Today is the day! Thanks to all on this site that offer advice and support. I have no idea why Ive been up since 3am but either way its now time for me to get dressed and head to the hospital......I know I had to be npo after midnight but because I am so anal I stopped drinking a 7pm just in case. This process scares me but it seems so neccessary right now. I will keep you guys posted as soon as I can and again, thanks

Congrats!!! Keep me posted...my surgery day is on Wednesday Sept 7 and I am NERVOUS!!!

Its 9 more days until surgery and nowwwww Im nervous! Im checking and double checking to make sure everything is right. The odd thing is that my surgeon hasnt put me on a strict pre-op liquid diet but I took it upon myself to do it anyway. He also called and asked my to get my blood typed and screen just in case I need a transfusion, which certainly freaked me out. Otherwise Im trying to prepare the children because they do go back to school this week and they act like my husband cant fill out school forms and sign paperwork only MOMMIES can handle such tedious task. Im in the healthcare field and I know the good the bad and the insane of surgeries and I think this is what scares me the most. BUT im tired of paying extra money for big shirts, im tired of my knees aching and Im tired of wearing "comfortable shoes" all the time. Its time for a change and I am ready to embrace It! Thanks guys for all your support and kind words it means a lot to have a forum such as this.

The reality has finally set in that I will be getting surgery on 9/7/2011. I still have yet to find the "perfect protein drink" aside from isopur. My taste buds are so crazy but I want everything in place before I go getting a restrictive procedure. Im nervous but ready, any suggestions??

The bariatric surgery coordinator called me with blessed news.......I GOT APPROVED!!! On September 7,2011 my new life will begin. Im not getting the support from friends but I have to do what I have to do. At this point I have torn ligaments in my right knee, the pain is horrible. For each pound of excess weight it feels like an additional 10 pounds on my legs. Im the one out of breath and in pain so I made a decision to go through with this surgery. I only wish my friends and family would understand, but hey, this is my life!!! The surgery date is right around the corner and I am so ready to get through this. I appreciate this forum it has been such a positive tool during this journey.

They seem to think Im taking the "easy way out". But with all I have been through I know personally that this is one hard process!

Im simply waiting to get that call with a list of dates for this surgery. Im nervous but I am ready. I also found a protein drink that I can tolerate which was my biggest fear. So yea IM WAITING!!!

Its so much I have to go through to get where I need to be. The psych consult is the next thing and then after 2 more nutritional consults we can move forward with scheduling a date. Patience is really needed for this ordeal. I would love to know how long after the pre-op requirements are met do I have to wait for them to schedule the actual surgery.
