    Some food questions

On soft foods, I could have veggies that were steamed or canned fork squishy. I avoided seeds like tomato seeds, cucumber seeds, and zuchinni seeds. I also was told to not eat celery unless I destringed it even if it was cooked soft. Fruit. I was allowed canned fruit, again squishy. I was told to go easy on the fresh fruit due to the tough digestion of fibrous foods. Absolutely NO peels. I also had a small applesauce or two. I really didn't do cereal because of the low Protein and fear of becoming a slider food. I tried mixing flavorless protein with my oatmeal, but it made a weird texture, and if it got the least bit hot, it clumped. I did have string cheese in tiny well chewed bits, but not at first. Melted cheese was fine. mostly protein, tuna, other fish, ground meats, chicken cooked moist and tender, cottage cheese, greek yogurt. I wasn't allowed raw fruits and veggies until 6 weeks. I loved my first salad.

    Weird question

I slept on my back propped with pillows. It stretched everything to lay flat. I did that to stretch, but couldn't stay that way to sleep. It was the middle of week two before I could be on my side with a pillow under my belly.
  3. The typical weight loss is more in line with percentages than amounts. People who need to lose more lose pounds faster, but it all is about the same percentage. I am 14 weeks and have lost 40 pounds (64 since pre-surgery). For me, that is 32%.

    My biggest NSV yet!

In the not too distant future, you are really going to confuse the kid who calls you "skinny B!*" when you break into a grin and say "yup!" Great job on the NSV.

    3 weeks post op

Take a deep breath. You will keep losing sometimes a lot sometimes only a little. Follow your doc/nut advice/plan. If you can, take your food log to your nutritionist and get some reassurance. It is not good to fear "everything" you eat, as this can become an eating disorder. I am not sure I understand your three meal question. As for the stretching, you will be able to eat more as your stomach heals over the next several months. The stretchy part is gone, that's why you can't even force that one extra bite.

    OBSERVATION

Lol that's the absolute truth. I never forced down so many nasty tasting things in my life.

    Vitamins make me SICK!

The iron in multivitamins is what always made me nauseous. I haven't had the problem with the chewable multivitamins after surgery. I also take the bariatric advantage iron with no problems.
  8. Its been a great week. Lost almost a pound a day :)

    Stalling Already :(

somewhere in postland, someone talked about how the liver stores glucogen? and when you lose so fast, your body says "whoa nellie" and holds on tight, releasing whatever was stored in the liver, then you stall. After a while, you adjust and you start losing again and storing whatever it was back in the liver again. So the cycle continues. I am not sure how accurate or scientific I have been but search around and I bet you will find more info.

    VSG - 5-year result study

I was amazed the Ghrelin levels dropped in half and stayed low after 5 years. I was sadded by the three who did not lose

    calorie confusion

It is very confusing, isn't it? I don't even think the docs/nuts really know. I have been eating 800-1200 calories. I am at week 13. Personally, I didn't want another "I am miserable" diet. I wanted a change of life. I eat what my body tells me I need within the rules. I eat protein first, I get my fluids in. I try not to graze, but if I need a snack or two, I don't worry about it. I try to make healthy choices, but I don't beat myself up if I eat a tiny snack size nutter butter. I track my food so I can see if there becomes an issue. Some days I end the day with 650 calories, others I end with 1200. This works for me. It may not work for other people. I wanted a tool to eat less, not another diet. I do want to be healthy, so I dont pig out on junk, but I also want to be normal. I may lose slower than others, I may not lose as much in the end. That's okay with me. I have lost 64 pounds since June, and 40 pounds in the last 13 weeks since surgery. Some weeks I stalled, some weeks I lost a pound. This week I have lost 6 pounds. Who knows? as long as I go down overall, I am happy. I would ask yourself what is most important to you? Those who lose fastest are those who stick to the low calorie, high protein, low carb, get your exercize, stick to it over the long haul. Personally , that wasn't for me.

    Can I Boycott Calcium???

I wonder this as well. I don't think anyone answered your question. Why DO you need a supplement if you are getting the recommended amount in your food intake? We get to stop drinking Protein supplements when we get enough protein. Why isn't it the same for calcium?

    Swimsuit Season

I can't imagine myself in a two piece. EVER! I have a pic of me in a two piece at age 6 i think, and even then, I had a big belly sticking out. I will be looking forward to some more options this year.

WTF did I do to myself?

I think its like when women have a baby. The pain of birth, then the nights of no sleep build, but then one day, that baby says momma and smiles at you and you forget all the beginnings. The sleeve is like that. At first you wonder if you were out of your mind, but as the weeks pass, and the weight keeps coming off and you feel sooooo good, you realize you did the right thing. (at least thats how it was for me) You just birthed a baby sleeve. Welcome.

    53 day stall

I am not there, only 13 weeks out, but i have heard a few things. Go back to basic rules. Check everything you are eating in an online tracker. do a 5 day pouch test. get your protein/cabs/fats in the appropriate level for ketosis up the fluids. What have you tried?

    6 Month Post-op Carb-free Diet?

I used the baby food meats to thicken my broth. I also addes a little garlic salt and onion powder to them for flavor.

    Swimming?

I was told to wait 4 weeks before any total immersion, no baths, no hottubs, no pools, no lakes etc. Only showers. I did sit in the bath with a little Water to shave my legs because our shower is impossible to shave in.

    Pre-op Diet

What is your preop diet? How long? I only had to do the all liquid thing for 3 days and it was utter HELL! I couldn't imagine how I was going to survive that for three weeks after surgery, but it was totally different. Afterwards, I couldn't imagine how I drank so many Protein shakes in one day. YOU CAN DO THIS!!! It is all worth it. Hang in there.

    eating too much

Not everyone is like that. I have less restriction. I was still on liquids at 11 days out. At 3 to 4 weeks out, I could easily eat 4-6 ounces. Now at 13 weeks, I can eat 6-8 ounces. I don't push my stomach or try to eat extra, that is just what I can eat comfortably. At 4 weeks, I had to eat 5-6 small meals a day to get everything in. At 13 weeks, I eat 3 meals most days, get everything in and am not hungry in between. I also eat 800 to 1200 calories. I was worried that I could eat more, but I am still losing. Check out my ticker. I have lost 39 pounds since surgery on Nov 22, and 63 pounds since I first went to see the surgeon in June.
  22. Just look for the 3 week stall. I stalled for 10 days around three weeks.
