Biotin & Hair Loss
fattymcfatterson replied to AmyL's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tautry, where do you get Biotin you can take sub q???? I have been hunting for it! Would much rather inject then take pills. AmyL, depending on your budget, you could try http://ovationhair.com/ My friends friends mom had multiple surgeries and chemo. Using this made her hair grow back beautifully. Or start using Nioxin or Sally's generic of NIoxin called Nutri-ox. I am pre-op but using Nioxin and "wild hair growth oil" from Sally's since my hair was already thinning. I just read a post where someone stated they took 5000 mg (or whatever) of Biotin per day. Good luck!!! -
Frantic Ready To Run
fattymcfatterson replied to Laurabr1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I just watched a video on youtube of a wls patient removing her tubes. It is kinda freaky but she is laughing through the whole thing. I personally watch videos of everything so I am not shocked later. And about the shots, when I tried the hcg diet I was freaked out, but now, if I could take ALL my vitamins through a daily shot, I would do it in A HEARTBEAT!! I used the little insulin needles and still take vitamin b that way. Wishing I could find biotin and silica in shot form to prep for hair loss! I say watch the video, so you aren't psyching yourself out. -
Freinds...how Many Of Us Have Them?
fattymcfatterson replied to Jolie_KeMi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know my being fat makes a few people feel better about themselves. Sorry to them. And ready4success, I sense the underlying problem with your friend is shame. She had it, failed, now you are, and any success you have where she failed is going to cause her shame to be magnified. I don't think her issue is with you, I think it is with her shame. Don't give up on her friendship and don't take it "personal". She may feel she can't relate to you and your excitement because she failed with her tool. Maybe try to help her "restart" her tool and take the journey with you. I wish you both the best! -
I am sorry to hear this. But no giving up!!! I would round up "fat" pics from the 2 consecutive years if you have them. Did you have to do a 6 month supervised diet? Is that what this: And I didn't meet the nutritional program guidelines that they require for six month. Is referring to? Did you do it and not lose weight or something? Just curious cuz I have my last appt for mine on July 24. Hoping we did everything right but I have not lost weight. Don't give up!

6 Month Supervised Diet I Am Almost Done With... Did I Mess Up?
fattymcfatterson posted a topic in Insurance & Financing
Ok, hopefully some people who have already been approved can tell me if I have messed up here. Due to my work situation I had to schedule my days like this: Feb 21 March 26 (34 days apart) April 23 (28 days apart) May 21 (28 days apart) JUne 25 (30 days) July 24 (29 days) It would just be awful if I was denied on a scheduling technicality. Anyone have any insight?? -
6 Month Supervised Diet I Am Almost Done With... Did I Mess Up?
fattymcfatterson replied to fattymcfatterson's topic in Insurance & Financing
This is exactly what and ALL it says about it: Documentation of participation in and compliance with a physician led multidisciplinary non-surgical program of at least 6 consecutive months in duration within the past 3 years. This includes a low or very low calorie diet, supervised exercise, behavior modification, and support, with possible medication. Actual progress notes are required. Summary letters will not be accepted. Not sure how I am suppose to accomplish "supervised exercise". I didn't so we will see what happens. And "compliance" in the diet? How do i prove that? Ya know, we PAY for insurance, it's not like we are trying to get this for free. Shouldn't be this difficult.. -

6 Month Supervised Diet I Am Almost Done With... Did I Mess Up?
fattymcfatterson replied to fattymcfatterson's topic in Insurance & Financing
This is the schedule of appointments I had for the 6 month mandatory supervised diet. Wondering if I did something here that would cause my insurance to deny it. I think I am just panicking.... -
get a sample of cinnamon swirl and the unflavored from www.tryabouttime.com Cinna swirl is amazing in almond milk!! I have a few other flavors i am trying and will post a review on each one. 2 samples are $3.99. I HATE protein shakes but these do not have that yucky taste after or during. Flavored with stevia. SO GOOD!

