4 Months and 70 lbs. Later (w/pics)
Texasmom65 replied to Amanda131's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Congrats....you look wonderful. -
When I went to my pre-op class, the nut said we could also have veggies during the day. Like raw carrots, broccoli, etc. But no dressings or anything. So I made a zucchini Soup. Just zucchini, baby carrots, onion with Water and chicken broth. Maybe you can try something like that in between your shakes. As she told us, no one every got fat from eating veggies.

Approved for Surgery July 11
Texasmom65 replied to Texasmom65's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No advice really on how to calm down. But I keep telling myself, this time next year I will be at goal, I will be thin and I will never have to worry about being overweight again. I've thought about buying a goal outfit.......maybe a yoga/exercise one. Maybe a size Large. No XXL for me anymore. I might do that tomorrow and hang it up on my bedroom door and see how long it takes me to fit into it. Maybe try something like that. Hugs to all the July 11th losers! We are almost there. -
Mine will be using a 36 bougie. I didn't know they were as big as 46. Can you talk to your surgeon about it and see why he is using a bigger one?
-
You could wear something like those men's boxer pants (lounge pants) and a t-shirt. But make sure they are loose. I just plan on using the hospital gowns while I'm there. But wearing a sun dress there and will put it back on to leave for home. I don't want anything on my tummy. Good luck sweetie.

Who else has used or using Dr. Nick Nicholson in Plano?
Texasmom65 posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've noticed a few have Dr. Nicholson on their sigs....just wondering how everyone liked him, if they have had the surgery done. Also if you have been pleased with his office before the surgery. I for one, love his office. They are quick to answer any questions I have by either phone or email. I asked what size bougie he used and I got the answer within 24 hrs. -
How much weight will i lose (about) in 5 months?
Texasmom65 replied to jasleeve's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most insurances use your starting weight, when you see your surgeon as the weight they go by when its sent in for approval. -
Super pissed and needing to vent (just need to cry)

I'm happy to hear your hubby will be there for you. My daughter lives far away from us, because her hubby is in the Navy. But when he was away, I was there for her when she had two of her babies. There is no way I would not be there for my daughter and grandchildren. Shame on your Mom. I know your husband is going to be there for you, but you might want to try and get involved with a church or Mommy's group to make friends. My daughter does this whenever they move to a new place so she meets people she trust if she needs them to watch the kids for an emergency. And she has had to use them in the past too on short notice. She has been lucky and blessed to find some great friends. I know its hard when your away from family. How about your husbands family, can any of them come visit you? Good luck on Monday. I'm having mine the same day too. -

Is anyone else OBSESSING over getting this sleeve done? It's all I think about!
Texasmom65 replied to Pinkbetty's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes this is about all I think about. My surgery is Monday at 9:30. I just got back from getting broths, Soups, and GasX LOL Oh and my prescription for the nasuea medication patch to put behind my ear the night before surgery. I've got my Protein powders ready too. Now all I have to do is pack a small bag. This time next week....I'm be a loser!! One happy loser. -
Good luck July 8 sleevers!

Good Luck Ashley. :-) -
Ok, I'm suppose to be on full liquids for 3 weeks, then soft foods. Not really a pureed stage. In my first three weeks there is a list of foods, very basic foods that I can have.....only if they go through a strainer. No yogurt, no Jello, no pudding. Everything has to be able to flow through a strainer. I've got a call in to my Nut to see if I can do some of the above mentioned if they are thin enough to flow through the strainer. would love more ideas on the full liquids.

Questions you might have about WLS
Texasmom65 replied to Suzannesh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for the post. So being older didn't slow down your weight loss? I'm 46 and in menopause and its been hell to lose just 10 lbs since March. I was doing Weight Watchers until my preop diet and I'm still not really losing. It drives me crazy. The calorie intake is about the same per day as I was doing on WW. I will be so glad when next week comes and have my surgery. Sometimes I feel I will just be fat forever :-( -
Your New Food Motto
Texasmom65 replied to Tripletsmomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love that. It's taken my 46 years to come to that conclusion also. But I do so enjoy the taste of food. Just not so much of it anymore. LOL -
What I learned at my Nut Class
Texasmom65 replied to Texasmom65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You know what's funny....just thought of this. I want to lose weight so hopefully I won't have to take BP meds anymore. Because I hate taking pills. But if I do get off of it, it will be replaced by all the vitamins....I have to take forever. LOL So much for that kind of thinking. -
Surgery set for next Monday, July 11th. So today was my Pre-op and Nut class. After surgery diet: Stage 1 Day 1-21 Full liquid including Protein supplements (only liquids that go easily through a strainer) No Jello. Fruit juices, protein supplements, cream Soups (thinned), broth, Skim or 1% milk, sugar free drink mixes, Water, SF popsicles, and decaf tea/coffee. Stage 2 Day 22-42 Soft solid foods Stage 3 After day 43 Regular bariatric diet ********************************** Try to consume: 60 oz of liquid per day 60 gms of Protein per day Protein supplements: per 8 oz, 200 or less calories, at least 15 gms of protein (whey, egg, casein or soy based) and less than 5 grams of sugar. The paperworks says to AVOID alcohol, caffeine and carbonation. The nut says to NEVER have them for the rest of your life. The room of people started to freak out. NEVER, ever again???? It was almost comical. Her reasoning is that it can cause ulcers. ****************************** Vitamins and Minerals NO GUMMIES. What? No gummies. I went out and bought my adult gummie vitamins this past weekend. Now I can't have them. The thought of chewing up a chalky Vitamin just makes me gag. But I guess no choice now. Anyone have one they love? LOL Take 2 Multivitamin per day Take 1500-2000 mg pre day of Calcium. Chewable calcium citrate plus Vitamin D and magnesium. You are only suppose to take 500 mg at a time. So take it throughout the day. Vitamin B12: 1000 mcg sublingual once per week. All the above vitamins are to be taken FOREVER! I guess that is when it hit me...Forever? Really? Not sure what I was thinking, but this statement made it REAL for me. Part of my stomach is removed and now I have to take this stuff forever to be healthy. Also Decaf FOREVER!! That was kinda hard to hear for me. I can do without the soda's, but if I wanted some good coffee, it has to be decaf PRE-OP class was interesting too. Like most have said, No nail polish, toes or fingers. Lots of good info on what to expect at the facility I'll be at. We also got a tour of the hospital. Oh and no straws....forever. LOL I'm still very excited about my surgery. A little more scared and nervous than before. I guess this just all made it more real for me. I'm also interested if others surgeons or nuts gave you similar info on the above or not. I know alot of docs are different. And I know the info they gave us today was to help us work the sleeve to the best we can to not only lose the weight but to keep off the weight.

Who else has used or using Dr. Nick Nicholson in Plano?
Texasmom65 replied to Texasmom65's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think he uses a size 36. The bougie is a tube used to guide him to make the size of your new stomach. If you watch a youtube vid of a surgery, you can see the bougie moving in the stomach as they do the surgery. Good luck with your surgery date. -
Congrats, sounds like you are doing well.
-
I watched her vlog this morning...she did a vid right before heading to the hospital....LOL I would be too nervous to do that. Yes, just 4 more days....I'm excited.
-
Wow that is fast. Congrats!
