Approved for Surgery July 11
Texasmom65 replied to Texasmom65's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats Marilynn. Where are you having your surgery done? And what doc? Butterfly, I finally got the iPhone app to work for me. So hubby or myself should be able to update everyone on my surgery day. Can't wait to hear how you do on the 7th. I'll be thinking about you. -
Tough Texan/scared to death
Texasmom65 replied to Tex's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Redheadedone, you said it perfectly. Tex, I know how you are feeling. I'm 46 have 3 children, 26, 25 and 7. Also 4 grandchildren. I want to be around to see my little boy get married and have children and be able to keep up with my grandchildren as well. When I think "Oh my, I'm going to have most of my stomach removed", I do get kinda freaked out.....but....it doesn't last for long. I'm more excited than anything else. And just as Redheadedone said, I know this is the right thing for me at this time in my life. I've been searching for something like this since 2008. Wanted the lapband, so I thought. Went to seminars, tried to get approved....but it just didn't feel right to me. So I didn't think about it anymore, until earlier this year. This time I heard about the sleeve and once I decided that is what I wanted (which didn't take long), everything just fell into place and very quickly. I know this is meant to be. I know this is the right thing to do for me. I know I will be ok and God will take care of me.....so I can take care of my family. You can do this Tex. Stop worrying so much and start making plans for your future. Think how next summer will be for you and your kids. It's going to be wonderful. -

5 Days Post Op and Here's My Story :)
Texasmom65 replied to Tippy2us's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats. Sounds like you will be happier with your new sleeve. -
1. To be able to tie my shoes or paint my toes without squishing my fat tummy and being out of breath. 2. To be able to see my "girlie" parts without moving my tummy out of the way. 3. For my husband to be able to pick me up and carry me to the bedroom :-) 4. To be able to cross my legs. 5. To not be the fat friend. 6. To be able to wear a size S or M. 7. To be able to buy clothes in the petite dept, so no more hemming. 8. To be able to run 9. To get up in the mornings and my first steps out of bed are not painful, ankle/feet pain. 10. To eat in front of people and not feel as if they are watching every bite I put in my mouth. 11. To learn to eat healthy for once in my life. 12. To take a shower with my hubby and not feel cramped.

Day 95: Possibly fat forever?
Texasmom65 replied to crosswind's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love your post. Thank you. I know I will need to re-read it again in the future. -
You also have to remember the bigger you are, usually you will lose more faster. Plus your age plays a factor sometimes. Not everyone will lose at the same rate. Just do what you can, and you will be fine.

Calling all low BMI sleevers
Texasmom65 replied to 420gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have BCBS of Texas and my BMI is 41. -
I did aweful yesterday on my pre-op diet. We were in the car driving home from vacation for 18 hours. I ate fast food for all three meals. And this morning, I'm so bloated. I'm hoping alot of it is Water weight. I have to really stick to this diet for the next 9 days. But I also think my Special K Protein drinks were not that good for me. After logging them on my tracker I realized way to many carbs in them. NOw that I'm back home and have my samples of shakes I bought here, going to start on them today. Has anyone been losing weight yet?

I just added some pics taken this week while we are on vacation. (to my profile gallery) These are my "before" pics. Only 11 days until my surgery. Can't wait to post my "after" pics.

I always thought of a slider food like a bean burrito. Something you don't chew much and it just slides down. Same as a high calorie shake. Mac n cheese would be a slider food.

This reminds me of having a baby. LOL It's painful but most women would do it again in a heartbeat. Good Luck, hope you start feeling better soon.

I finally made it to Onederland
Texasmom65 replied to janinemaire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats. I can't wait to reach Onederland. I haven't seen 199 in about 10 years. -
I think part of my sluggish feeling is due to going 1/2 caffiene for my coffee. I have not went totally caffiene free yet. Next week will do the decaf coffee. One week at a time. LOL No headaches though, so I'm thankful. Leslie, I think the emergency bag idea. Maybe that will work for you. Good luck ladies.
