -
Try These! 42 Grams Of Protein In 3.8 Oz!!
NWgirl replied to amyknecht's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I bought these but have yet to try one. I would only recommend using 1/2 the bottle at a time because the body can only absorb about 25g protein at a time and the other is just flushed out. -
Went To Get Egd I Dont Have A Hernia :(
NWgirl replied to vmarlau's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Where there's a will, there's a way. There's nothing more important than your health, so I would find anyway to pay for or finance the surgery. -
There are a lot of misconceptions about WLS, so even though her mom had bypass does not mean she's informed. I think you were in the wrong here because you said something hurtful whereas her statement sounds like it was made out of ignorance about the actual band.

It sounds like you're saying as you gained more restriction, you did not re-learn how to eat and purposefully PB'd to relieve the pain of being stuck?
-
Even if you're only supposed to do three shakes a day, these numbers seem too low as most shakes have 150-200 calories each. What are you eating and what are your pre-op diet requirements?

I regularly take a stool softener and I go pretty regularly. When I first started this journey, I would take milk of magnesia but that was the only time I would go.

I can eat any meat as long as it was prepared correctly and not overcooked. chicken is actually the hardest to go down for me. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk

Is There Such A Thing As Too Much Protein?
NWgirl replied to RhondaMarie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
The body can only absorb about 25g of Protein at a time, but I am not sure if there are any problems getting too much.mi would assume the body gets rid of it without using it if you eat too much at one time. I would recommend drinking something healthy like a glass of milk or 100% fruit juice If you really feel you need to bump your calories. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk -
I actually find on the days I drink my skinny caramel macchiato at around 10am and do not eat breakfast, I can go until mid afternoon before being hungry. I swear if I eat my steel cut oatmeal puck and Greek yogurt, I'm hungry in about four hours. Sent from my iPad using LapBandTalk
