Surgery today update
Texasmom65 replied to La Dolce Vita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Glad to hear you are doing well. Rest and sip sip sip. -
I had my tubes tied in 2003 during my c-section of my son. The cramps and my flow got worse, but that is because your not taking any BC pills to regulate it. So be prepared for that. I hated that part of it. In fact I asked for BC pills to help with it because my flow was so heavy. Only did that for about a year. Now I'm post menopasue and don't have to worry anymore....thank goodness.

This is completely normal. And as far as eating out with friends and family, you will learn to love the company and conversation and it not all being about the food. Good luck sweetie, you are almost there.

3 days post op and i'm starving
Texasmom65 replied to Martie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe make your protein shakes a little bit thicker. But don't over do it. Just keep sipping all day long. Have you tried any broth yet? or a cream of chicken soup, if you are allowed that? -
That is terrible. I hope all turns out well for you.

Texasmom65 replied to Indymom's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I have one each morning. I just keep them in my fridge. Love them cold. Haven't tried over ice. Might do that. I love them. NO chalky/powder taste. Easy way to get in your Protein. -

Welcome to the Losers Bench Jen. Sorry for all the nausea problems. I know that is not a good feeling. Hopefully now that your home, you will get to feeling better much faster. -
Thank you everyone for your support. I'm really trying. I don't want my husband coming home to see me stomping my feet in the middle of the floor throwing a fit, crying "I'm Hungry". LOL

BCBS Federal & Dr. Nick Nicholson in Plano - lots of questions!
Texasmom65 replied to beachlover09's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have you called your insurance to find out what the requirements are yourself? I have BCBS TRS, its a 6 month supervised diet. Like you I already had this from my PCP, but it only has to be 6 month within a 24 month period and doesn't have to be consecative. So check with your insurance before you go. If you can have the 3 month diet within a certain amount of time and already have that with your PCP, then make sure you get the records and take with you when you go. That way you are halfway there. Then they can send in the info to your insurance and you will be on your way. Do what you can on your end, makes it go much faster. Good Luck. -
Surgery is tomorrow with Dr. Kelly!

Good Luck Jenn. -
I have a protein shake I drink each day that has 30 grms in it. I only need to get 60 gms per day. Just wondering if I had 3 a day, which would be 90 gms, is that too much? Would that be a problem?

The bottom just fell out :(

Yes Kristie, usually you can get your surgery while you are still paying on it. I can only speak for my doctor and the facility they use. Now I used my insurance and had to pay $2030 left on my deductible and out of pocket. They let me pay 1/2 that up front and I'm paying out the rest. BUT.... before I was approved, I wanted to know how much it would be if I paid out of pocket. I wasn't sure if I would get approved or not. If I was a cash patient, they charge a flat fee of $12,000 for doc and hospital charges. I was told if I go that route, you put so much down and then pay out like $100 or so each month. They would finance up to like 18 months or 24 months. But the fact is...they are willing to work with you. So there has to be other doctors out there that do this. I'm in the Dallas area and I know my doc isn't the only one around here that does it. Even if you use part of your husbands 401K to make a small down payment, that would get you going, then do your monthly payments. I have also heard of some organization for WLS people that helps with financial assitstants. I don't know alot about it, but I know there is something like that out there. Someone else on here may know more about it. -
