I was referred to St George's, but I don't remember having to wait that long. I was referred due to a very high weight, sleep apnea and depression. My doctor knew I had tried every diet under the sun when he recommended me, so I think he fast tracked it. It may be due to the sheer volume of surgeries performed there. They were so busy when it came time to do my operation that I was sent to a private hospital to have it done. Good luck! I hope you hear from them soon.

Hope For Second Year Sleevers
KitKatKate replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is encouraging as I am nearing my Sleeve anniversary and I am down 115 lbs now (I think) and I would like to lose around 60+ more. I admit, at the beginning of this procedure I thought I would drop it instantly and a year out I would be at goal. It definitely takes patience. I did join a gym to help things along, but by no means have become an exercise addict. I haven't stopped eating any particular types of food completely because I don't think that teaches me anything and I know from past dieting that if I restrict a certain food then I crave that food non-stop till I gorge myself on it. Lately I have been a tad concerned that my tummy may have stretched as I seem to be able to get more in before the fullness begins, but I have vowed to eat slower to see if that helps. One thing I do not do is get on the scale more than once a week (most of the time it's every other week) and I am not letting myself be obsessed with the numbers. Things are going in the right direction for me. As long as that continues, then I am happy. I don't want to be obsessed with food any more, so far I am not. I eat when I am hungry and I stop when I am full. This was the best decision I have ever made. My only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. -
Diet plateau from h*ll!!

You were right about the carbs! I stopped eating them, started eating more meats and BAM! I am back in the game. Only drink water as well, except for 1 coffee in the morning and wine at the weekends! Got a gym membership going too so I am loving the progress now. Thanks for the replies. It's good to know these stalls are common so maybe I won't freak out so much if it happens again. I write everything down now, even a tiny mint! -
How do you all handle Restaurants?
KitKatKate replied to janetrupp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I order an appetizer for my main meal. It usually works out perfectly. Or if my daughter is with us I get a main entree for my other half and share the one with my daughter. -
I am in month five now and I seem to be stalled out at 69lbs lost even though I started taking spinning classes and going swimming! I also feel like I can get more food in my tummy lately. Is it possible I have stretched it out? I don't know how I could have done this. I stop eating at the pleasantly full stage. Perhaps I am eating too many carbs and they are just sticking to me? Has anyone else had this happen? I have so much still to lose, it's frustrating.

What an exciting milestone! Seriously amazing. I can't wait to get to that point. I will be so excited! Congratulations!

I had mine on May 21st and I am of similar losses too. I am starting a more rigorous exercise regime this week so hopefully that will kickstart it, but according to the dietician I am exactly where they would expect me to be. It ebbs and flows apparently. 2 and a 1/2 stone is great though! Don't you feel a bit of a spring in your step? Well done us!

Thinking of Cancelling my Surgery.. HELP!!!
KitKatKate replied to imnotfat_momsayimchubby's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gastric Bypass is much more difficult to do with a big liver, hence the restrictive diet. My surgeon said it will obviously help the surgeon if your liver is reduced in size for the vertical sleeve op, but it's not as vital as it is with the bypass. You will be just fine, I am sure. I messed up a bit on my diet too. They know we have trouble losing the weight, that's why we are getting the surgery. We are human. -

Wow, this is amazing! You can really see the whopping great changes! Congratulations. This is inspiring. -
Ah, this was so comforting to hear. I was having the same issues. The liquids are not making me feel 'full' and I keep feeling like I could drink and drink. Good to know that this won't be the case when I start my mushy foods on saturday. Phew! I was getting paranoid that I stretched out my stomach by drinking too much Water and ruining everything!

Truly inspiring stuff, Congratulations! I can only hope I have some good results in a month's time! Well done!

Had the surgery on May 21st, sick of soup and worried...
KitKatKate replied to KitKatKate's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Thank you. I will try to drink more slowly. It's hard not to gulp down a big glass of ice Water. It's what I always did. Old habits and all that. Pre-surgery I never ate because I was hungry and I always ate till I was bursting. I must teach myself to listen to my body before I get to the full to brim stage. -
Hello from West Sussex, England.
KitKatKate replied to KitKatKate's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am originally from Maryland, America has far more varieties of every kind of food. I miss having all those options! One thing the Brits do really well is Indian food. There are a lot of lovely Indian inspired soups that I have been trying but those too taste the same after eating them day and night. Ah well, soon enough I can graduate to mashed potatoes. My name... I know! I had to say bye bye to them, they helped me get into this mess, but I can't pretend I don't love em'! -
Hi everyone. I am Kate from the UK and just wanted to say hello and that I am glad I have found this helpful website. I have my gastric sleeve operation on the 21st of May and things have healed up nicely. I am at the tail end of the liquid diet and get to move on to pureed or slightly textured foods on saturday. This is good because the soup gets a bit samey. I have lost 22lbs since the 9th of May. Can't wait to see a newer happier version of myself over the next year or so. I have quite a long road ahead of me but I am excited and motivated.
