  1. The Protein shots have whey in them like the powders do but they also contain collagen. I think this is how they pack in huge amounts of protein in a few ounces. I thought I could slide in my protein this way but my oh my they suck. Nasty indeed! I am 3 weeks removed from surgery (hit my "Stall Wall") and decided that I am just gonna make a pate out of two chicken breasts daily and eat that. Those two alone have nearly 60g of protein. For the gas get those Gas-X strips from Wal-Mart. They help. Get a heating pad for the shoulder too. They were suggested from someone here on this site and they helped. I am told the gain from the fluids is very normal. I had none. My surgery was on a Friday and by the following Monday I was walking about a mile per day. The first couple of weeks out I was mostly concentrating on Water intake. I got in some protein from the skim milk and the broths. Not nearly 60g but some.
  2. Well by the end of last week I lost those two pounds. I think I may stall or lose slow over the nest couple of weeks before my secret weapon arrives. Also, my PCP doc is having me come in for some testing. I may have low T. If so she may prescribe a topical treatment. That will hyper-accelerate fat loss but preserve all of my lbm. I'll wait on that because I don't really want 240lb of lean mass.

    Billy Blanks' P.T.24/7

IT's new as far as I know. Has anyone seen it or tried it? It looks interesting. I though after I am cleared to exercise again I could utilize something like this to transition back into Krav Maga. Ya know, to regain some flexibility and to move around. His other programs have been around for years, most notable is the Tae Bo series. The PT 24/7 is somewhat inexpensive in comparison to the cost of my two 35lb kettlebells.
  4. I hit my three-week stall. Actually gained two pounds. Not even discouraged. I may lose those by weeks end. No pun intended but I'm looking at the big picture. In time I'll be right where I need to be.

    Large amt of wl needed

6'3" 431lb at the time of my surgery. The last thing you are is alone. Several here have that 300+ (and 400+) pound mark to start out. I'm just a couple weeks out from surgery and have ups and downs. But if you ask me if I have any regrets I'd say no. Not even wish I'd have done it sooner.
  6. INTP here. But I have been told that types can change after a big event like a substantial weight loss.
  7. I can envision my new me and I LIKE IT!!!!!

  8. Did ya bust through your stall? I figure if there ever is a stall revert to a full liquid diet for a couple of days and see if that kick-starts some more losing! Keep up turning your Wishes into Reality!!!

  9. Your someday is coming very soon. Don't worry. :-)
  10. And one more thing: YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL NOW (ALL OF YOU)!!! JUST BECAUSE SOME JERK CAN'T SEE IT DOESN'T ME YOU EVER, EVER LOSE SIGHT OF THAT!!
  11. I understand EXACTLY where you come from. Here in Vegas, our kitchens are very image conscious. Sure, I was good enough for chef jobs in room service, employee dining, banquets and MAYBE the buffet. But I never get the big-ticket fine dining spots. They always go to the slim chefs. They flash their degrees (AAS) and viola, they're in. Yes I have a degree. Two. I have a culinary degree and a bachelor in Hotel Administration...ALONG WITH 20 YEARS EXPERIENCE!! It freakin' sucks. But F them. Yeah, I said it, so what! I'll just move on to a better, bigger gig elsewhere. Hospitality is EXTREMELY image driven in Las Vegas (and anywhere else I imagine). I hate how they delay my internal interviews, go outside the company to hire a newbie and use my ideas as their own. Welcome to the armpit of culinary arts. It's dark here and it stinks at times too. Anyways, screw them. Don't give them the satisfaction of doing this for them. Do it because you DAMN deserve better. They'll be singing the blues when they realize they lost a most prized asset. Their loss. You may not want to work for snakes like that later on anyhow. Best of luck to you.
  12. I was told by a "trainer" that when a contestant doesn't lose adequate weight for any given week they're extended time. Yep, the contestant is given up to 3-4 weeks to lose the weight you see them lose in the ONE week. Then the producers just say it was one week. That's how and why they seem to have incredible weight loss in such a short time. Plus the time between the announcement of the finale and the finale itself is around 2 months. So no, these people aren't losing 80, 90 or 100+ pounds in 12 weeks. That could make people feel that they aren't trying hard enough. But the reality is that television isn't patient enough to wait for nature. They give a perception that somehow, someway that Jillian and Bob are magic makers that can transform anyone in 12 weeks. Maybe y'all already knew this. I don't know. Just wanted to share.

  14. I too work in a hospital. My surgery was on Sept 23rd. I'm going back to work Tuesday on night shift Oct 4th.
  15. Oh yeah, we are very predictable, lol. I am 9 days post op and I realize everyone is different. Some just pop up immediately after surgery like nothing is wrong. And to them there isn't. I was dry heaving for 36 hours post op and since then ok. I haven't touched my pain or nausea meds since being discharged. You have support here on VST, but I'm happy you have support at home too. Husbands (myself included) resist all change. Even for the better. Learning to sip isn't too hard. Now if you didn't have the Sleeve the way we consume would last successfully for maybe a day or two. A week if you have Zen-like patience. Also, see if a little throw pillow against your belly helps while you rest and sleep. I loved mine. Congratulations!! You're 4 days closer to the new you!!

    Final September results

I'm not sure. Up until Wednesday I was being weighed by the hospital or my surgeon's office. I never felt like I had gained anything from the IV's but who knows. I was in the hospital from Friday morning to Saturday night. During that whole time I ate (HA!) broth once. Spent the rest of the time dry-heaving. Anesthesia sucks. Since I have been home I sip liquids and occasionally take in a puree. I tolerate just about all things well except corn. Used to like it. Used to LOVE it. Can't stand it now....
  17. My S.O. said I should include weight loss since pre-op (I started at 440lb) but as evident from my tracker I'm only going from post-surgery (431lb). This morning, I weighed in at 414lb. I am on puree at least I can have them. But I've been mostly full liquid. I try to get in a couple of protein shakes but on puree I have eaten, albeit very tiny portions and slooooooooowly, bean dip (no chips).
  18. I first BURNED my BMI charts. After that I reflected on my past weights and realized that it is, was and will be my bodyfat percentage that I'll use to gauge my body composition. With that being said, I figured that I want to be in the 10-15% bodyfat range. from that I determined how feasible it is to be at certain weights. I went from 260lb and worked down to around 210lb. Now I know that at my height of 6'3" that "for me" that I'd feel too damn thin at 210lb but who knows. My current goal is to hit 260lb and re-assess my body at that point. If I could be definitively at a size I'd want to be 230lb at 12%bf.
  19. That is damn impressive!!!!!! Great job there!
  20. How ya doin' these days with the Sleeve?

  21. Cooops you're looking quite petite there! I'm ok over hereand in no pain at all (other than once I drank some liquid too fast).

  22. I'm doing good. How's your neck of the woods?

  23. I'm pain free and moving around faster every day. The surgery was error-free. As of Wednesday, down 11lb...

The sleeve is a programmable tool. It'll work when you want and you can also eat around it when you don't. I just can't imagine why anyone would do that though... I was told that your main goal is to remain hydrated the first couple of weeks. Of course get the nutrients down but hydration is very key. Best of luck to you and that Sleeve of yours!!
