Texasmom65 replied to LaValeHawk's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm only planning on a few days. I have a desk job and work from home. But no more than one week unless I have complications. Good Luck. -

Texasmom65 replied to SmallerSoon's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I ready! On day two of my pre-op diet. I have 13 days until surgery. I'm so psyched about this, that today while shopping on vacation, I bought my souvenir shirts in a size L, instead of my normal 2X. I know I will be able to wear the L in a few months. I can't wait guys. I'm so excited. :whoo: -
Great Idea....I love it. Thanks for doing this.

how do YOU take your meds, vitamins & supplements?
Texasmom65 replied to jennifer6791's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
My depression medication is a capsule. I was wondering the same thing. It's small, shouldn't I be able to just swallow it as usual? -
did you tell people about thinking/having vsg?
Texasmom65 replied to jasleeve's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I've told alot of people too. My family, neighbors, employer and a few co workers. I also am making a video log and its private as well. I'm not putting on facebook, but I don't mind telling anyone who ask about it. Good Luck. -
Ask for a copy of your sleep study. Not the technical part, but the dictated report from the doctor. It will help explain it more. I work for pulmonary docs and a couple of them do sleep studies also. It is a big business, but I know from just us, we don't order them unless the doc is pretty sure you have it. And since they are wanting you to have the Cpap test there must be something wrong. But so many people have it and don't know, even skinny people. But once you have the surgery and lose the weight you probably won't have it any longer. That is the good news. Sorry your surgeon is making you go to so many appts. Not saying it isn't part of the "plan", but hopefully he is doing it for your safety. Like PP said, just jump through the hoops to get it all over with.

My pre op diet is 1200 calories. They suggest I use Slim Fast or similar. I'm using Special K protein drinks and bars. A total of 5 per day. Then one low carb, high protein meal per day. Each surgeon is different on what they want. So call your surgeons office to email or fax you a copy of what they prefer.

The countdown begins...
Texasmom65 replied to shordee0751's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good Luck, I hope everything goes well today for you. -
I'll join you. I started mine today too. I get 5 Protein shakes/bars. Right now I'm using Special K. But trying to find a powder I like. I ordered some from GNC. I also get one meal a day. What makes mine harder, is that I'm on vacation this week. But I know it will all be worth it in the end. Good luck to us both, and all to follow.

NO COFFEEE POST OP
Texasmom65 replied to jennifer6791's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try using FF Half and half, then add splenda. If you like flavors, you can try flavored liquid Stevia or the sugar free flavored syrups. -
Ok, I've read on here a few places about it being so hard to get your liquids down after surgery. My question is why? Is it your throat, swollen, stomach swollen....or you just don't want to drink? Does it come back up or what? I drink alot during the day. And thinking that it will take me an hour to drink 4 oz or so is boggling my mind. LOL I just want to be prepared. What is the mechanics behind this.

Ok, I don't officially start my pre-op diet until Monday. But I've been trying out Protein shakes here and there. There are days I'm so busy I don't eat Breakfast and just have my coffee and I'm fine until lunch. But the few mornings I've had a shake for breakfast, I have hunger pains within an hour. Why? Has this happened to anyone else. Is it the protein or something else in the shakes doing this? Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful, before I start this full swing next week.

I think I will try the sippy cup.

I got my approval letter on the 13th of June. My surgeons office called and schedule me for surgery for July 11th. My pre op appt/testing and nut class is on July 6th. So hopefully yours will be soon too. Good Luck.

Texasmom65 replied to MrsPositive's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for sharing Joan. I noticed you say you work from home. On what day did you start working again, if you have yet? I work from home too and having my surgery on a Monday and hoping I can do a little bit of work on that Thurs and Friday. Even if its half days. I hope things keep getting better for you. -
Tomorrow is the day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Texasmom65 replied to lyndynojo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats. :-) -
I have a desk job, but I work from home. So I plan on only taking off 3 days, then 2 days just work a few hours if I'm able too. If not, no big deal. Then it will be the weekend and by the next Monday I should be fine to go. If I was still working in the office I would just plan on a week out and maybe do half days if needed the next week.

Pre-op shakes question
Texasmom65 replied to Texasmom65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks for the info. My surgery is on July 11th. The protein drink today had 26 gm of protein and 8 gms of carbs. So it was pretty low in carbs. Oh well. Just wondering if there was something else I could do not to feel this way. LOL -
Submitted to Insurance!
Texasmom65 replied to KristinaRN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What insurance do you have? Mine was submitted on 6-6 and was approved on 6-7. Of course I didn't know this, so I had called a week later (to my insurance company for status) and was told I was approved on the 7th. Of course I got my letter in the mail the next day. LOL Find out how your paperwork was submitted. If faxed in, call your ins today to check status/to make sure they got the paperwork. Once they tell you if you are approved or denied, ask them to fax you a copy of the letter. I have BCBS of Texas. They were very nice and faxed me and my surgeon a letter and congratulated me too. :-) BTW, I do medical billing for a living, so call them daily if you want too. Don't be scared of your insurance company. Ask questions, they don't mind. -
Congrats. You will be a July Firecracker also...woo hoo ! :cheer2:
