My Gastric Sleeve Story

Congrats. I know its been a logn journey for you. It is going to be so worth it. -
Well I'm finally awake more than I've been the past couple of days. Everything went as planned at the hospital. The doc and staff were wonderful. I was having alot of pain and nausea, but today I have not had to take anything for nausea....Thank goodness. I"m going to try and just use the liquid Tylenol tomorrow, so I'm not asleep so much. I love my tummy binder....it holds in my fat and makes it easier to move. so if you don't have one, get one. My doc gives everyone one. Oh and your taste does change. Everything is so much sweeter, or stronger tasting to me. So far today I've had about 16 oz of Water, about 4 oz of cream of chicken Soup, and work on a chocolate shake now. I'm so scared of drinking to much and making it hurt. I've been able to take my normal meds without any problems. My Vitamins, Calcium, and b-12 came in todays mail. Doc said not to worry about them this week, maybe try taking them next week. I got mine from Celebrate. I can't wait to go read everyone else's story on their surgery's this week.

That is great news Leslie. I agree about the Lortab is better I think. It seems to last longer. But taste nasty. Can't wait to hear more from you. Take it easy. Hugs,

Nancy you are such a loser...just like me. LOL Ok don't laugh out loud, it may hurt. :-) Sounds like you are doing well. Wow, you are doing well on your liquids too. I hope you continue to get better. Hugs,

Thank you everyone. Surgery went well, just alot of pain for me. I want to tell everyone so much, but pain meds makes me sleepy and hard to think....I'm hoping tomorrow will be better.

I'm home. Thank you so much everyone for the support and well wishes. Leslie, glad to hear you are doing well also. Although I expected the pain, I just didn't bounc back like I've done in the past from major surgerys. I guess age has something to with that, or I'm becoming a wuss. LOL Don't worry, I'm taking my pain meds...they are my friend. Got a shower this morning so I felt better just from that. Took some pain meds, and getting sleepy now. Once I can think better I will tell you all how it went for me. Thanks again everyone.

Well today is the last day of my old life. Although I'm allowed a meal today (lunch only), I'm doing liquids all day long. My husband and son are going to do Protein shakes with me today. They are so sweet. I go in at 9:30 tomorrow morning. So in a little more than 24 hrs, I'll be on the other side. I don't even have my bag packed yet....LOL I figure that will give me something to do today to focus on. Also going to get my fridge organized and all my stuff in one area, so it's easier for my hubby to find for me if needed. I have all my other things in one area on the counter. I ordered my chewable Vitamins, Calcium and B-12 last night, so it should be here by Wednesday. Doing the last bit of laundry today, clean sheets on the bed and spending time with my son. Will make phone calls to my parents, my daughter and older son as well. (I have 3 kids, son 26, daughter 25,and son 7). My husband has his list of people to call for me after surgery.....so I think I'm about ready. How about you?

Did you get off Depression meds after surgery?
Texasmom65 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just wondering if anyone was able to get off their depression meds after surgery and losing alot of weight. When I had my psyc eval, the doc mentioned that after I lose weight I can probably get off of the meds. I've been on meds on and off for about 15 years. The longest time off was after my third child was born in 2003. I didn't get back on them until 2006 when I was going through a divorce. Then I got off them again in 2008 and back on them in early 2010 because I started menopause. I would love to be off them. Just wondering if weight loss would help that part of my life. BTW...I don't take a really strong med either, never have. I just need that little bit. -
I was finally approved today by BCBS. I'm so excited and scared. I don't know what to do next. I'm feeling very overwhelmed.

Tamz, that sounds like solids to me. Just soft solids. LOL At least your not drinking your meals. Good luck with it.

Texasmom65 replied to Texasmom65's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for the well wishes everyone. And I will also be praying for my fellow sleevers this week. We are on our way. Now if the anesthesiologist would just hurry up and call me. Dang I'm more nervous about that. LOL I want to get that last thing done tonight. Still need to pack my bag. OH well, it won't take long, I just need a few things. I can't believe in less than 24 hrs I will be on my way to "thin". FOREVER ! :cheer2: Hugs to everyone! -

I don't have to worry to much about meals for my family. My hubby will go back to work on Wednesday, so just dinner is all he will have here at home. He can take care of himself pretty good...LOL I told him he can stop and get something on the way home. But knowing him he will not do that much. We have Soups and sandwich stuff and he loves making Breakfast for dinner. My son will be with family the first week or so. In fact I would not be surprised if hubby didn't do the Protein shakes with me in the evening a few times. He needs to lose a little bit of weight, so he keeps telling people this is going to be good for him too. LOL Hopefully more people can give you some ideas. Good luck on Wednesday. -

Some Piercing pain 3 to 4 inches below the naval button

Good luck. Since its so low, sounds like it wouldn't be anything with your tummy. Maybe its a muscle and not something serious.