Having A Weak Moment! Pull Me Back!
fattymcfatterson posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my. I can't believe this is going through my head again!!! We have some friends who have just jumped on the "FIre ENgine #2" plant based diet. They are loving it and are kindly giving my fat husband and I encouragement to read the books and give it a shot. I watched the "forks over knives" dvd and I would LOVe to do a plant based diet with tomatoes, mushrooms, quinoa, beans etc. Well, a few years ago we tried to cut out meat and cut back on dairy and the scene went like this. I worked hard to get the recipes, make the food, then we would sit down to eat and SOMEONE would hate something about every meal. My step sons (12 & 14) would not like the corn, or the texture of the beans, and God FORBID I dare make anything with fresh tomatoes and OMG is that a MUSHROOM???? Well, not being encouraged I say screw it and go back to what they like, hamburger helper, spagetti, rice, rotel cheese dips, pizza, all the stuff that packs the pounds on me (and my husband). So I make the decision to get the sleeve. And here I am again, thinking "If we just eat a plant based diet I won't have to get my stomach cut out and NEVER have another DP or never be able to eat more then 6 ozs and never be able to chug my water... " So, I am making a two week menu of plant based food and I will write down all of their gripes and complaints over the healthy food I am cooking them. I am not TELLING any of them I am doing this. The funny thing is, my 12 year old, who is the one kid who knows I am having the sleeve, watched the video with me and says "Why don't you do this instead of the sleeve?" and I have to say because you boys and your dad won't let me. I don't have the time, energy or desire to make TWO meals every night!! I feel like just keeping the fridge stocked with salad and toppings and telling them that is what we are eating from now on. ugh. I need a Dr Pepper right now.. I think I am going to miss that the most but I know it is SOOOO bad for me. All that sugar. Praying the thought of it makes me sick after surgery. Thank you for letting me vent. -

August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
fattymcfatterson replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
oOoohhhh I am SO hoping to join you August sleevers! I have my final appointment on my 6 month "diet" on July 24. WIll have all my other requirements met by then so we can submit to insurance. I am having my surgery with Dr. Cribbins at Plano Presbyterian and may be having a hysterectomy at the same time. I go see a gynecological oncologist on July 11 for a second opinion and if he says it's the right thing then I will get a 2 for 1. Both surgeons would use the davinci robot for my surgery so recovery should not be more then 2 weeks. My pre-op diet is vegetarian supplemented with protein shakes. So glad I get to eat regular food those two weeks! I can do that!! If not August, then hopefully early september, we will see. Oh, i am 41, 5 ft 1, 230-232lbs, and I have been overweight since I was 22. I have thought about switching to plant based diet but I still have to care for my husband and my step sons, who are 12 and 14. NObody likes tomatoes or mushrooms, one doesn't like corn, and they are all picky and vocal about when they don't like something. I am doing this for me. ANd if you have not tried about time protein, you really should!!!! It has been the absolute best so far and I have tried ALOT. It is sweetened with stevia and just sooo good. www.tryabouttime.com -
ooohhhh I love seeing surgery videos!!!!!

Gum And Natural/whole Foods
fattymcfatterson replied to buffalogal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am still a few months out and have been looking at this too. I have always wanted to "eat clean" but was never satisfied. I want to make it my lifestyle after the sleeve. If you already eat this way, I would look to see how much of "what" you need to eat daily to meet your protein needs. If you can reach your protein needs with the right amount of beans/fish/chicken etc then you are fine (i think! I hope!) I HATE protein shakes EXCEPT about time. www.tryabouttime.com Check them out. I contacted them for a sample of their super fruits antioxidant drink powder. I think it has 33g of protein in a scoop. If it taste as good as the other stuff i tried from them i will be set. I am looking at recipes for homemade soups that I can up the protein in, measuring portions now so I can see what the protein content is in certain foods and writing it down. SOmeone suggested adding white beans to your smoothies to up the protein. I would love to see a thread started on clean eating suggestions after the sleeve. (maybe i should do it. or wait, maybe there is one) -
I was just lookin at Doo Gro online and went to my local Sally's Beauty Supply. All they had was the hair growth oil and the lady said it would be really oily in my hair. She said to try http://www.wildgrowth.com/ so i am trying it. She had lap band surgery a year ago and looks great. She also suggested sally's version of nioxin called nutri-ox. I am (hair) thin from a procedure I had done in january so i am trying anything i can. Even looking at that powder you pu on your white skull to make it look fuller. Hoping the other stuff works..

I won't be sleeved until August or September but am already starting a skin routine. I moisturize daily with a mix of Almond/coconut/vitamin e/grapeseed/jojoba oil and I am starting my dry skin brushing routine. This is where I learned about it. http://t-tapp.com/success/michellep/index.html It may not take care of it completely but I am sure it will be better then nothing. Actually, to be honest, I am only moisturizing the right side of my torso so I can see if I SEE a difference. And my inner thighs. yikes.
