Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
ginabobeana replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Have any of you tried the high protein "test tube" beverages? I have tried Profect which has 25 gram of protein and no fat or carbs and the New Whey Protein Bullet which has 42 grams of protein and no fat or carbs. They both taste pretty good. I also ordered the Bariatric Survival Kit from BariatricEating.com It is a great way to sample 16 different protein drinks. So far the Matrix Cookies and Cream is my favorite. I just thought you all might want to check these out...might make Bandster hell a little less "hellish" :-) -

Laura....I am getting nervous about everything too! They didn't mention a catheder at my pre-op so I don't guess I will have one....might not be a bad idea from the sound of it though. I am totally struggling with the 2 week liquid pre-op diet....not being very successful at it. I do great until dinner time and then tend to break weak. Tomorrow is a new day.... The more I think about Monday, the more nervous I get! -

Kat, Thanks for the info. I was just feeling like I was the only one who had to do the liquids for so long....feeling sorry for myself I guess. I will talk to my doctor and do what he says. -

The thing that is bothering me is that every doctor seems to tell their patients something different. My doctor said 2 weeks liquid pre-op, 2 weeks clear liquids post-op, 2 more weeks liquids (full liquids) and then mushies. That means 6 weeks of liquids. That sounds extreme to me. It seems like most people only do about 2 weeks of liquids post-op and then get mushies. What do you all think? -

I finally have my date! April 16th! I am very excited! I am having a difficult time doing the liquid diet though. I hope I can stick to it. Do people really go without food for a week pre-op and 3 weeks post-op? I don't know if I can do it...... -

Has Anybody Made a List of Things You Want To Do After Weight Loss?
ginabobeana replied to lapbandliz's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I want to have more energy! I want to feel comfortable in my skin...this excess weight makes it hard to bend over and even uncomfortable to sit. I also want to mountain bike with my husband and son. Last year I went a few times but had to stop alot just to catch my breath. I want to be able to keep up with the pack and not hold anyone back....especially myself. -
HI! I am hoping to be scheduled for the banding in March. I have federal BCBS and that shouldn't be a problem. I just have to have an upper GI and get a letter from my primary physician. I have already had the psych eval, nutritionist eval, surgeon eval, sleep study, and endoscopy. I am not a patient person and really want to get the show on the road. I too believe that God will answer our prayers and that He wants what is best for us....even more than we do. I am still praying that if this is what He wants for me then it will all work out, but there is no doubt that I want it. I think it is the only way that I will be able to lose the weight and keep it off. I don't think any of us should feel guilty for wanting to lose weight and be healthly. I am tired of feeling like a slug. No energy, no desire to be seen by people...I am really embarrassed by the way I look and I just want to be at home....that isn't healthy at all!

Is the hernia something that happened after your surgery or did you have it before hand?
