I have heard of some people not being able to tolerate one or the other kinds of protein, whey or soy. Try the other and see if that helps. I also like the premier protein from costco. They are handy, premade, only a little over a dollar apiece, and taste good.

BBQ'd chicken thigh with spring mix salad with bolthouse ranch dressing(only 45 calories per 2 Tbsp.) -
The costco shakes are wonderful! I like the vanilla with nutmeg on top. It tastes like custard. I also mix them with ice and fruit to make smoothies. They are a little more expensive than powder, but the convenience is worth it to me!

Addicted to Crystal Light-plain water gags me

The Ocean Spray diet cranberry with lime has 5 calories per 8 ounces, but it is really good for a change. The calories are from real cranberry juice concentrate. -
My pre-op was like Carolina Girls, and I got so sick of sweet flavors that chicken broth with protein was my favorite thing! I used plain protein powder in Knorr chicken broth cubes, or Unjury chicken protein powder. The trick is to mix cold and then microwave, or it is lumpy.

How much weight has this whole forum lost

84 pounds! -
I have the Leslie Sansone DVD , Walk at Home. It is 4 miles and you can do all or part. It is like having a treadmill, but I don't have to worry about falling off!

How much exercise is everyone getting?
kmaas21605 replied to nikils015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Buy a pedometer, or Fitbit. I try for 10,000 steps a day. It doesn't always happen, but it keeps me aware of how active, or NOT active, I actually am. I work at a school and found that I get over 5,000 steps just walking around at lunch and recess. I bought my daughter a fitbit for Christmas and she was getting less than 3,000 steps a day with 2 small children. It was a wake-up-call for her, and now she makes a conscious effort to move more. Fitbit tells how many calories you have burned and converts steps to miles. I am on my second one because my dog ate the first one! LOL -
You can buy cup warmers. Set your cup or bowl on that and it should stay warm, I don't know if a plate would work though.

12 degrees here in "sunny" CA. More snow tomorrow!
-
We live within 5 miles of it, northern CA. I am too big a scaredy cat to hike more than a day trip. Sleeping in the wilderness is NOT my idea of fun!

And trying to wash it down with liquid doesn't work. Like a plugged drain, you don't want to pour in liquid.

I had total hip replacement 7 years ago. As said above, it gave me my life back!

The ultra tracks steps, stairs and sleep, the square one just tracks steps.

My daughter and I had our surgery May 2011 on the same day. It has really be nice to be able to encourage each other. We live 2 hours away from the Dr. so it is great to be able to go together (plus she drives and I don't have to). -
Getting exercise in when it's cold

5 degrees here in sunny CA. Up from -1 yesterday. I love walk away the pounds! -
I bought a fitbit in October. I love it. I average about 7,000 steps a day when I work. I have made it to 15,000 on a day that my hubby and I decided to take a "shortcut" on our walk on the Pacific Crest Trail. The past couple of weeks I have barely made it to 3,000 because we had 3 feet of snow and now it is extremely icy. I like tracking my eating on MFP, it is easy and makes me aware of what I am doing, eating too much and not exercising enough! LOL It also lets you keep track of your weight, I weigh 5 pounds more than I did one month ago. Time to get back to walking and tracking!

My story is just like yours. Same starting weight, I got down to 206 and now I teeter back and forth between 206 and 210. May will be my 2 year bandiversary and I would like to beat goal or at the very least, under 200. I have only lost about 10 pounds in the last year, but like my Dr. said, without the surgery I could be at 340 by now. My nutritionist asked if I was afraid to be under 200, and I think she might be right. I have been in the green zone for months, exercising, and trying to eat more protein and vegetables, and less junk(tortilla chips and salsa). I don't have any magic answers, but know that you are not alone, in this crazy journey.

I Got A Fill - Now Food Seems To Pass Easier
kmaas21605 replied to Bracchus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I have a fill I usually don't feel it for a few days. Usually get the fill on Thursday and it kicks in about Saturday. -
I can totally sympathize with you, I have teetered between 205 and 211 for over 3 months. My NUT asked if I was afraid to be under 200 pounds, and I think she might be right. My daughter and I have both quit losing and she has gained about 15 pounds. I don't know if I am waiting for her or what?? I have decided I AM going to be at 160 by the time I turn 60 in August. I AM going to eat only healthy, unprocessed food 98% of the time. And when I am unhappy about something I WILL walk, instead of eating!(This might be hard, they are predicting 11 inches of rain in the next week!) We have come to far and worked TOO hard for this to stop now! Good Luck and hopefully we will see onderland before the new year!

My Dr. would love you. He says "calories in, calories burned" for weight loss. I think you are doing great! Smile when they tell you to cut back on exercise, and do what you enjoy! Which is better than what I do, I agree to exercise, don't, and then wonder why this "tool" is working! LOL

Frustrated No Restriction! Large Band???
kmaas21605 replied to SabrinaS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am at 8.5 and finally at the "green zone". It took me over a year to get there. My previous fills would work for 4-6 weeks and then I would need more. This last fill has worked for over 4 months! Now I have to focus on eating the right foods! -
Try a tiny bite of fat free sour cream!
-
I cook it with chicken broth and then mix in salsa, olives, and the new Green Giant "steam crisp southwestern style corn". It is wonderful!!(the corn has onion, black beans and peppers)
-
I am charged for an office visit AND a fee for the fill, 9limited office surgery). my insurance pays all but the $50 copay. I made an appt. with the nutritionist last time, and it was covered under the same copay!
