All of this started 11 years ago when I met the father of my first daughter. My pregnancy went good unti lI was 20 weeks along and then a bombshell hit. I found out my little girl had a heart defect called HypoPlastic Left Heart syndrome. She had to have a heart transplant to be able to live because without it she would die. So I had to deal with the stress of her being sick and had to keep up with all the doctors visits during the pregnancy and sitting with her 23 of the 24 hours of the day EVERYDAY! I lost my daughter due to a medical error at 6 weeks of her life. I gained a total of 85 pounds during my pregnancy, lost 90 the 6 weeks she was alive and then gained 60 pounds back when she died. Then after her death I was not able to greive for her the way a person should mourn losing their infant child. Instead I had to be everyone elses support. So I started eating........ My boyfriend at the time became physically and emotionally abusive towards me... After several years of being smacked around for the pure entertainment of a cheating lying no good man and being told I wasn't worth the air I was breathing I started eating more and more. By the time I got rid of him I gained 30- 40 more pounds. Since then, I have had 2 more children and got married to the man of my dreams (not my ex). He has made me feel beautiful again and makes me feel like I am someone good enough to love. So because of him I had the courage to want to change my life. I was ready to shed all evidence of the past.....
I woke up one morning and looked at myself in the mirror.... and what I seen disgusted me. So decided that day was the day to do something about it. So I got online and started researching my options. And I came across the Lapband website. I officially started my journey in December of 2009. I had my surgery April of 2010. It has been a year since my surgery and I have had my ups and downs but overall am happy with the outcome.
