Doggy Bags And Leftovers....
fattymcfatterson replied to fattymcfatterson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like leftovers. Less time in the kitchen, less dishes to wash. And my two teenage boys love anything and are bottomless pits. The responses have been interesting. Thank you!!! -
Question About "i Don't Feel Full" Statements
fattymcfatterson posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have noticed quite a few post op folks talking about eating and "not feeling full." Does this mean you still "feel hungry" or are you just not feeling that sensation you are use to to know when to stop? My surgeon told me to measure my food in either 1/4 or 1/2 cup servings (i need to look) and eat that so many times a day. With all the water he has me drinking I don't expect to feel the ravenous hunger I would feel now, but just curious about the "full" feeling. I am hoping to train myself to eat based on measurements and not the feeling anymore. That "full" feeling pre op for me equates to a giant chipotle burrito, chips and guac. No bueno... -
So Sad I Cannot Breathe
fattymcfatterson replied to Fun size's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SHe's an RN? Taking care of other people? WHat if she snaps at a patient like she snapped at you?? NOt only could she hurt someone, she could lose everything. Did you tell your husband what happened? What did he say? She is a danger to herself and others right now. Suppose her freak out in the car had a result that hurt you or someone driving by?? I would call a hotline, either a suicide hotline or a mental health clinic for advice. Please don't interpret anything I am saying as insensitive.. I found out a friend died today and another friend miraculously survived a rollover in a big truck, so I am life and death sensitive right now. I am glad you are ok but I would not risk taking her to Italy. If she is unstable she could get into ALOT of trouble in another country. Try to put your hurt aside for now and go into what do i need to do mode. I don't think she is just being a "brat", sounds like there is something off.. I will be praying for both of you and please, I hope nothing I said offended you!! -

Losing Hair... Chop It All Off?
fattymcfatterson replied to kmbrlycool's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nutri-ox from Sally's Beauty Supply has helped me pre=op with some hair regrowth. It is not expensive compared to Nioxin so I use it everyday and my stylist noticed the regrowth. I would also recommend a flat iron and some thermal care spray. You will be able to style it more with a flat iron and with a little product on it give it some control. My other trick, when I am really annoyed by a light spot, I use my eyebrow powder and color the light scalp. Looks awesome. heheheh Enjoy!! -
Pre-op but i will share this. Last night I wanted to try some watermelon lemonade. I juiced the lemon then put it in the blender with the watermelon. I had some cheesecloth so I thought I would strain out any missed seeds or whatever. I had NO IDEA how much "pulpy stuff" would be left on the cheesecloth! It was a mess, I would not use cheesecloth again but a fine strainer thingee. SO if you were going to do it, i would be prepared to strain it. My surgeon just says that if I can eat it with a fork the first 6 weeks then i CAN'T eat it. And the drink was really good so it may be something I keep doing once I have a strainer. Good luck!!

Antidepressents Pre Or Post Op
fattymcfatterson replied to jaxtr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My oncologist who recommends the sleeve said "DO NOT BE AFRAID TO TAKE ANTIDEPRESSANTS, HORMONES GO WACKY WHEN LOSING WEIGHT". He didn't really yell but he was very serious with kinda bigger eyes when he said it. He went into more detail about women who get sleeved to help with endometrial cancer, the cancer REVERSES/CURED and they come in for follow up or whatever and are crying and depressed. He is like "Why are you crying?????? THE CANCER IS GONE!!!" and the women just keep crying. Not sleeved yet but not ruling it out. -

fattymcfatterson replied to HattieSue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would definetely check with your surgeon on this.. My surgeon told me to not use my cpap after surgery while my tummy is healing. Please be careful!!! -
I am sure your body is still using energy to heal... Please try to get rest and it is my understanding that pretty much one day POOF, people feel normal all of a sudden. I hope that is you soon. I have no experience to offer since I am not sleeved, but just try to rest. heal heal heal!!!!!

Weight Goal, I Am Upset
fattymcfatterson replied to scorpion509's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doctor said that I should expect to lose about 80% of my excess weight. Now, if I want to lose it ALL, then I have to be diligent and exercise and eat right till it al comes off. He is stating that based on his experience and what he has seen. So, once you lose the 80lbs, evaluate. If you want to lose more you may have to just be diligent and work harder. Work your sleeve and going to the gym. Don't be discouraged!!!! -
Really Starting To Detest Water!
fattymcfatterson replied to HadToDoIt40's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been researching "fruit infused water". Google it and maybe you will see some combinations that will entice you. I am going to try a cucumber basil one real soon. Or what about ice? You don't get as much but it might be a change.. Pre sleeved so I can't relate yet but I wish you the best!! -

Worried Post....
fattymcfatterson replied to pinkbwlr16's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sleeved yet but I am so sorry to hear this. I think if ever in doubt call the nurse. Can you see anything? Maybe hold a pillow on it when you go to get up, like a little travel pillow. I am sure somebody experienced will chime in but I wanted you to know I care. Hope you are better soon. -
Endoscopy Tomorrow
fattymcfatterson replied to SlevieNicks's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SO did any of you who had endoscopies need someone to drive you home??? -
My sister had bed bugs in her apartment in Vegas. They discovered the source as being the person upstairs who traveled out of the country. The apartment complex had to replace all of their furniture and move them to another apartment. They had to get their laundry washed a certain way and I think leave them in black trash bags outside on the patio for awhile. It was crazy!! If you rent you may need to notify somebody, if you own you may want to call your homeowners insurance. I pray it gets resolved quickly and thoroughly!

