How would you eat it if your in the full liquid stage? We grew our own this year and hubby picked our first one last night. It will go bad before I get to the soft foods stage, so I want to eat a piece or our first one. Any ideas other than puree the juice?

Unsupportive mother :(
Texasmom65 replied to VSG4aHealthierMe's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Kristie, Why not take her to one of the FREE seminars in your area. I know you don't plan on having your surgery there, but they won't know that. She will see first hand what a doctor has to say about it. Heck even go to a few different places to seminars. She is just scared for you and wants to understand it. Although my Mom was supportive, I could tell she was scared for me. But when I told her I took pictures with me to show her and info for her to read. She also got on the internet herself and looked at the info. Good Luck. I know how important it is to have your Mom on your side. It just makes things better. -

Glad to hear your doing ok. Hope you got your ice chips and more today. -
No. It depends on the employer. Most employers can add stipulations to the plan. For instance our insurance is BCBS of Texas, with the TRS (Teachers). The TRS has put major stipulations on the new plan starting Sept. 1.

You look awesome.

When did you start taking your Vitamins after surgery?
Texasmom65 replied to Texasmom65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Pammie, I'm doing pretty good. I love Dr. Nick's and his office staff. I see him in Plano, so I don't know Dr. Castro. Good Luck with your decision. I first went in for the band too, but the sleeve is for me. Glad I did it. Now just can't wait for the results. -

Good Luck. You will make it. -
I'm just a D cup, and did not wear one in the hospital. I tried to wear one today and it was painful in the area on my left side incision....so no go today. Will try again tomorrow.

Nancy, hope you feel better today. My doc won't let us eat Jello the first 3 weeks. So I just stick to broth, my Protein drinks, Water and last night had some pureed Soup, through a strainer. I'm not too worried at this point about getting in all my protein or anything, as long as I can drink my water. Water goes down pretty well for me. I sip, sip sip. I may take me all day long to get down 16 oz but I get it down or close to it. I don't have any heavy feelings in my stomach area. Still just alot of pain on my left side. I'll be happy when that is gone. Hang in there sweetie, it will get better....and it will be worth it. Or at least that is what I hear. LOL

I bought the Gas X but haven't used, haven't had any gas pains. Thank You!!!! But not everyone is so lucky. As far as meds for nausea, your doc will probably send you home with a prescription. Mine did. Plus he gave me a script for a patch to put behind my ear the night before surgery. you leave it on for about 3 days. So I think that helped some too. But the second day I was very sick to my stomach. But it passed and haven't had any since that second day.

Incision Pain/ Protein?
Texasmom65 replied to DDA84's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just went for a walk outside, just two houses down and before we started to turn around to walk back, I thought I was dying. The pain in my side had me in tears. I wasn't sure I was going to make it back home. The pull and burn was the worse ever. I came straight into the house and took my pain meds. It's so hard for me to walk outside the house, or for long distances. I could get up and down today much better than yesterday, but I feel a set back now. I hope I didn't hurt anything. As far as protein or water....make sure you drink your water. Our nutritionist said its more important to stay hydrated at this point. Worry about protein in a couple of weeks. But Costco has a protein pre mixed drink called Premier Protein that is 30 gms per 11 oz. I was able to drink one today and part of another protein drink, then water, water, water. I sure hope tomorrow the pain gets better. I just was not ready for this much pain. -
I bought the chicken, beef and veggie broths. Buy the name brands, they taste better, or make your own. Mine are not low sodium. My doc doesn't allow us to have SF Jello, yogurt or pudding the 3 weeks after surgery. Only liquids. We can have popcicles, the SF kind. I also bought cream of chicken soup, cream of mushrrom, tomatoe and cream of potato Soups. Everything I eat the first three weeks has to go through a strainer. So we can thin out the soups with milk, puree and run through the strainer, then warm up if you want. I have not tried them yet. I'm 3 days post op. Just now trying some orange juice. We can have 100% fruit juice, Water down if you like. Of course no pulp in the OJ. I've mostly had Protein shakes, broth and water. Going to try more things tomorrow. Good luck on your surgery. You will do just fine.

Tired of hearing you don't look that big to need surgery!
Texasmom65 replied to sugarmamma7's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Don't listen to any of them. You know what you want and need. And as long as you have your husband and kids behind you, that is all that matters. I think alot of people say things like that because they don't know all the information about WLS. So just ignore them. Hugs to you. -
Nancy, I'm a tummy sleeper so its been hard for me. So I'm sleeping on my right side....but I use a pillow. Put a pillow in front of your tummy/by your side, then roll over...it seems to give more support. I don't have any pain when I do that. Hugs to you.

I'm here at the hospital all checked in. Waiting now to be called back. I'm still doing good. But I'm afraid when I go back that is when I will freak out. LOL Hubby will update here after surgery. Thanks everyone for your support.

Marilynn, our storys do sound about the same. I didn't have any gas pains either. I do burp here and there and "toot" a little, but no pain. LOL I do get the loud tummy noises too. I think its saying..." feed me" LOL I drink more water than anything else. I'm not stressing over the protein shakes right now. I'm having my first one for the day now. It seems to be going down better today. I also have not had a bowl movement yet. But I'm not too worried just yet about it. Hubby went back to work today, so I'm alone. I just want to stay in bed and sleep, but I know I can't. Glad you are doing well. In a couple of weeks this will be all in the past. I can't wait.

what does this sound like to you?
Texasmom65 replied to wendy1974's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been having the same pain. And I also have an indention there as well. Anyone know why? I'm just having more pain than I expected from this. If I don't take the Lortab, I can barely move. But if I'm lying down, no pain. Only when I move. I"m only 3 days post op. Hoping this goes away soon. -
Congrats...that is awesome.

Compression Garments?
Texasmom65 replied to Sleevie WonderLand's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My doc gave me one in the hospital. It's a waist binder. It really helps with the pain, and moving around better. It can be for any kind of tummy surgery. It helps keep my fat tummy jiggling and hurting the incisions. LOL