How Are You Preparing?
fattymcfatterson replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my date is Sept 28. FINALLY!!! FIrst thing I am doing is enjoying all my fav foods. I talk to my food and say goodbye. My kids look at me funny but i don't care!!! I have enough protein on hand to get thru pre-op and my six week full liquid/puree phase. I have a notebook for quick reference of different recipes I have found on here over time. I also have a goal spreadsheet with weeks listed and what i should weigh with a goal of 3lbs per week. I do not want to be a person who loses 30 lbs in 30 days and then freaks out when it stops for a few weeks. SO as long as I maintain that 3 lb per week weight loss I will be happy. I am using the Sally's knock off Nioxin (nutri-ox) to try to get my hair to grow in a little thicker before I lose it. I am seeing baby hairs!!! I am moisturizing my upper arms and belly where I am sure I will have the most saggy skin and also trying to skin brush more. I savor every sip of dr. pepper. I can eat healthy soups as long as I can not eat them with a FORK so i will be pre making and freezing soups for all of us and blenderizing mine. Going to check walmart tomorrow for a small travel/belly pillow and it least check out the belly binders. I am also going to fiddle around with making some kind of protein chai tea latte and "fruit infused water" as I HATE artificial sweeteners. Did i say was cooking our favorite cream and butter recipes before my pre-op diet? hahaha. I will be setting up my tripod with my camera so i can start taking pics everyday once I start pre op diet. I REALLY want to document my changes! I will be getting some excedrin for migraines to help wean myself off my caffeine/soda addiction. Hoping my fruit infused water turns out good! Ok. sorry for rambling. This is my brain on vsg. I have been researching this for over a year now and thought at the beginning of the year i was going to be sleeved in MArch. WRONG!! So now, I feel like I need to get back to the early on basics and start practicing what I was practicing back in February, upping water, not drinking while eating, etc. Ok. I am done now. Forgive me agin for rambling... it's late!!!! -
I think I have like 5 vials in my fridge that I bought from an India online pharmacy. I was wondering if I should do it like the week before surgery to help shrink the liver. I don't know. But at this point it is probly just going to be wasted like everything else I have tried! ugh. I hate wasting money!!!!!

How Long Can/will/have You Wait Before Trying To Have A Baby?
fattymcfatterson replied to SensationallySassyT's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Ok... Not reading everyone's posts because this is a hard subject for me. I WISH at 32 when I went to the first doctor they had told me more then lose 20 lbs and you'll get pregnant. Fast forward to age 41 and I am getting a hysterectomy the same time as my VSG. Moral of the story is: Take the year to lose the weight, learn to eat right, and when your weight is stable GO FOR IT BABY!!!!! I unfortunately waited to long, but you have time to take the year to get you healthy and ready. Not to mention the crazy hormonal stuff that comes with BOTH, pregnancy and vsg.. And, if you stayed on the pill, it is my understanding that as soon as you stop you are way fertile!! Again, if this has already been said, please forgive me. It is an emotional topic for me but I wanted to share with you. I am thrilled for the gift you are being given!!!!!!! -
Chubarella, I would just want to make SURE that if you pay your deductible off during this calendar year with the sleep study that your surgery WILL be done before the next year's deductible kicks in! My original surgeo had a financial interest in the sleep center he referred to (of course) and they accepted my insurance payment as payment in full. It helped me meet my out of pocket max so it was a HUGE blessing! I think each study was around $5-6 k. Anyways, I hope everything works out well for you! Maybe they will work out payments for you or something. Good luck!

Gallbladder Flush Pre-Surgery.. Anyone Try This?
fattymcfatterson posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So, I have been a little freaked out about gallstones after surgery because I have had some symptoms. My vsg date us Sept 28 and in my pre-op testing I might get an ultrasound on my gallbladder to see if it is bad. So i went to youtube and googled gallstones and OMG!! There is a "natural" flush you can do to get the stones out without the pain. This guy had a video of the stones that came out of him, I am assuming via his poo, but they looked washed off. SORRY!!! Anyways, it was HORRIDLY AMAZING what came out and how much! Liver flukes and all!!!! Just wondering if anyone has tried this prior to surgery to help avoid PAINFUL gallstones after.... And after I post this I am going to gross myself out further by watching more youtube videos. -
